Part 5
The girl looked at him stupidly.
"If not him, who should I ask?" the girl said.
"Hey, you don't need to ask anyone else. Ask yourself."
"Ask yourself?"
"Yeah, it depends on what you think and whether you're willing."
"Oh, so that's it," the girl said, as if she had suddenly realized something.
Everyone knew the girl was playing dumb.
But her playful madness was so endearing, so captivating.
She pouted, closed her eyes, and remained silent for a moment before opening them again.
The confident man hurriedly asked her.
"So, so? What did you decide?" the confident man asked.
The girl pondered for a moment.
"My heart seemed to tell me," she said, then paused.
The confident man lost his patience.
"Tell you what? Tell me now," the confident man said.
"My heart seemed to tell me that lying on the big rock for the night wouldn't be so bad," the girl said.
The confident man's face darkened.
Li Yong, however, burst into laughter.
It was completely accidental, but Li Yong saw it.
A golden mass, hiding behind a large tree.
Li Yong approached and saw it was a small, furry creature with a long, thin tail.
It leaned against the tree, three legs on the ground, one front leg half-raised, its eyes fixed on Li Yong.
It was wary , but it didn't run away.
Li Yong slowly bent down toward it.
The little creature's fur stood on end with nervousness.
Li Yong whispered to it, soothing it.
"Don't be afraid, it's okay, it's okay," Li Yong said.
The little creature actually understood Li Yong's words and slowly relaxed.
Li Yong gently stroked it.
The little creature trembled, but it still let Li Yong touch it.
It seemed to know that Li Yong wouldn't hurt it.
Li Yong stroked it a few more times.
"Wow, you're so cute," Li Yong said.
He didn't recognize the animal; he just knew it wasn't a fox.
The little creature looked at Li Yong with tears in its eyes.
"What's wrong with you? Is there something upsetting?" Li Yong asked.
The little creature understood and raised its raised leg to Li Yong.
Li Yong then realized the problem.
A small piece of glass had stuck in the claw of that leg.
No wonder the leg couldn't touch the ground.
Li Yong squatted down.
"Don't be afraid, I'll pull the glass out for you," Li Yong said.
The little creature clearly knew what Li Yong was doing. It didn't move, letting Li Yong do whatever he wanted.
Li Yong grabbed the injured paw and examined it carefully.
Then, he slowly grasped the exposed piece of glass.
The little creature began to tremble.
Li Yong comforted it, as if comforting a child.
"It's okay, it's okay, it will be over soon," Li Yong said.
Li Yong pulled the glass out with a sudden movement.
The piece of broken glass was two or three centimeters long.
He didn't know how the little creature got stuck with that piece of glass.
Li Yong threw the glass into a hole in the dirt next to the tree and buried it. He turned back to check the little creature's paw to see if there were any broken glass shards.
There weren't any.
The little creature was still trembling, but the pain was much better.
Li Yong remembered that he had a few Band-Aids in his backpack.
"Don't worry, I'll help you get rid of the inflammation," Li Yong said to the little creature.
The little creature seemed to understand that Li Yong was doing this for its own good, so it stayed where it was.
Li Yong took off his backpack and found the Band-Aids. The little creature still stayed where it was.
Li Yong couldn't help but touch the little creature's head.
"Haha, what a good little baby," Li Yong said.
They caught up with Li Yong as he was wrapping the little creature's paws.
The confident man recognized it immediately.
"It's a weasel," the confident man said.
Weasel?
Li Yong had heard of the name before, but he didn't think it was very nice. It shouldn't be this cute.
Besides, weasels seem to have a bad smell, but this little creature doesn't have any.
"It's definitely a weasel," the confident man said. "I've eaten it before."
The girl looked at him meaningfully.
The confident man explained, proving he wasn't bragging.
"I really have. My dad loves game. Back when things weren't strictly controlled, he had two hunting rifles. He shot a weasel," the confident man said.
His classmate chimed in.
"Your dad has two hunting rifles," the classmate said, a hint of envy.
The confident man was delighted by his classmate's admiration.
"My dad loves hunting. Back when hunting rifles weren't strictly controlled, he'd take them to the mountains every week," the confident man said.
"Oh, that's amazing."
Another classmate asked a different question.
"Are weasels delicious?" he asked.
The confident man chuckled.
