Part 2 Chapter 5: The Gate of Hell
The cold sweat on my forehead dripped down to my nose. It wasn't because I was scared, but I was extremely nervous. Because just now when they were trying to lift the coffin, I vaguely heard someone let out a low roar with all their might, which made me more certain that they were alive.
I was very confused. I had seen many reports on TV saying that someone had killed someone and then built the body into the wall. So these people were murderers? Were they here tonight to destroy the body? But why did they put the body in a coffin? I instinctively leaned back. I felt more at ease when I saw Qin Yiheng's shoulder.
As soon as I moved, Qin Yiheng glanced at me, and I felt that he was also very nervous. I saw that he was as if facing a great enemy, and my heart beat faster. The group of people were already building the wall in twos and threes. These people were very skilled at their work, and in just a few minutes, the wall was built. From the outside, who the hell could know that there was a coffin inside!
Before I could sigh, Qin Yiheng suddenly moved back and whispered in my ear: "Hurry up and retreat, they will be lighting the paper figures and carriages soon!" Then he changed to a half-lying position, retreated a few meters, hunched over and slipped out without waiting for me at all.
This is too disloyal. I held back my curse and quickly followed his example. His movements looked simple, but they were not easy to do. I was afraid that the other party would notice, so I didn't dare to let go of my hands and feet. After crawling a few steps, my arms felt sore. Fortunately, I was able to move backwards in a half-squat position. After moving nearly 20 meters, Qin Yiheng and I retreated to a shadow by the wall and stopped.
As soon as we squatted down, the place really lit up, and the flames spread everywhere. Although we were already in the dark, we still felt uneasy, so we retreated a few meters. I finally had the chance to ask, "What are these people doing?"
Qin Yiheng shook his head and said, "I've been thinking about it too. These people are really weird and hard to tell." He stared at the direction of the fire for a few more times and shook his head again. Even he was out of ideas, let alone me.
I could only watch as the group of people threw the paper figures, carriages and horses into the fire one by one, and finally the people carrying the soul-guiding banners threw them in as well, and the fire gradually dimmed. Then another person came out of the crowd, raised his hand and threw something hard on the ground. It sounded like a vessel, and then the group bent down and fiddled with something. The distance was getting farther, and the paper figures, carriages and horses were almost burned, so I couldn't see what was under their feet.
The strangest thing was that Qin Yiheng was about to pull me away when he saw this, but after this group of people stood up, they all hurriedly ran in another direction without turning back, which surprised both of us.
After a while, Qin Yiheng suddenly looked at me with a changed expression and said, "It's bad. The road signs they put up are not to indicate the way out, but to point the way for something else to come in."
I was terrified. Bringing something in? Needless to say, it must not be a clean thing! I quickly asked Qin Yiheng to think of a solution. He calmed down, lowered his head and thought for a while, and said: "There are two ways now. The first is to follow the group of people, but it is difficult to catch up with them now. Without the coffin as a burden, and the route must have been planned long ago, I guess they have already run away. The second way is for us to find a way out by ourselves. After all, this building is already at the edge of the entire building. We will be more careful and get out soon."
The implication was that I still wanted to find the way out myself. I looked around and it was pitch black. No matter what, I had to get out as soon as possible. I didn't feel safe staying here, so I quickly asked Qin Yiheng to lead the way and we went out by ourselves.
Qin Yiheng hummed and looked around. I didn't know what route he could find in this dark room, so he took me in the direction that the group of people left.
When we passed that wall, we stopped to look for a few times, and then we found that it was not a wall, but a large square pillar built in the center of the entire floor, with each side being seven or eight meters wide. Qin Yiheng even knocked on it with his hand, then lowered his head to look at the ashes of the paper people and carriages that had just been burned on the ground, and finally picked up a piece of black stuff and smelled it, and shouted "Fuck", saying: "I think I understand, this place must be the Feng Shui eye chosen by the master, he wants to use the Feng Shui plan to attract all the things nearby and get rid of his wealth!" As he said that, he slapped his thigh and shouted, "Oh no, we should have run out earlier!"
Qin Yiheng suddenly shouted like that, and my legs immediately went limp. From his tone, I knew we were in danger. However, all the experiences I had had before were not in vain. I took a moment to come to my senses and quickly asked Qin Yiheng what to do now.
He calmed down now, thought for a while, gestured in the approximate direction, and then told me to close my eyes, not to make any sound, put my hands on his shoulders, and told me not to open my eyes no matter what happened, and not to care if I felt someone pulling my clothes or something, and never take my hands off his shoulders. After that, without waiting for me to ask why, he put my arm on his shoulder, took out something from his bag, fiddled with it, turned around and walked out.
I was feeling very uneasy and nervous. After hearing what Qin Yiheng said, I knew that we were probably going to see a ghost. This was not the first time I had walked around the haunted house with my eyes closed, but this time I was more nervous than ever. I put my hands on his shoulders, closed my eyes, and slowly moved forward following Qin Yiheng's rhythm.
I don't know whether he had his eyes open or not. Anyway, we were moving surprisingly slowly. After walking for quite a while, I still felt like I hadn't moved very far in this building.
After walking for five or six minutes, I seemed to have finally reached the door of the building. Qin Yiheng reminded me to "be careful with the steps," and I followed him down. Judging from the feeling from the soles of my feet, it seemed that I was walking back to the dirt road I came from. There were many potholes on the road, and I was afraid of accidentally spraining my ankle. I couldn't open my eyes, so I hesitated every time I took a step, which made me walk even slower.
Qin Yiheng didn't rush me, and seemed to slow down deliberately. I felt like I had walked another 10 or 20 meters, and he started to stagger in front of me.
I held his shoulders from behind and felt his shoulders twisting back and forth, sometimes to the left, sometimes to the right. At first I thought he was avoiding the potholes on the ground, but he kept walking like this for a long time and didn't return to normal. It was very hard for me to follow him. I really wanted to ask him something, but I was afraid of breaking the rules. I endured it several times before I finally suppressed the words.
After walking a few more steps, I suddenly felt something hit my hip. It didn't hurt, but the force was strong enough that I almost let go of my hand. I couldn't see what Qin Yiheng was doing. From the feeling of my hand, he seemed to be twisting and turning to avoid something. If I had to describe it, it was a bit like playing "Eagle Catches Chicken" when I was a kid.
I was even more puzzled, so I squeezed him harder, but he didn't respond. I was a little panicked, wondering if he was possessed by something.
