Part 2 Chapter 10: Shadow on the Eggshell

I wanted to help Qin Yiheng, but before I could do anything, he gave up and turned around to ask me for a cigarette. He then threw one to Xu Chuanxiang, lit it, and asked Xu Chuanxiang, "Is there only one person who died in this house?"
Xu Chuanxiang was stunned by the question, and because he was too frightened just now, he hesitated for a long time before nodding and asked us: "Isn't it?"
Qin Yiheng hummed and said, "I just listened carefully. There was a lot of chaos over there. There should be more than one heartbeat, and the door seemed to be stuck. I was afraid of being tricked, so I didn't act rashly."
I was very confused. Was there more than one person dead in the house? And no matter how many people died, how did they all end up in one room?
So I asked Qin Yiheng, "Could it be that those creatures saw that no one had lived here for a long time, so they wanted to borrow it to stay temporarily? But because we have some evil-repelling items on us, they are holding the door and not letting us in?"
Qin Yiheng shook his head and said, "This possibility can be completely ruled out, because so-called filth rarely gathers together, just the opposite of humans. Moreover, Xu Chuanxiang has already carried out a major cleanup, and it stands to reason that the wandering ghosts should have vacated their place long ago. Now it seems that my guess is right, and these filth are soldiers who died on the battlefield, and were accidentally lured here by 'Pan Sui'."
I heaved a sigh of relief when I heard him say that. It would be easy to deal with these homeless ghosts, but I personally respect the soldiers who died in the war, and I still feel a little reluctant to use extreme means to eliminate them. Now I just hope that Qin Yiheng can use a more tactful method to try to send them away.
So I discussed with Qin Yiheng what to do next. He told me not to worry. Even if the other party had some dirty things, we should not take it lightly, not to mention that we have not confirmed what it is yet. We have no chance tonight. Let's prepare some things tomorrow and come back to find out at night. After that, he took Xu Chuanxiang and I to retreat.
I originally thought that this was Qin Yiheng's delaying tactic, because this is still a business after all. If we admit in front of Xu Chuanxiang that it was just a few easy-to-deal-with little devils, I'm afraid we won't be able to make this money. So, when I went back, I was a little secretly happy. The feeling of making money made me feel comfortable all over.
It was not until I returned to the hotel and talked to Qin Yiheng that I realized what he said was true. I was a little disappointed. However, if it was so easy to make money from this house, I'm afraid everyone would be speculating on haunted houses now. I just thought it was a good thing that came with a lot of hard work, so I just covered my head and went to sleep.
The next day, Qin Yiheng pulled me up early to meet Xu Chuanxiang. Qin Yiheng asked him to help find someone to boil eggs for the birthday boy. Although Xu Chuanxiang was puzzled, he could figure out that this was probably something needed for magic, so he quickly mobilized his connections to get this done. Then, Qin Yiheng dragged me to the farmer's market and bought a bundle of red paper, and then went to the supermarket to buy two gel pens and a sketchbook. Finally, we had a simple lunch and returned to the hotel to wait for news from Xu Chuanxiang.
Nowadays, birthdays are basically celebrated in a Western way, with cakes and candles. Few people cook longevity noodles and eat eggs. In order to find this boiled egg, Xu Chuanxiang spent a lot of effort, but he didn't find it that day. We waited until the next day to get the egg.
The first thing Qin Yiheng did after getting the egg was to peel the shell. When I saw it, I almost vomited blood. Did he go through so much trouble just to get greedy?
After peeling the eggshell, he threw the egg away, carefully put the shell into a small box, sealed it and put it in his bag. Then he said to me mysteriously: "This eggshell can be of great use tonight!" I wanted to ask him in detail, but he kept me in suspense. I had no choice but to follow him in the hotel and wait until dark.
That night, Xu Chuanxiang did not come with us. He handed us the key, delivered the eggs and left, saying that he was a little scared. I'm afraid he was not lying. He was over 50 years old and knew his destiny. He would not lie about this.
Qin Yiheng was quite happy, saying that one less person meant one less burden, and Xu Chuanxiang's mediocre skills might even cause more trouble.
When it was getting dark, we had dinner and then went straight to the house.
There was no conversation along the way. When we arrived at the house, it was almost eight o'clock in the evening. It was already dark. There were many people in the community taking a walk after dinner. I didn't feel scared. But none of these people who were taking a walk wanted to pass by the door of this house. I guess they were scared by the rumors. It's good that way, so that no one would disturb us when we were doing business.
We entered the house with ease, and Qin Yiheng was sorting out the things in his bag in the living room of the main house. He first found an empty beer bottle as a candle holder and stuck a white wax on it, then folded red paper over and over again, and I don’t know what he folded out. Finally, he took out the box of eggshells and carefully placed it aside, saying, "It’s not the time yet. We have to wait until twelve o’clock when the yin energy is the heaviest."
I'm used to wasting time at home. We chatted and surfed the Internet, and time passed by, and soon it was almost midnight.
Qin Yiheng looked at his watch and said, "Almost done," then he took out a red string from his pocket , tied it to the door handle, and tied the other end of the red string to the middle part of the white wax. He added, "If the candle burns to the red string and breaks it, be sure to remind me." After that, he lit the red paper he had folded before with a lighter, used the fire to ignite the white wax, then he lay on the ground, took out a slightly larger egg shell from the box, put it in front of his eyes, and didn't know what he was looking at.
I was confused watching from the side. What did he mean by this? Was he playing Ultraman or shooting at a target?
Qin Yiheng looked at it for a long time without saying anything. I didn't dare to speak to disturb him. Finally, he said "Huh", as if he had discovered something, and put the eggshell in front of his other eye to look at it.
The more I looked at him, the more strange it seemed. He was testing his eyesight. I also lay down beside him and followed his line of sight, but I couldn't see anything.
I poked him with my hand, but he waved his hand to tell me not to move. With one hand, he took out the sketchbook and gel pen he had prepared in advance from his bag, spread them on the ground, and began to draw something on the book with the pen. Although there were candles in the room, the candlelight was very dim, and Qin Yiheng's hand blocked my view. I looked at it several times, but I couldn't tell what it was.
He painted very patiently, his hands neither hurried nor slow. After five minutes, he sat up and looked at the painting in the candlelight.
I immediately leaned over to take a look. The content of the painting was very abstract. I don't know if his painting skills were poor or if he just wanted to draw something like this. He just used lines to draw an outline. I looked at it several times, but couldn't figure out what it was. If I were to associate it, it would look a bit like a crocodile. Anyway, this thing has a tail, and its head seems to be quite long, and its limbs are relatively short.
I thought to myself: "The thing making trouble in this house is the legendary crocodile leader? No wonder he is so strong and keeps holding on to the door."
I asked, "Qin Er, what on earth is this thing?" He looked at me and didn't answer. He picked up the eggshell from the ground and handed it to me, telling me that he was just sketching what he saw in the eggshell and he didn't know what it was specifically, so he wanted me to take a look too, so that at least the two of us could discuss it.
After taking the eggshell, he pressed me in front of the candle. I had no choice but to follow his previous example and cover one eye with the eggshell to see.
Eggshells can transmit light, which is common sense. I thought that I could only see a red or orange-red color through the eggshell under the candlelight, but when I opened my eyes, I found a faint black shadow on the eggshell.
The shadow was very blurry and not clear, but I could still make out the general idea. I stared at it for a few seconds and found that it really looked like the outline Qin Yiheng had drawn on paper. It seemed that he had done a pretty good job.
But I just can’t understand how this black shadow appeared. It completely goes against common sense of physics.
I took the eggshell off and carefully examined both sides. It was just an ordinary eggshell, without any stains or flaws. I turned to look at Qin Yiheng, who urged me to continue looking, so I had to lie down again.
I don't know if it's because of my eyesight. I looked at it for a while. Although the outline is roughly the same as the one drawn by Qin Yiheng, I always feel that there are some faint dots on the belly or back of the black shadow, anyway, the body part. I instinctively associate it with the feeling of a toad's back. But the black shadow is too unreal. My eyes are tearing up, but I can only see this much.
Putting down the eggshell, I told Qin Yiheng what I had just discovered. He listened and pondered for a long time. I was smoking my second cigarette beside him before he stood up, blew out the candle, turned on the light, and gently pulled the door again, but the door still did not move.
With light in the room, I felt a little safer.
I also pulled the door and found it was very heavy, so I used at least 30% of the strength with my hands.
I didn't expect the door to open a little, leaving a gap as wide as a palm. I took the opportunity to take a look inside. It was pitch black and I couldn't see anything. However, the door was not as heavy as I expected. I could still . I guessed it was just heavier than the door at KFC. And what surprised me was that I didn't feel the door was heavy when I closed it. In comparison, it didn't take much effort.
This sent a chill down my spine. This meant that the thing inside was still conscious. It just didn't want to come out. But what was it doing in there?
I turned around and wanted to ask Qin Yiheng, who was already picking up the things on the ground. I went over to help him, and suddenly an idea popped into my mind. The outline I saw on the eggshell before, and those faint dots, damn, could there be some evil creature laying eggs inside? !
