Chapter Six

After the end, Qi Han sent me home.
Under the street light, I said goodbye to him: "I am very happy today, thank you."
"Just a thank you?"
I couldn't see Qi Han's expression behind his glasses, but I looked him in the eye: "Then... I'll treat you to a meal?"
"Last time it was milk tea, this time it's a meal. Jing Yuan, what's next time?"
I paused for a moment, "…Then you decide. I'm fine with anything."
"Anything?"
Qi Han slowly approached me and lowered his voice: "Before making a promise, you should consider the consequences first."
I stepped back subconsciously: "Then you..."
"Just kidding."
He smiled, like winter snow meeting the warm sun: "I used you as a shield, which was immoral in the first place. If I continue, I will be crossing the line."
"It's okay," I argued.
"I do not mind."
Qi Han looked at me for a while and his smile faded.
I watched him stretch out his hand, but then paused in mid-air and touched my head.
"Okay, " he said.
"Good night, Jingyuan."
After going upstairs and opening the door, I was faced with unexpected darkness.
I flipped the switch, but nothing happened.
Xie Yan's shoes were at the entrance. I called his name, but there was no response.
Is there a power outage or a light out?
I walked into the room and when I bent down to find the switch of the floor lamp, I suddenly felt a chill on the back of my neck.
I stepped back so suddenly that I accidentally knocked over the lamp.
"Jing Yuan."
It’s Xie Yan.
I calmed my breath. "What are you doing? That's scary."
He didn't say anything, just stood there and looked at me.
I had a feeling that he was in a bad mood: "The light is broken? Or is there a power outage?"
"It's a problem with the switch."
"you have seen?"
"No, I'm waiting for you to come back."
The balcony door was wide open, and the wind blew in, causing the curtains to flutter behind him.
My phone lit up. It was a new message from Qi Han.
Qi Han: "Although it's very unkind, Jing Yuan, what do you think I was planning to do when I reached out my hand just now?"
Qi Han: "I suddenly want to make my fake play with you real."
Boom, boom, boom.
My heart was beating so fast that I quickly turned off my phone.
On the other side, Xie Yan looked at me solemnly: "Is he your boyfriend?"
"Did you see it?"
He acquiesced.
I shook my head, but my mind was drawn to Qi Han’s text message: “No.”
“There are pictures of you on the campus walls.”
I didn't know whether I should tell Xie Yan that we were pretending, but the way he looked now made it difficult for me to say anything.
"I……"
The next second, he came over and hugged me roughly, with such force that I could hardly breathe: "I've been waiting for you for a long time."
His voice was a little muffled: "I have been waiting for you since there was no electricity."
I noticed his back was shaking: "Xie Yan, are you afraid of the dark?"
He didn't say anything, but hugged me tighter.
No wonder he didn’t go to check the switch. No wonder he stood on the balcony and saw Qi Han and me downstairs.
I softened my heart: "Why don't you call me?"
"Jing Yuan, I dare not disturb you."
In such an environment, Xie Yan was too fragile, which even made me a little uncomfortable: "Xie Yan, you won't disturb me. You must call me next time if this happens, okay?"
"Um."
"I'll go turn off the power."
Xie Yan pulled me back: "Let's go tomorrow."
Eventually we got into his room and laid down on a bed, and he clung to his grown-up like a child, and I was the only one who could comfort him.
I felt the old scars on his wrists and arms again.
I don’t know when I fell asleep, but my hand was still tightly holding Xie Yan’s wrist.
"I wish."
"How can I make you remember this?"
I had that nightmare again.
The cold, hard metal was touching me unscrupulously.
I clutched the pillow as if it were driftwood.
But this time it was obviously more aggressive and merciless.
I began to feel suffocated and helpless, as if there was a layer of white fog in front of my eyes.
It seemed as if a snake had crawled up on me.
Then, my body reacted faster than I did, and I kicked the snake down, stomping on it hard.
In this dream, I didn’t feel unable to move. I seemed to hear a muffled groan and someone laughing softly.
The next second, I was drowning.
When I woke up, I was sweating profusely and sat up suddenly.
It’s still that familiar scene.
Xie Yan was next to me, leaning against the head of the bed reading a book.
He smiled at me, harmless and said, "Good morning, I wish you all the best."
