Chapter 9: Wood is awakening three
While I was still packing, I saw An Yixuan standing at the door of our class with a bad look on his face, causing the students to whisper to each other. Those who were more familiar with An Yixuan had already started to greet him. I deliberately sat slowly, and Lingling was already holding her forehead and sighing. I felt An Yixuan's eyes were firmly locked on me.
No matter how dumb my classmates were, they could tell that An Yixuan was looking at me. There was no point in me pretending to be stupid, so I had to drag Lingling out. Lingling had an expression of despair on her face.
"Do you have to involve me in what happened between you and An Yixuan?" Lingling wailed in my ear.
"Are you going to abandon me without any sense of loyalty?" I snorted and held her hand tightly to prevent her from escaping.
"Hey, An Yixuan, are you here to see the new students in our class?" a classmate asked with a smile.
"Sha Xizi just came today, and she already knows An Yixuan?"
"I heard that they knew each other before. I wonder how she came to our school before."
"Then what is her relationship with An Yixuan?"
The gossips among my classmates were really interesting. I frowned. Sure enough, I became the focus. It didn't feel good to be the heroine of the gossip. I glared at An Yixuan angrily and asked in a cold tone, "What do you want to do?"
An Yixuan seemed very angry. He looked at me and said impatiently, "I should be the one asking you this question. Why did you suddenly ignore me? Why didn't you tell me that you transferred to this school?"
"That's weird. Do I have to tell you everything I do?" I rolled my eyes and continued walking forward while holding the bell.
"If you are angry, can you tell me what you are angry about? Everything was fine before, why is it like this suddenly? Xizi, don't ignore me!" An Yixuan said as he walked behind me.
I felt really overwhelmed, so I walked faster and faster, pulling the bell: "I don't want to be the focus of everyone, so don't follow me all the time."
Lingling was dragged out of the school grounds by me, and said breathlessly: "You two are making trouble... can you please stop dragging me!"
"I'm not making a fuss, I just don't want to pay attention to him for the time being." I answered with a pout, my anger still not subsiding.
"Okay, you two are really weird!" Lingling shook her head to show that she didn't understand. "Relationships are really complicated. I'd better go eat my fried chicken legs. Do you want to join us?"
"No, you'll get too fat. I'm going home to read." I waved at Lingling.
"Okay, you said I'm fat! Let me see if I will help you next time!" Lingling said pretending to be angry.
"I can't help you. I'll go with you to buy it, but I won't eat it." I pinched Lingling's chubby cheek and said.
Lingling smiled and pulled me away: "It's okay if you don't want to eat, or you can treat me."
"You know what , they're really rich." I took out the money my father gave me in the morning and bought a fried chicken leg and a fried chicken wing. Lingling ate the chicken leg and I ate the chicken wing. We didn't care about our image, so we squatted on the ground and started to eat.
"The fried chicken legs here are so delicious." Lingling's mouth was full of oil.
I struggled with the chicken wings: "Chicken wings are more interesting. Chicken legs are all meat."
"Xizi, it's you!" Makino Ge's surprised voice sounded above my head.
I almost swallowed the chicken bone in my mouth. I looked up at Makino Ge and thought how embarrassing it was for him to see me like this. I guess he would never like me again.
"Xizi, today is your first day in St. John's. How do you feel?" Makinoge didn't seem to mind at all and even took out a tissue and handed it to me to wipe my mouth.
I calmed down and said, "It's OK. There's nothing I'm not used to. Besides, school hasn't officially started yet."
"That's good. You can still come to me if you have any problems in the future." Makinoge's smile was a little forced. "I will always be by your side."
"Thank you for your kindness, I really don't need it. You should also do your best!" I took a few more bites of the chicken wings and went home holding the bell.
As Lingling walked, she said enviously, "You, you have such a handsome guy chasing you. He is no worse than An Yixuan. Is it because of him that you are so cold to An Yixuan?"
"Are you stupid? Didn't you see that I didn't want to pay attention to him just now?" I knocked on Lingling's head. "You don't have to envy me. Your future husband will be excellent. You just need to study hard now."
"Xizi, how come you're like a prophet and know what my future husband will be like?" Lingling blinked and looked at me in disbelief, "Are you stimulated?"
"Oh, you'll understand it later. Now go home and be a good girl. School will officially start tomorrow, and there will be tests. Don't take it lightly!" I made a cheering gesture and said.
"You don't want to get embarrassed by failing the test, do you?" Lingling made a face at me.
I was indeed afraid of being embarrassed, especially in front of An Yixuan. I didn't want to be worse than him. I didn't want him to think that I was not good enough. I had worked so hard to get into St. John's. I wanted to stand on the same starting line with him. Every test was crucial because everyone was comparing scores.
St. John's is well-known for a reason. The first week of school was very strenuous for me. Not only were the lessons fast and difficult, but the exams were also held every three days and every five days. I had no time to think about Anyi Xuan for the time being. I was basically trying to adapt to the new learning environment and progress, as well as the new classmates. This is a brand new beginning. My previous memories can no longer help me, and it is still very strenuous for me to start learning and thinking with my 26-year-old brain.
After the initial hustle and bustle, I gradually adapted to the fast-paced study life here, and also adapted to various exams. Fortunately, I had my good friend Lingdang to accompany me. You should know that the relationship between classmates in St. John's is much more indifferent than that in Seyo. Maybe they are all children with good academic performance, and they are born with a competitive relationship. They don't like to do things in groups of three or five. I used to hear teachers say that it is difficult to find friends in a competitive school. Now it seems to be true! Although I climbed over the wall before, I didn't participate in it. So now I still miss the life in Seyo, including Xun Yiran, who I hate.
"Lingdang, Lingdang, come out, I have something to talk to you about." An Yixuan suddenly appeared at the door of the classroom and shouted at Lingdang.
Lingling looked at me, as if asking for my opinion.
"Just go when he calls you. Why are you looking at me?" I buried my head in the book, trying hard to restrain the desire to look at An Yixuan.
Lingling ran out quickly, and after a while she came back with a bag of snacks. She sat next to me, looked at me and said with a smile, "You are still quarreling with An Yixuan. He gave me a lot of delicious food and asked us to go watch him play basketball at noon."
"You only know how to eat." I pouted and glanced at the snack bag. He even knew how to take a roundabout route. When I ignored him, he went to find Lingdang. It was just like before. When I was angry and ignored him before, he also went to Lingdang for help. "Don't let him buy you off."
"Am I that kind of person?" Lingling said righteously, but then she tore open a bag of potato chips and started eating. "Let's go watch him play basketball together at noon."
"You go, but I won't." I glared at Lingling.
"You two are so funny. It's like the situation is reversed. You used to come to me every day wanting to see him, and now he comes to me every day wanting to reconcile with you. Do you think I am your matchmaker?" Lingling laughed while eating.
"Of course not. A matchmaker is an introducer. You didn't introduce An Yixuan and me. How about you introduce me to another handsome guy?"
"Please spare me. Let An Yixuan know and he won't kill me. An Yixuan is a good person. Don't be upset. You should be able to let go and be magnanimous." As expected, Lingling began to speak well of An Yixuan without any reservation.
"I am a petty person. You don't even know what happened during the winter vacation!" I pouted, feeling aggrieved. "I don't know what he thinks of me. Do you know Yayi? She was a girl who pursued him. They have been in contact all the time."
"Ah, Yayi, I know, she's very pretty, but there shouldn't be anything between them. Everyone in the school knows that Yayi likes him. If they had anything going on, it would have happened a long time ago. How could it be your turn?" Lingling said carelessly, "You must have misunderstood. They are classmates, so it's normal for them to know each other or have contact."
"I don't care, I'm just unhappy anyway." I replied with a pout.
"Okay, let's go watch him play basketball together at noon. You have to give him a chance to explain. You used to climb over the wall to watch him play, but why do you feel so awkward now that you can watch it with a legitimate reason? Aren't you tired? You really don't want to watch him?" Lingling said earnestly.
"Okay, okay, I'll accompany you to watch him play basketball at noon." I covered my ears to stop Lingling from continuing.
