Chapter 9: The Promise Made Ten Years Ago 4
The books outside the library were piled higher and higher, and the excavators kept roaring, but the people who were stopping them with their flesh and blood were not intimidated at all.
A long time passed by unknowingly, the sky was getting darker and darker, and the sunset dyed the sky a magnificent blood red.
The members of Yun Que's personal guards held hands, their palms were sweaty, and veins on the backs of their hands were bulging. Their lips were dry, and their faces gradually lost color, but they would not let go, they would not retreat.
Another person who would not back down was Yun Que. He once again staggered out of the library, holding books in his hands. Before he even reached the place where the books were stored, he collapsed to the ground due to exhaustion, and the books in his arms scattered all over the floor.
At that moment, everyone seemed to stop breathing, and they just waited silently, waiting for him to slowly and difficultly get up from the ground again, put the book aside, and stagger into the library again.
The crowd of onlookers had dispersed, but in the blood-red sky and earth, more and more people in red school uniforms appeared. Each of them came silently and stood behind me, without making a sound, as if they were holding their breath at the same time. We stood together, watching this scene silently: the skylark stumbled out again and again, tried to hold on when it was about to fall, put down the book and walked back.
Yaoyao no longer had the strength to hit me, or even to struggle in my arms. She just stood in front of me, watching Yunque walk out of the library and in again and again with an expressionless face.
The person who was also watching Yun Que was Suzaku. He never looked away for even a second, and it seemed that he didn't even blink, just staring at Yun Que as he walked in and out.
When Yun Que came out again, Suzaku's eyes swept over the book in his hands. Suddenly, I saw Suzaku's tense body relax. There was no expression on his face, but the light in his eyes suddenly became gentle and proud.
He stared at Yunlark, watching him put the book in his arms on the pile of books, and finally loosen his lips that he had been biting, and the color returned to his face.
Putting the book down, Yun Que fell to the ground with a thud, but he immediately got up and staggered towards those who were holding hands and using their bodies to block the cold machine in order to protect him.
"That's enough, that's enough..." Using his hands to pry open their fists that had become stiff from being clenched for too long, Yun Que forcefully pulled his bodyguards away from the roaring excavator.
"Enough! That's enough." Pulling his guards into his arms one by one, Yun Que said over and over again in a hoarse voice, "Enough, that's enough. Let them go, let them go! Enough! That's enough! My friends, my brothers..."
"I'm sorry for making you worry about me all this time. I haven't been good enough, not competent enough, not like a great knight. I'm sorry... I'm sorry... I'm an idiot. I can't do anything. I'm useless. I only know how to leave a lot of messes and let my brother clean up after me. I'm the most useless person in the Red Knight branch... I... I'm sorry! I'm sorry... I can't even protect you. I... I didn't even think that I should protect you ! I never thought about it!"
"So...it's okay. Everything you've done for me is okay! It's okay!"
Tears slid down Yun Que's face, leaving two shining traces on his dusty face. Tears also slid down Suzaku's face at the same time, and although he immediately reached out to wipe them away, I was still unfortunately able to see them.
Tears also slid down my face. I didn't know why I was crying, maybe because I could enter TK, the Red Knight branch.
The excavator roared over and soon turned the dilapidated building into ruins.
Next to the ruins was a small hill of books. All the books in the library were moved out thanks to the efforts of Yun Que alone. Not a single book was damaged due to the demolition of the library, and not a single book was abandoned.
"Skylark, what are you going to do with these books?" Suzaku spoke again. After the library had completely turned into ruins, he stood on the ruins and stared at Skylark with his tired big eyes and asked.
"Books?" Shaking his head, Skylark raised his head and answered, "They are not books, they are libraries! As long as there are books, my library will still exist, and no one can demolish it!"
"Oh? Really?" His fancy tone always made people hate him from the bottom of their hearts. Suzaku raised his head, raised an eyebrow, and said with a look of "I don't believe you" with a sneer, "Are you saying that you plan to open a library yourself?"
"What? Is it not possible, brother?" Yun Que looked at his brother, and expression gradually appeared on his face.
"Where are you going to open a library? Don't you remember that you ran away from home? Don't you remember that you broke up with me? I won't help you, brother." Suzaku continued with a sneer, but he couldn't hide the smile in his eyes.
"There will always be a place! There will definitely be a place! I can borrow it, rent it, or work earn money! If all else fails, I'll just move them to a new place every day, moving them from here to there. I have plenty of energy anyway! Anyway..."
"Even so, do you understand how these books should be classified and organized?" Suzaku interrupted Yunque and continued to ask.
Suddenly, a smile appeared on Yunlark's face. The sky was still gloomy, but it seemed as if light was shining on his face.
"I don't understand the classification of these books, but I will definitely try my best to understand them! I am very stupid, so I will spend more time to check and read each book one by one. One day, I will definitely understand them! Brother, I will understand! I will rebuild my library and I don't need your help or worry!"
"Ah? Did I say I was worried about you?" Turning his head away, Suzaku resumed his arrogant Y-country aristocratic accent that made people hate him the moment they heard it, and said, "I'm wondering how long it will take you to rebuild the library you mentioned. You have to know that you get a headache for several days just after reading a book, and you go crazy just looking up a word in the dictionary. There's nothing you can do about it, because I... took away almost all of your talents, and..."
"Brother..." Hibari interrupted someone's narcissistic monologue with a smile, stood up, walked to Suzaku, and said, "You took away almost all of my talents, and you are more handsome and taller than me. But I, Hibari, am the Grand Knight of the TK Red Knight Branch. Like you, I am also a Grand Knight. I may be stupid, but I am not the Hibari who needs your care, but the Grand Knight who swears to protect others with my life! So, believe me."
"I didn't..." Suzaku argued, blushing and stuttering. At this moment, Hibari knelt on one knee in front of Suzaku.
"Brother, Lord Takamiya Suzaku, the First Knight of the Red Knights branch, please don't worry about me anymore. Although I may always be left far behind by you, I have grown up. You always say that I can't remember things, but I remember, clearly remember ten years ago... Before dad left, you promised him that you would take care of me and grow up with me. Brother..." Tears wet Yun Que's face again. He knelt on one knee in front of his First Knight and said in a trembling voice, "The oath you promised to dad has been fulfilled. Brother, it has been fulfilled!"
Tears also wetted Suzaku's proud face uncontrollably. I thought he would say something. But that guy was so willful that he raised his hand and rubbed his face vigorously, then walked away without looking back.
He walked up to me, pushed Yaoyao in front of me into Yunque's arms, said "Protect your woman", and took me and strode away.
