Chapter 9: I put on a dress for you 03
Gu Rong was extremely busy during the first week of school. First, he was asked by the counselor to write a self-criticism, and then he had to take the make-up exam at the beginning of the school year. He finally breathed a sigh of relief after the make-up exam was over.
"Ah! Life is still beautiful." Gu Rong stood at the entrance of the teaching building, stretching in the sunshine.
Compared to Gu Rong's relaxed look, Su Jingjing had a worried look on her face. She hadn't studied very well last semester, and she had forgotten half of what she had learned after the new semester. When she came out of the make-up exam room, she knew she had failed again. She walked forward dejectedly, but was pulled back by Gu Rong.
"Let's have dinner tonight to celebrate." Gu Rong looked at Su Jingjing carefully.
Su Jingjing was in no mood to celebrate and refused directly: "No."
"Don't be like this. We finally finished our exams. It's a new semester and a new beginning. Let's go out for a meal." Gu Rong repeatedly persuaded Su Jingjing, "I just got a living allowance recently. I have too much money to spend. Please give me some face and let me spend a little money to reflect the value of my life, okay?"
Su Jingjing didn't want to go, but she couldn't resist Gu Rong's soft and hard persuasion, so she finally agreed. The two of them agreed to meet at a western restaurant.
Su Jingjing, who was in the shadow of failing an exam, had no time to think about why Gu Rong had chosen to have dinner in a western restaurant so grandly.
Su Jingjing lay in the dormitory, sighing and looking very depressed.
Amy couldn't bear to see Su Jingjing's state, so she asked, "Didn't Gu Rong ask you out for dinner? Why aren't you ready?"
"What time is it?" Su Jingjing got up from the bed in a daze and looked at her watch. "Ah? It's already five o'clock?" After saying that, she immediately ran out of bed and prepared to leave.
"Hey, are you going to go dressed like this?" Amy couldn't help but shout.
Su Jingjing looked down at her outfit and didn't think there was anything wrong with it. "What's wrong with me? I usually dress like this." She said puzzledly.
"Usually it's just usual." Su Jingjing was stupid, but Amy was not. She knew very well that Gu Rong wanted to invite Su Jingjing to dinner today, so she got off the bed and planned to help him to the end. "Don't you have a skirt or something? T-shirt, denim shorts and slippers, do you want to be kicked out by the waiter?"
"But I don't have a skirt." Su Jingjing had never worn a skirt since she was a child. In her family, she, Su Jingjing, was the same as her senior brothers, and their clothes were mainly simple and practical.
Amy sighed and took out a floral dress from her closet and handed it to Su Jingjing. "I bought it, but I haven't worn it yet. I'm lending it to you for emergency." Amy said generously.
"You are actually wearing this kind of skirt?" Su Jingjing was a little surprised. She had indeed never seen Amy wearing a skirt.
Amy blushed and yelled at her, "Can't I buy it for my cousin?"
"Ok, Ok."
After Su Jingjing changed her clothes, she caught everyone's eyes and even made Amy exclaim: "Su Jingjing, I give you this skirt."
Su Jingjing stood in front of the mirror and found that the skirt was indeed a good fit. The knee-length dress with floral patterns made her look gentle and lovely, which matched her appearance perfectly and made her look even more delicate.
Amy let down Su Jingjing's ponytail and found that her hair had reached her waist. The three people in the dormitory began to circle around Su Jingjing, one helped her put on light makeup, one helped her spray perfume, and one helped her find suitable shoes... In short, the whole dormitory was mobilized.
An hour later, when Su Jingjing appeared in front of Gu Rong, Gu Rong asked in a daze: "You are..."
"I'm Su Jingjing." The cute and charming Su Jingjing, who often turns heads, suddenly returned to her tomboyish image, and her voice became as low as a baritone.
Gu Rong nodded: "Yes, I recognized it."
Su Jingjing looked at Gu Rong and was also a little surprised: "Why are you dressed like this?"
Gu Rong smoothed the cuffs of his suit and replied casually, "I have washed all the other clothes, and this is the only one left."
Today, Gu Rong wore a dark blue casual suit with a black and white striped shirt, cropped trousers and polished leather shoes. He looked neither old nor formal. If he was a thoughtful person, he would have quickly exposed his lies and realized that he had prepared for something else. Unfortunately, the other person was not someone else, but the thick-skinned Su Jingjing.
"Let's go in."
The milky yellow light shines on people, softening their facial lines and filling the surroundings with a gentle atmosphere. Other guests chat quietly, and the gentle voices do not sound noisy, but make the restaurant even quieter.
The waiter in a suit, vest and bow tie wanted to pull a stool for Su Jingjing, but was rejected by Gu Rong. Gu Rong slowly walked to Su Jingjing and gently pulled out the chair for her, intending to show her his best side. But Su Jingjing didn't care about him at all, and just started eating with all her heart.
Gu Rong could only sigh and shed tears to the sky.
"Why did you suddenly bring me to such an expensive place to eat? The school cafeteria is pretty good." Su Jingjing asked after swallowing a large piece of steak with difficulty.
Gu Rong was leisurely cutting a steak. When he heard Su Jingjing's question, he smiled and said, "I treated you to something more expensive, but you're not happy?" As he spoke, the light from the ceiling light was reflected in his eyes, and his pupils looked sparkling.
"That's not the case, it's just..."
"What?" Gu Rong looked at Su Jingjing in confusion.
Su Jingjing hooked her finger at Gu Rong, leaned closer to him, and whispered, "I was in a hurry to go out and forgot to bring money. It's so expensive here..."
Gu Rong really didn't know whether to laugh or cry. He could only look at her with a smile and said, "I have the money. Don't worry, I won't pawn you to wash dishes in a restaurant."
"Oh, that's good." Su Jingjing finally felt relieved after hearing Gu Rong say this.
Gu Rong was thinking about his confession in his mind, so he spoke very little tonight. He looked serious and solemn, and his every move exuded a rare self-restraint and temperament.
Su Jing quietly glanced at Gu Rong and couldn't help being shocked. She wanted to speak but didn't dare to. She could only count the time Gu Rong was silent in her heart. Finally, she stared at the chandelier above her head in a daze.
However, Gu Rong felt that Su Jingjing was particularly gentle and quiet tonight, like a completely different person, which made him afraid to get close to her, so he became even more silent.
"My teeth are going to break."
"What?" Su Jingjing came back to her senses after hearing Gu Rong's words, "What did you say?"
Gu Rong pointed helplessly at the fork in Su Jingjing's hand: "You can't eat with a fork."
Su Jingjing put down her fork, pursed her lips and looked at Gu Rong, and suddenly asked: "Gu Rong, can I ask you for a favor?"
"What's the matter?" Su Jingjing rarely asked for help, and Gu Rong was quite interested.
"Can I... have another steak? The portion in this restaurant is too small, not enough for me..." Su Jingjing muttered in dissatisfaction.
Gu Rong suddenly smiled with relief - this was the Su Jingjing he knew.
"Waiter, another steak!"
After they both finished eating, Gu Rong wiped his mouth with a napkin in an elegant manner, and then said as if he had made up his mind: "Jingjing, I have something to tell you..."
When Su Jingjing heard this, she quickly waved her hands and said, "Don't let me eat for you, I can't eat anymore." After that, she patted her stomach to prove it, regardless of her ladylike image.
"I'm not asking you to eat for me." Gu Rong sighed helplessly, "I want to ask you..."
"belch--"
Gu Rong was startled and looked at Su Jingjing and asked, "What's wrong with you?"
"I didn't - burp!" Su Jingjing burped again before she could finish her words, covering her mouth with her hands with a red face.
"Are you sure you're okay?" Gu Rong hurried over to Su Jingjing and patted her back and handed her some water. The confession that was on his lips died in the sound of Su Jingjing's hiccups.
