Chapter 9 How to Please Big Brother

Wei Qian had read many inspirational stories like this when he was young, but he had forgotten them all. Perhaps his emotional development was not up to par with the average level. He felt nothing when he read them at the time, and only now did he feel a little touched.

He casually told the two children: "Your teacher is quite capable and the extracurricular readings he selected are quite good."

The fat man who was cooking poked his head out of the kitchen and said amid the noise of frying, stir-frying and cooking: "What did you say? Read it to me louder."

Wei Qian cleared his throat, intending to show Sanpang how he could speak at the flag-raising ceremony. However, before he could even pronounce a single word, Wei Zhiyuan suddenly said in a disheartening tone, "Brother, I don't want to go to school anymore."

He brought up the old matter again, but Wei Qian ignored him and didn't take it seriously, because as a competent feudal patriarch, he intended to carry on the glorious tradition of dictatorship to the end. It was not the kid's turn to express his opinion on whether to go to school or not.

Wei Qian yelled at the fat guy in the kitchen, "Let me teach you  a lesson . Let me see where to start... Well, let's start with this one - Ideal..."

"Brother." Wei Zhiyuan came over, squatted in front of Wei Qian, looked at him straight, and said again, "I don't want to go to school anymore."

Xiaobao was used to causing trouble, so he ran over and said in a crisp voice, "Brother, he doesn't learn his lesson, beat him."

Wei Zhiyuan frowned and said to her righteously: "Go away, you are everywhere."

"You're the one who got out of my way," Wei Qian casually hit Wei Zhiyuan on the head with his extracurricular reading materials, and said, "Say that again and I'll break your legs."

This sentence has a source. When Wei Qian was a child, there was a classmate in his class who was called by the teacher for mischief. The classmate's father hit the boy on the head and said viciously: "If you skip school again, I will break your legs."

Young Wei Qian always thought this statement was very parental. At that time, he was still young and ignorant, so he wrote this sentence in his notes, but the teacher gave him a big cross...

In short, he has always been eager to use this sentence to teach someone a lesson.

Wei Zhiyuan looked at his hanging arm with a complicated expression.

The first time he resisted going to school, it was because he had no idea what it was for. But this time, after careful consideration, the little boy expressed his thoughts with reason and evidence: "I don't want to go to school anymore. Going to school is good, but it takes many years and costs a lot of money. I'd better go out with you to make money. I can work and fight. I can support myself and you."

Unfortunately, Wei Qian is a person who is difficult to communicate with, and Xiao Yuan's well-reasoned words fell on deaf ears.

Wei Qian looked down at Wei Zhiyuan and felt that this brat was ignorant of the immensity of heaven and earth. He was itching to beat this brat up - Wei Qian thought, he went out day and night, and as the competition in the industry increased, he had to be ready to fight wits and courage with his peers all the time with blood and sweat. As a result, what this brat said made it seem as if anyone could do such a technically demanding task. It was really a damn thing that he didn't know how expensive firewood and rice were, and he didn't know at all how hard it was for others to support him.

However, when Wei Qian saw that he was serious and determined to support himself, he didn't do it.

Little thing...at least have some conscience.

So Wei Qian said to him perfunctorily: "Then you should study hard. In the future, graduating from university is not enough, and getting a master's or doctoral degree is not enough. You need to get a postdoctoral degree. After a postdoctoral degree, others will be called "Daokete" Wei, and you should try to become a "Jiankete" Wei for us. That's awesome."

Wei Zhiyuan lowered his head. He had read a little and understood a few things. He could tell that his elder brother was teasing him. It was obviously not negotiable on this matter.

Song Xiaobao, the naughty kid, came over with a grin, shaking his head and tail, asking to be beaten, and said, "Jiank Tewei, hehehehe."

Wei Zhiyuan: "Go away, little girl."

Song Xiaobao refused to give in: "I'm not a 'film', I'm a 'drum'! You're a sheep dung ball on a reed stick!"

Wei Zhiyuan: "...ugly girl."

Song Xiaobao screamed angrily: "Sheep dung ball!"

Wei Zhiyuan replied calmly: "Call yourself."

The two of them started fighting, and Wei Qian watched from the side without any intention of trying to stop them. He just wanted them to have a more intense fight. Watching children fighting was also one of his entertainment activities, as it wouldn't hurt them anyway.

When he first came, Wei Zhiyuan's eyes were extremely wild and unruly, and his personality was always duller than his peers. He was in stark contrast to Xiaobao, who kept chattering about his unproductive opinions at home every day. At that time, at first glance, Wei Zhiyuan was like a big adolescent child stuffed into the body of a little guy, and it always seemed that the person and appearance did not match.

However, in the past six months, he has become smaller and smaller, and his words and actions have become more childish.

While Wei Zhiyuan was arguing with Xiaobao, he glanced at Wei Qian out of the corner of his eye and found that the big brother, who had one arm in a sling, was watching their fight with great interest. Only then did he continue to irritate Song Xiaobao in a somewhat performative manner.

Ever since the last joke about changing teeth, Wei Zhiyuan accidentally found a way to please his elder brother - that is, to raise his IQ to the same level as Song Xiaobao, and often do some stupid things with her that make people laugh and cry.

The more childish and silly they act, the more easy-going and less pretentious Big Brother's attitude will be.

So Wei Zhiyuan walked further down this path.

His natural talents could have made him grow up to be a cool person, but he ended up taking a stupid path. His life experiences are truly unpredictable.

Wei Zhiyuan has a very passionate feeling towards Wei Qian and this family. He is different from other children. Other children are born with a family, but Wei Zhiyuan does not. He treats "family" as a career.

As long as he can stay, stay in this family, let him fight to the death, not to mention just pretending to be stupid.

Xiao Yuan always remembered that one day, he caught a cold at school during the day and was always cold. After falling asleep, he unconsciously crawled into Wei Qian's arms, nestled in that warm arms, and slept until the next day.

In the early morning, when the boy woke up, he lay there for a long time and was reluctant to move. He opened his eyes wide and looked up at the face of the sleeping boy beside him. Suddenly, he silently called out "Brother" in his heart.

Of course, the eldest brother couldn't hear it, but Wei Zhiyuan called out to him in his heart.

The lively battle between Xiaoyuan and Xiaobao was finally ended by Sanpang, who picked up the two cubs, one in each hand, and pulled them apart like puppies: "Hey, little ancestors, are you going to cause trouble in Heaven? Let's call a truce first. We can pick up our guns and fight again after dinner. There's no rush!"

Sanpang brought the fried rice from the kitchen and put it in a small bowl. He didn't take a bowl, but took four spoons, one for each person, and started eating around the bowl of rice.

Sanpang is a know-it-all. He is even more nagging than Tang Seng. Even food cannot stop his sausage-like mouth. He  teaches his children while eating: "Children should have ideals. They can't be like big-bellied katydids all day long, fighting endlessly. Your brother is an idiot and doesn't care about anything..."

Wei Qian was innocently implicated, and just wanted to give the fat guy a beating so that he would know how capable the Horse King was. But before he could even open his mouth, the two brats shouted at the fat guy with a common hatred for the enemy: "Don't talk about my brother!"

Sanpang: “…”

Wei Qian picked up a piece of ham for each person and said, "Well done, eat more."

Sanpang's big face twisted for a while, but he was thick-skinned and reluctantly continued the topic: "Okay, let's not talk about your brother. Look, you have learned so many texts about ideals in school. What are your ideals, brother?"

Xiaobao said: "I want to be a singer."

Wei Zhiyuan said plainly: "To make money and support my brother."

Xiao Bao glanced at him and added, "I want to make a lot of money as a singer to support my brother."

Sanpang was like a wretched child abductor… no, like a great  educator , and he said to Wei Zhiyuan earnestly and kindly: "Look, Xiaobao's ideal is more goal-oriented. What about you, Xiaoyuan? You have to support your brother, so how are you going to make money?"

Wei Zhiyuan said without even raising his eyelids: "I can look after the place, sell CDs, get licenses, and be a big shot..."

Sanpang was immediately distressed and turned to Wei Qian and said, "Qian'er, I think you are hopeless."

Wei Qian looked at the serious Wei Zhiyuan, his eyes fell on his bulging cheeks, and suddenly he wanted to laugh, so he laughed, and by the way, he pointed out a clear way for the fat man in a concise way: "Get lost!"

When he smiled, Wei Zhiyuan felt that his throwing a tantrum that night was all worth it, so he stopped talking, saved his energy, and ate his meal fiercely.

Wei Zhiyuan looked very ferocious when he ate, as if he wanted to turn every grain of rice into his bones and flesh.

In fact, Wei Qian also had an ideal. His original ideal was to be a scientist, wearing a white coat and walking around in the laboratory, recording various data, writing papers, typing materials, researching something, studying while eating and sleeping, and not taking anything else to heart except what he was researching, and having no worries about food and clothing.

Of course, Wei Qian knew in his heart that this ideal had now become a fantasy, so he never mentioned it to anyone else, pretending that he was a seasoned veteran in society since birth and had never been an idiot.

Sanpang cooked and was also responsible for washing the dishes after dinner. He complained as he washed: "Alas, your third brother owed you money in his previous life, so I have to be your child bride in this life..."

Wei Zhiyuan happened to hear this and rolled up his sleeves without saying anything: "Third brother, I'll wash it."

Sanpang waved his hands, not knowing whether to laugh or cry: "There are still people vying to be child brides. You should go watch cartoons with Xiaobao."

Wei Zhiyuan looked up and asked Wei Qian for instructions. Wei Qian nodded at him with a centimeter fluctuation: "Go ahead, don't trip over here."

After sending the child away, Sanpang said to Wei Qian, who was leaning against the kitchen door frame, "Does your arm hurt?"

Wei Qian lit a cigarette: "Not bad, a little."

Sanpang didn't chat with him. He was silent for a moment. Sanpang asked him seriously, "What do you want? Do you want to continue like this?"

Wei Qian had already seen that he had something to say, so he kept silent and waited for him to speak.

Sanpang is older than him and Mazi, almost twenty years old, and thinks more than his two younger brothers: "Don't be offended by what I say, Brother Le - Le Xiaodong is not a good person. What good will it be if you follow him? Even if you go to the construction site to lay tiles and sell your strength, the two dollars Le Xiaodong gives you is for you to work hard."

After a while, Wei Qian asked back: "What can I do?"

"Why can't you eat?"

Wei Qian leaned against the door frame, thinking blankly for a moment, then looked down at his hands that were wrapped like dumplings, feeling the piercing pain coming from inside, and whispered, "I can't do anything."

"You can work part-time or do small business," Sanpang paused and said, "At worst, you can follow Sange and we can drive to pick up cooked food. Isn't that also a way to make a living?"

Wei Qian smiled lightly and said nothing.

"As long as you nod, I will tell my dad when I get back..." When Sanpang said this, he suddenly turned his head as if he had realized something. He found that Wei Qian was no longer there, so he left without listening in a non-violent and non-cooperative manner.

Sanpang stopped talking, angrily shook off the water on his hands, and said angrily: "Grandson, you will regret it sooner or later!"

Sanpang has known him since childhood and would never harm him. Wei Qian knew in his heart that what he said made sense.

He had been in the entertainment city for more than a year and had gradually let go of his blind worship of Brother Le. Wei Qian also knew a little about what he did for a living.

Wei Qian sometimes wondered why others could always take the right path no matter how hard or difficult their lives were, but he was the only coward?

Is he willing to be a gangster?

Although he is a gangster, he knows what is right and what is wrong. He has been a good student in school for so many years, not just to drop out and become a gangster.

Is it for money?

Yes, Wei Qian admitted that Brother Le gave him a lot of money, but Sanpang was right, he was selling his life, and even if the money was twice as much it would not be worth it.

Is that because you are afraid of suffering?

Probably not. It's hard to compare the pain of having blisters on your hands rubbed by bricks and sunburned skin, or having your arm broken by a stick.

What is that for?

Wei Qian asked himself this question countless times, and later he realized that it was probably his fatal self-esteem that was causing the problem.

From the moment he was born into this world and cried for the first time, he was destined to be inferior to others, so when he grew up a little and had a little more choice, he would rather die than bow his head again - even if he had to be as ferocious as he is now, making everyone fear and hate him.

It is better to let others fear him than to look down on him.
