Chapter 8 Speculations
Dong Jing opened a small circle that surrounded me as well, and I squeezed the wound on my hand hard.
I squeezed more blood out of my hands. The puppet was surrounded and kept trying to avoid me.
My hands were already covered in blood, but I was not in a hurry at this moment.
Because I already have a special move, and I know they have no way of escaping it.
So I walked towards the little puppets step by step.
They were extremely scared, with expressions of panic on their faces and they kept shouting.
The unpleasant sound made me a little confused, so I squeezed my wound even harder, and the pain made me clear-headed instantly.
"You can't escape, just wait for your death!"
When I said this, my tone was fierce.
I smeared the blood from my right hand onto my left hand, grabbed one with each hand, forced the white smoke out of their bodies, and then strangled their necks.
Ninety-nine little puppets died in my hands.
After I had dealt with all the puppets in the small circle, Dong Jing closed the small circle she had opened.
"Your blood..." She looked at me a little confused, as if she understood something but not completely.
I nodded. "Yes, my grandmother did something to me. My blood can ward off evil spirits, so of all the things I can use to save my life, blood is the most useful."
Maybe it’s because I lost too much blood, I feel dizzy.
Dong Jing looked at me, a little surprised, opening and closing his mouth but not saying anything.
Just then, footsteps were heard on the stairs.
Although I felt physically uncomfortable, after what happened that night, I was in the best fighting condition.
So I pricked up my ears and all the muscles in my body went into battle mode.
I breathed a sigh of relief when I saw that the person coming up was my cousin.
My cousin's face looked as bad as mine, but it was obviously better than mine.
"Why do you look so pale? Is the talisman I gave you useless?" My cousin was a little confused. He walked towards us while paying attention to the rotten wood on the ground.
"What are these?" My cousin seemed to be asking us, but also seemed to be talking to himself.
I didn't answer him. At this moment, I just wanted to solve the problem here as soon as possible and then leave.
When my cousin found blood stains on the rotten wood, he looked up at me and said, "Did you use your blood to ward off evil spirits?"
I nodded without elaborating.
He just sighed and didn't say much.
I thought he would know some details from the wood, but he didn't.
Instead, Dong Jing said, "These puppets should be some puppet inductions. I guess someone is doing some evil magic here. In order to ensure the quality of the evil magic and not be disturbed by others, they put these puppets as inductions."
Dong Jing's analysis makes a lot of sense.
If you meet someone who has no Taoist skills, he would have been scared away by these puppets.
And when they encounter us, we can delay the time a little when fighting against them.
Maybe someone had already discovered us before we entered the house, and we moved the evil magic they were performing to another place.
These wooden men were only used to delay time so that they could escape safely.
"You are telling the truth. This evil magic has already been completed. During the process of completion, no one discovered it. So the puppet's appearance at this time was just a plan that had been planned long ago."
My cousin frowned, as if thinking about something.
I don't know how long it took before my cousin said, "I just set up a formation downstairs. One, to prevent those unskilled people from getting close, so as not to hinder us from finding out the truth. The other is to look for clues in this house."
"So what did you find?" Dong Jing asked.
My cousin nodded and said, "I found it. Normally, once the evil spell is completed, the object will be moved. But fortunately, the person who moved it has not arrived in time, so the object must be in this house!"
I couldn't help but shudder when I heard what my cousin said.
This house has a second floor. It’s already difficult for us to get into the first floor, so what should we do if there’s also a second floor?
"But this sorcery doesn't look that simple. How many puppets did you catch just now?"
"Ninety-nine." I replied to my cousin.
My cousin frowned and said, "Ninety-nine, that means this number is a lucky number for those who cast evil spells. I heard about this when I was studying magic, that the upper part is an even number and the lower part is an odd number. It is very likely that the object is hidden down there, not on the second floor or on the roof."
With that, my cousin turned and left, saying, "Let's go down and take a look."
I gritted my teeth and followed my cousin.
Dong Jing was walking at the end, just sandwiched between me and my cousin.
My cousin burned talismans as he walked.
I don't know where he took out another bundle of incense and lit it.
I followed him and naturally smelled the fragrance.
I don’t know if it’s a psychological effect, but I just feel that when I smell that fragrance, my body seems to slowly recover.
My cousin was walking in front of me, muttering something in words I couldn't understand.
By the time we got downstairs, I seemed to be feeling better.
"We are already at the bottom. We have already scouted , and there is nothing strange at all. Are you sure that the main body of the evil spell is here?"
When Dong Jing spoke to his cousin, his tone was not as harsh as when he spoke to me.
Maybe it was because of my previous impression of her, thinking that she was a hot girl, but now that his tone had returned to normal, I actually felt a hint of tenderness.
Because of this, I looked at her a few more times.
Feeling my gaze, she turned her head and looked at me with a fierce look: "What are you looking at! Don't you have to work? Don't you want to get your share of the money?"
I was scolded for no reason and felt a little aggrieved, but he hit on my sore spot and I had no choice but to turn my face away.
My cousin was thinking about something and he couldn't give us a response.
I could only wander around the main room by myself, looking here and touching there.
I don't know what was on the floor that tripped me, and I fell forward flat on my face.
The moment I landed, I heard that the sound of the floor was different from the others.
This is a hollow floor!
There must be a road below!
"Uncle!" I shouted, a little excited.
My cousin had already heard the voice when he was about to reach out to help me.
His brows were slightly furrowed, but his eyes were shining.
"Maybe it's right underneath! Come and help us pry open the brick and take a look!" My cousin's voice was a little excited.
