Chapter 8: Mansmer Language System

"Teacher Ailan, please wait a moment."
Ailan turned around and looked at Shalan who was standing behind her. She raised her eyebrows slightly, somewhat surprised that Shalan would come to her.
To be honest, Ailan didn't have a very good impression of the student Shalan. In Ailan's impression, Shalan was a typical rich second-generation, paranoid, arrogant, and conceited. Fortunately, Shalan didn't like to do things that disrupted the class before, so she and Shalan didn't have much intersection. Because of this, Ailan was not sure why Shalan came to see her.
Shalan didn't care at all about how Ailan viewed him. He just wanted to know what kind of words were on the small piece of paper he memorized and where they came from.
"Teacher Ailan, I would like to ask, in your class just now, you introduced the small country in the Bronze Age. Where can I find their writing?"
"The writing system of that small country in the Bronze Age? Oh, you mean the Mansmer language system?"
"The Mansmer language system? What is that?"
"The Mansmei language system is the language system of parts of our western continent during the Bronze Age. The small country I talked about in class also used this language system. Although there may be some differences in pronunciation and meaning due to different regions, the differences are not that big. They all belong to the Mansmei language system."
"Then, Teacher Ailan, where can I find the corresponding books? I am a little curious about this language system."
Looking into Shalan's eyes, Ailan did not see the negative things of the past in these eyes. Instead, she saw the sincerity from the heart and the desire for knowledge.
Exhaling, Ailan nodded and said, "The Mansmei language system is not very famous in history, but it is not unfinished. It is just that it is difficult for non-professionals to find it."
"Since Teacher Ailan said so, it means that you must know where to find this book that records the Mansmei language system."
Ailan chuckled and said, "Yes, I know. You can go to the Howard Library in Cynthia City. That library has a long history and is even much bigger than my grandfather's. I heard that it is a private library of a family business. It costs a lot to enter to read or borrow books, but many rare books are only available there in Cynthia City. Of course, those high prices should not be a problem for you."
With her eyes brightened, Shalan bowed slightly to Ailan and said, "Thank you, Teacher Ailan. You really helped me a lot."
"These are what I should do. After all, I am your teacher."
After smiling at Shalan, Ailan turned and left. He had classes in other classes next period and needed to get to that class as soon as possible.

After getting what she wanted, Shalan turned back to the classroom, took out the books for the next class from her own cabinet at the back of the classroom, and then sat down in her seat.
At this moment, Shalan discovered that Du Luo was looking at her with a very strange look.
"Duro, what's wrong with you?"
After looking Shalan up and down, Du Luo narrowed his already small eyes and said, "Shalan, why do I feel that you have changed a lot? Did you hit your head before and your personality has changed?"
Although she knew that Du Luo's words were mostly jokes, Shalan's heart still beat faster.
With a helpless smile, Shalan said, "Isn't it okay for me to suddenly wake up and devote myself to learning?"
Upon hearing this, Du Luo immediately sneered at Sha Lan, and said with a chuckle: "I don't know you yet, are you attracted to Teacher Ai Lan? Although she is indeed very beautiful and charming, she is a rose with thorns. I don't want you to be pricked by the thorns in the end."
"Haha, don't worry, I won't."
"Then I wish you success."
"Thank you!"
After fooling around, Shalan turned around and opened the textbook for the next class. However, he did not notice that the handsome young man with his back to them sitting not far from him and Du Luo had a hint of disgust and jealousy on his face. He secretly turned his head and glanced at Shalan, with a hint of disdain, disgust, and a malicious sneer in his eyes.
At three o'clock in the afternoon, the school was over at Cynthia No. 1 Senior High School. Shallan rejected the invitations of several other second-generation students on the pretext that she had not yet recovered from her illness. She got into her family's car and asked the driver to take her to the Howard Library, which was located between high-rise buildings northeast of downtown Cynthia.
After getting off the car and asking the driver to wait outside the library, Shallan walked into the Howard Library, which had a rather retro decoration, carrying a bag containing paper, pen and some money.
After paying a gold coin to apply for a library card, Shalan looked at the almost empty library in front of her and suddenly felt that it was not unreasonable for the library to be so empty. The one gold coin fee for a library card was unaffordable unless it was for a middle-class or above family.
Another thing that must be said is that although money is still nominally called copper coins, silver coins, and gold coins, in fact, real coins are no longer the real metal coins in ancient times, but paper coins. Only the name has not changed.
With the library card in hand, Shallan, under the guidance of a waiter, came to the bookshelf where the books about the Manse language system were stored. Looking at the tall bookshelf that was more than twice as tall as herself, Shallan took a ladder from the side and began to look for books about the Manse language system on the bookshelf.
After searching for about ten minutes, Shalan had found a total of seven corresponding books, which was not a small number.
"This library is really amazing. This book is over 170 years old, and it is still so well preserved. No wonder it requires a gold coin library card. If such a historical book is damaged or stolen, it will be an immeasurable loss."
After putting the ladder away, Shallan found a seat with the book and sat down. He flipped through the books one by one and roughly looked at them to determine the difficulty level of getting started. Then he picked up a book about the Mansmer language system written by a famous Bronze Age historian in the Western Continent seventy-six years ago and began to study.
Even with Shalan's current learning talent, she encountered many difficulties when learning this new language. It's not that the language is difficult, but that the language itself was discovered in the relics of the Bronze Age. Many words have various speculated meanings, so Shalan can only learn and deduce bit by bit. Time passed by, and before Shalan knew it, the sky had darkened.
