Chapter 76 Father Fang’s Attitude
Chapter 77 Fang's Father's Attitude
The atmosphere in the Fang family's living room was a little tense.
Fang's father hadn't said a word since he entered the door. He sat on the sofa and looked at the two young people opposite him with a sullen face.
These two children usually didn't have much interaction, and there was nothing unusual in their behavior. Fang's father couldn't figure out when did they get together?
He wanted to scold them, but he was afraid that he would say too much and hurt the children's self-esteem. But they were still dating at such a young age, how could this be?
Looking at his daughter who was sitting honestly with her head down, Fang's father felt even more sad. How could this girl be so stupid? Did she know what kind of person the other person was? Was it just a momentary impulse of youth? How could his silly daughter dare to date a boy without discussing it with her family?
And she was out for so many days, alone with a man and a woman, how could it be!
Humph, this bad boy must have used some kind of bewitching trick, otherwise, with his silly girl's personality, how could she walk so close to a boy on the street? There was something wrong at first glance!
"Hey, Fang Qing, go clean up the house first. You haven't been home for three days, and the house is covered in dirt. Go take the quilt out to air it. I need to talk to Xiao Ning alone."
Fang's father dismissed Fang Qing. Although Fang Qing was worried, she didn't dare to resist. She could only glance at Wen Ning quietly and return to her room.
As Fang Qing left, Fang's father's temper instantly increased. He leaned back on the sofa, his eyes scanning the boy across from him. His expression softened, but his tone was not soft.
"Xiao Ning, I heard you did well on the test. Uncle congratulates you first. However, academic excellence doesn't guarantee a good character. The most fundamental quality in life is character. Many young people these days appear respectable, but secretly harbor dirty thoughts. Such people are unacceptable."
Wen Ning's expression remained calm, a faint smile gracing his father across from him. "Uncle Wen is right. Academic performance doesn't mean anything; character and integrity are the true measure of a person. But often, prejudices in society lead us to view others through tinted glasses. But after truly interacting with others, you'll discover that some people are truly exceptional..."
Fang Qing slowly slid out of the room, clutching the blanket. Even as she flapped the blanket with her hands, her ears perked up to hear the sounds in the living room.
Listening to the back-and-forth between her father and Wen Ning, Fang Qing felt a cold sweat breaking out on her forehead. It was the first time she'd seen her father so serious and sharp. Seeing her father about to lose his temper, she immediately cut a piece of watermelon and brought it in.
"Dad, have some watermelon. It's so cold in the well." Fang Qing handed her father a piece of watermelon, looking at him with a smile.
Father Fang sighed inwardly at his daughter's gaze. "Girls grow up, they can't be kept!" The girl he raised, and she's only been helping strangers for a few days! She's so clueless. If he reveals his cards so soon, won't he be completely controlled in the future?
Father Fang coughed, took the watermelon from his daughter, and raised his eyes to gesture for Wen Ning to try it too. "Then... have a piece of watermelon to quench your thirst."
Wen Ning, despite his calm demeanor, was actually terribly flustered. He had just been arguing with Father Fang, knowing it would easily offend him. But it was better to make it clear that his feelings for Fang Qing were serious, and they were both innocent and respectful, so he would accept any questions and tests.
Wen Ning rubbed his trousers with his hands on his knees before nodding. But instead of eating the watermelon, he took a sip of water. After all, his image was very important in front of his future father-in-law.
Fang Qing sat for a moment, then caught his father's eye again and slowly left the living room.
The atmosphere eased a bit, and Father Fang finally sighed deeply, carefully examining the young man across from him. Although he felt uncomfortable, he had to admit that the young man was truly handsome and a good match for his daughter.
Although he disliked his children discussing relationship issues too early, it had already happened, and he couldn't bring himself to hurt them. They would have to face it sooner or later anyway, so he might as well consider it an early test.
"I'll pretend I didn't see what happened today. You've already finished the college entrance exam, but my Fang Qing has just entered a crucial year. Don't have too much contact this year. Once you both get into university and our two families have a clear path forward, I'll be done with it."
Hearing this, Wen Ning breathed a sigh of relief, his calm expression finally showing a hint of joy. Before he could say anything, Father Fang continued.
"However, my daughter has been spoiled since she was a child and has many small faults. You can help her correct them with good intentions, but if you treat her badly, don't blame me for being ruthless."
Wen Ning took a deep breath, looked at Fang's father and solemnly promised, "Uncle Fang, don't worry! Before Fang Qing is admitted to university, I will never disturb her studies, let alone have any adverse effects on her. We two will make progress and grow together, and you are welcome to supervise me at all times no matter how I treat her. If I say I have done something wrong, you don't have to hit me, I will come to you and confess my guilt."
After hearing Wen Ning's serious assurance, Fang's father's serious face finally eased a little. He looked at the young man opposite, who had been sitting upright all the time. In his past impression, Ning Yuan was indeed a very good child. He was relieved a little and invited Wen Ning to eat a piece of watermelon to moisten his mouth.
After Wen Ning finished his conversation with Fang's father, Fang Qing stood at the door to see him off. Wen Ning smiled and rubbed her head, "Remember what you promised me."
Fang Qing blushed slightly. "I don't know what you're talking about."
Wen Ning sighed. "Qingqing, I know this happened a little suddenly, but you must think it over carefully. I'll wait for your answer."
After that, Wen Ning resisted the urge to hug her, patted Fang Qing's shoulder, and then left the Fang residence.
Because both parents remained silent about Wen Ning and Fang Qing's relationship, only the two families knew about it.
As time passed, it was time for Wen Ning to register for university. Fang Qing had returned home early for her senior year, and when Wen Ning finally left, she didn't get to see him off.
When Wen Ling learned her best friend was with her brother, she was shocked at first, then suddenly realized why her brother had always been so nice to Fang Qing.
Before leaving, Wen Ning left a letter for Fang Qing to bring back.
After evening study, Fang Qing returned to the dormitory, lay down in bed, and opened the brown envelope.
The vigorous handwriting expressed Wen Ning's attachment to her and her reluctance to leave. In her heart, she repeatedly advised her on how to adjust her daily routine and study schedule for her senior year of high school. She also agreed with her that once she arrived at school, she would write back to let her know
she was safe. At the end of the letter, Wen Ning wrote the words "My dearest love," which made Fang Qing blush.
"Bah, who is your dearest love?"
Although she said this, her eyes kept looking at the handwriting on the envelope until she fell into a deep sleep.
