Chapter 7 The Longest Movie two
Not long after Xu Yun left, the rain stopped. I breathed a sigh of relief, quickly spread my raincoat on the ground and asked Xiaoyuan to come over and sit down.
It was only then that I realized something was wrong with Xiaoyuan. She leaned against a tree without saying a word, her originally pale face was now bright red, and her breathing was a little rapid.
"What's wrong, Xiaoyuan?" I walked over anxiously.
Xiaoyuan heard me calling her and smiled at me weakly, indicating that she was fine. I reached out to touch her forehead, and just as my fingers touched her hot skin, Xiaoyuan suddenly fell down softly.
Fortunately, Hanako Yin reacted quickly and reached out to hold the fallen Xiaoyuan. Hanako Yin put Xiaoyuan on the raincoat I had laid out, and I quickly took off my coat and covered Xiaoyuan with it, but the thin coat didn't work at all. Xiaoyuan curled up into a ball and shivered.
Hua Ziyin quickly opened his backpack and took out a bottle of water. I immediately understood and quickly took out a handkerchief from my bag and handed it to him. He looked at me in surprise, took the handkerchief, carefully poured some water on it, wet it, and applied it to Xiaoyuan's forehead.
He did all this silently, and suddenly handed me the bottle of water and said, "Have a drink."
After he reminded me, I realized that I was indeed a little thirsty. I was about to take the bottle, but he suddenly retracted his hand. I thought he was going to play a prank again, so I glared at him, but he said nothing and lowered his head to hold the bottle tightly with both hands.
Then I suddenly realized that he was using the warmth of his palms to warm the water in the bottle for me.
"No, no..." I, who was always eloquent, suddenly stuttered, "I, I like to drink cold water..."
Before I could finish my words, I shivered. How could I not feel cold after the heavy rain, with my coat off and only a long-sleeved T-shirt on?
Hua Ziyin didn't expose me. He looked at me, handed me the bottle and said, "After you finish drinking, feed Xiaoyuan some too. You watch Xiaoyuan first, I'll be back soon."
"Yeah." I raised my head and took two sips of water before I realized what he meant. I asked hurriedly, "What are you going to do?"
He didn't answer, but walked into the bushes that were as tall as a person next to him and disappeared.
I stared at the bushes and whispered, "Is this guy going to sneak away like this and become a deserter?"
"Remember to speak softly when you speak ill of others next time." He seemed to have super hearing, and walked out of the bushes in two steps, stretched out his hand and said to me, "Here you go."
"What?" I then noticed that he was holding a men's shirt in his hand, and the shirt was not wet.
I was very curious and asked, "Where did you get the shirt?"
His face suddenly turned red, and he forced the shirt into my hand : "Just take it, why are you asking so many questions?"
I grabbed the shirt in a daze. My cold fingers keenly felt the body temperature still remaining on the shirt. Suddenly I understood: "You...you didn't just take it off from your body?"
He didn't say anything. I knew I was right and handed the shirt back to him: "I...I can't have it."
"Why ?" He turned his head and looked at me coldly.
"I...I just don't want it." I hugged my arms tightly, determined.
He stood still, staring at me coldly, as if he was competing with himself. After a long time, he suddenly strode over with a cold face, and without saying a word, he wrapped the shirt in his hand around me. I was frightened by his momentum, and stood there stupidly, letting him button my shirt one by one.
"Are you dissatisfied with my shirt because it's not clean, or are you afraid that Xu Yun will misunderstand when she comes back?" He was so close that I could even feel his cold breath on my head. "You won't wear my shirt even if you freeze to death?"
I was afraid you would be cold too. I almost blurted out my worry, but I held it back. I crossed my arms over my chest, wrapped my shirt tighter around me, felt the warmth on it, took a step back, distanced myself from him, looked him in the eye and said, "Aren't you cold?"
"Are you worried about me?" He stared at me, a smile slowly spreading from the corners of his mouth, and his bright eyes sparkled.
"No." I turned my head and pretended to look at Xiaoyuan, so that he wouldn't see my unnatural expression because of lying. "I'm just worried that you will get sick too. I can't take care of two people."
I thought about it and added, "Also, if you really get sick, you can't blame it on me. I don't want to take such a big responsibility just because of a shirt."
As soon as I said it, I regretted it. With his shrewdness, he probably saw that I was trying to hide something. However, he didn't expose me. After a long while, he slowly said, "Don't worry, my jacket is waterproof."
"Who's worried about you?" I reflexively refuted his words, and only noticed another problem a second later.
I looked at Xiaoyuan who was still shaking and asked him loudly, "You said your jacket is waterproof, so the shirt you wear inside doesn't get wet at all?"
He was probably frightened by my excitement. He looked at me and nodded hesitantly.
"Hey, why didn't you tell me earlier?" I quickly took off my shirt and handed it to him, "Quick, take off your jacket."
He looked at me in confusion.
I pushed him toward the bushes and said, "Come on, put on your shirt and give the jacket to Xiaoyuan."
"I...can't..." Hua Ziyin, who was always eloquent, frowned and hesitated.
Since it concerns Xiaoyuan's safety, I immediately became anxious: "Why are you like this? You know, just now, when you gave me the shirt, I was a little touched, but now I know that you are the kind of person who only keeps the best things for yourself at critical moments. Everyone knows that a jacket is much warmer than an ordinary shirt. Hanako Yin, I thought I had wronged you before, but it turns out you are really that kind of person."
From beginning to end, Hua Ziyin didn't say a word. He lowered his head, and I couldn't see his eyes. I could only see his lips that were almost pressed into a straight line.
After I said that, I angrily stuffed his shirt into his arms. However, the moment my fingers touched his clothes, I was suddenly stunned. His chest was wet, and I could almost wring water out of it.
"So, you...your jacket is wet." I looked at him in disbelief.
He slowly raised his head, and I saw the loneliness and sadness in his eyes. That sadness was like a kitten's claws, gently scratching my heart.
"But why isn't your shirt wet?" I thought of what I had just said to him and felt full of self-blame.
Without saying anything, he turned and walked towards Xiaoyuan, squatted down and covered Xiaoyuan with his shirt.
I stood behind him, looking at his lonely back, and suddenly remembered him standing beside me in the heavy rain, with his right arm bent forward in a strange motion, and then everything became clear to me.
It turned out that while he was shielding us from the rain, he was pulling his jacket forward with his right hand to ensure that the jacket, which was wet by the raincoat, would not wet the shirt inside.
As soon as it started to rain, he had thought about making sure the shirt didn't get wet and gave it to me. I felt bad when I thought about him wearing a wet jacket next to his skin.
"I'm sorry." I walked over, squatted beside him, held a tissue in my hand, and pressed it hard on his chest, trying to help him absorb some of the water off his clothes.
He looked at me expressionlessly, holding my wrist tightly with his right hand, and slowly moved my hand away from his chest. He smiled miserably and said, "I knew you didn't believe me, but you know what? Xihe, I didn't know you didn't believe me so much."
"I didn't." I was anxious and flustered, and couldn't find a word to refute. I could only say, "I'm sorry, I just don't understand you."
"Yeah, you just don't understand me." He looked at me intently, and as he looked at me, a smile spread from the corners of his eyes and eyebrows. It was a smile as warm as the sun.
But I always feel that there is a shocking pain hidden in that smile.
