Chapter 7 Principal Zhou
Song Yuanchao thought of his father. It was a pity that Song Guangzeng did not survive like Principal Zhou, and his expression was gloomy.
Uncle Liu patted Song Yuanchao's shoulder and said nothing, because he knew what Song Yuanchao was thinking at the moment, and this method was the best way to comfort him at this time.
"Uncle Liu, I'm here today to see Principal Zhou." Song Yuanchao directly stated his purpose: "My father's problem needs a conclusion."
"That's right." Uncle Liu nodded in agreement: "Teacher Song is a good teacher, and Principal Zhou is also a good principal. This should be done."
At this point, Uncle Liu glanced at the alarm clock on the table, stood up and said to Song Yuanchao, "Let's go, the class will be over soon. I'll go ring the bell first and then take you to the principal's office."
"Thank you, Uncle Liu."
"Hey, it's my duty. Why are you thanking me? You treat me as an outsider, don't you?" Uncle Liu glared at Song Yuanchao, then stood up and told Song Yuanchao to leave.
The two men left the guard room, and Uncle Liu came to one end of the playground, where the bell was rung. The school bell for the start and end of classes was originally rung by hand, but now with the changes of the times, it has been changed to semi-electric. As long as the switch is pressed when the time comes, the bell in the teaching building will ring.
In a few years, ringing the bells for classes will be more convenient and fully automated. The bells for classes will be all electronically controlled and will ring automatically at set times.
When the time came, Uncle Liu pressed the switch on time, and a crisp bell for the end of get out of class echoed throughout the school.
After the bell rang for more than ten seconds and then stopped, the quiet teaching building suddenly became noisy. Countless students ran out of the teaching building happily. Just like Song Yuanchao in the past, the children took advantage of the breaks between classes to run and play happily all over the playground.
After the bell rang, Uncle Liu took Song Yuanchao towards the teaching building. Along the way, many students greeted Uncle Liu and shouted "Hello, Uncle Liu". Uncle Liu responded with a smile and nodded to the students.
Walking into the teaching building, Song Yuanchao felt as if he had returned to his student days. This familiar yet unfamiliar place was one he had never been to since he returned to Shanghai in his previous life, but now he was here again, looking at the students running past him with laughter, and the teachers walking towards the office with doctrines after class, Song Yuanchao seemed to see himself back then, and also saw the shadow of his father back then.
The school's teaching building is an old four-story building. This building was built in the early days of the founding of the People's Republic of China and covers a large area. Later, this building was demolished and replaced by a new, more than ten-story teaching building.
The principal's office is the last room on the east side of the corridor on the fourth floor. Song Yuanchao had come here several times with his father when he was studying.
Uncle Liu brought Song Yuanchao to the principal's office and knocked on the door gently. Soon a voice "Come in" came from inside.
When he opened the door, he saw the principal, Zhou Feng, sitting at an old desk, wearing a pair of reading glasses and reading a document. He looked up and saw that it was Mr. Liu. He put down the document in his hand and asked with a smile, "Mr. Liu, why are you here? What's the matter?"
"Haha, I'm fine. I just brought someone to see you." Uncle Liu replied with a smile, and then he let Song Yuanchao out from behind him and pointed at him and said, "Principal, do you know this young man? Come, take a closer look."
"This...?" Principal Zhou was stunned when he saw Song Yuanchao. He took off his reading glasses and looked at Song Yuanchao carefully: "Who is this? He looks familiar, but I just can't remember who he is..."
"Hello, Principal!" Song Yuanchao stepped forward and bowed respectfully to Principal Zhou.
"this……?"
"Principal, this is Song Yuanchao, the son of teacher Song Guangzeng and a former student of our school." Uncle Liu saw Principal Zhou's puzzled expression and explained with a smile.
"Ah! You are Old Song's son? Yuanchao?" Principal Zhou was startled and stood up involuntarily. He walked a few steps to Song Yuanchao and looked at him carefully. After a moment, he nodded repeatedly and said, "I recognize you, I recognize you. You are really Old Song's son. Your eyebrows and eyes are like your father, and your nose and mouth are more like your mother. By the way, this suit is your father's, right? I remember I made it when I went to the capital for a meeting. No wonder it looks so familiar to me."
"Principal, you have a really good memory." Song Yuanchao nodded and smiled, and at the same time said a little embarrassedly: "I went to the northwest to settle down these years, and just came back yesterday. The conditions in the northwest are not good. I have been away for eight years. I have grown taller and can no longer wear the clothes I used to wear at home. I can only find this set of clothes left by my father to come to see you today..."
Principal Zhou's eyes were slightly red. He looked at Song Yuanchao, and then at the way he was dressed, and naturally recalled the past when he and Song Guangzeng worked together.
Song Guangzeng is an extremely capable teacher. In fact, with his degree from St. John's University, he could have taught in a university, let alone a middle school. However, he chose to stay in this school with Principal Zhou for more than 20 years.
In the past twenty years, Song Guangzeng has trained many good students for the country and society, and is also an outstanding teacher in the school, district and city.
If Song Guangzeng had not focused solely on education and disliked dealing with government affairs, he might have been the vice-president long ago.
"Child..." Principal Zhou held Song Yuanchao's shoulders tightly and sighed with great emotion.
Song Guangzeng and his wife have passed away, but Principal Zhou has survived and is now back at work.
But now things have changed and some of the things lost can never be found again. When he saw Song Yuanchao, Principal Zhou felt filled with emotion and great regret.
At this time, the doorman , Uncle Liu, had already left quietly, and even helped to close the door when he left.
"Sit down, sit down quickly."
After expressing his feelings, Principal Zhou then remembered to entertain Song Yuanchao. He asked Song Yuanchao to sit down, and then hurriedly looked for teacups, tea leaves and other things.
Song Yuanchao did not consider himself an outsider. He took over Principal Zhou's work and poured himself a cup of tea. He also helped fill Principal Zhou's teacup with boiling water.
The two sat down on the sofa near the window, and Principal Zhou asked Song Yuanchao about his recent situation. After listening to Song Yuanchao's experiences in the northwest over the years, he sighed again and asked Song Yuanchao with a little regret: "I remember that your class was unable to graduate for some reasons, but anyway, you also finished your second year of high school. The country resumed the college entrance examination two years ago, why didn't you take the college entrance examination?"
"The place where I went to work in the countryside is quite remote, and when I got the news, it was very close to the college entrance examination. In addition, there were some other reasons, so I was unable to participate." Song Yuanchao replied with a smile.
"What a pity, what a pity." Principal Zhou sighed, but soon he comforted her, "It doesn't matter. You can take the exam again today if you didn't take it last year. Besides, you are back now. The conditions are much better than those in the northwest. You have a good foundation. Uncle Zhou will find some review materials for you in a few days. If you study hard at home for a few months, you will definitely be able to get into university..."
"Thank you, Principal." Song Yuanchao smiled but did not continue discussing the matter with Principal Zhou.
