Chapter 7: How Amazing My Roommate Is
Although Meiji University is not as famous as Waseda and Keio among private universities, it is also closely behind them.
There are currently four school districts at Meiji University in Tokyo, the earliest being Surugadai, and later Nakano, Izumi, and Ikuta.
Each school district is divided according to the majors. For example, the Izumi campus where Shirakawa Kaede is going to is the freshman admission education base for the Department of Social Sciences and Humanities.
I was in Izumi during my freshman and sophomore years, and moved to Surugadai during my junior and senior years. When it comes to the Izumi campus, the most well-known one is probably Meidaimae Station, which is only three minutes away from the school.
This is the intersection station of the Keio Line and the Inokashira Line, serving 30,000 to 40,000 passengers every day.
Shirakawa Feng, carrying his luggage, squeezed out of the dense crowd. Even though it was the cold March and April, he was still sweating profusely, and his shirt became sticky.
There were many young people who looked like him in the crowd, mostly students who had come to report.
Although they didn't know each other, they still nodded and smiled at each other. After all, they were quasi-alumni.
Shirakawa Kaede turned around and looked at the two-story Meidaimae Station and thought it was just average.
However, many campus romance stories in later Japanese dramas were filmed here, such as "A Bouquet of Love".
Because the distance was very close, he entered the campus after walking north for only a few minutes.
Since Meiji University has no gate or wall, Shirakawa Kaede, who is standing on the roadside, has no idea where to go.
"Sure enough, a school without a gate or a wall looks weird."
Next to Baichuan Feng was a fat white young man, carrying luggage, standing next to him in a familiar manner, and exclaimed in a serious tone.
Seeing Baichuan Feng looking at him, he quickly bent down and bowed, with a bright smile on his face, "Yamashita Daiji, nice to meet you."
The other party was so enthusiastic that Baichuan Feng could only respond seriously, "Baichuan Feng, please take care of me."
Alas, Baichuan Feng really finds it troublesome that little RB has the habit of bowing all the time.
But that was the social culture, and he had no choice but to try his best to adapt.
"Oh! There are a lot of people over there. Maybe they are the seniors guiding the new students. Let's go and take a look."
Yamashita Daiji stood on tiptoe and saw many people gathered together, and immediately called Shirakawa Kaede to join them.
All right, since he was not familiar with the place anyway, Shirakawa Feng followed the startled Yamashita Daiji into the crowd.
It turned out that we had come to the right place. The bulletin board was covered with process instructions, and there were young and senior students patiently explaining things.
After figuring out the reporting process, Baichuan Feng prepared to go through the formalities first and then put his luggage away.
Meiji University has student dormitories, but they are not affiliated with the school. Instead, the school cooperates with private enterprises to divide up many apartments.
Whether or not to live in the dormitory is entirely up to the students' choice, and there is no problem in renting an apartment on their own.
A boy like Shirakawa Kaede who comes from the countryside would definitely choose the dormitory. It's just cheaper.
Renting an apartment outside not only has good infrastructure, but also protects personal privacy and security very well, which is something that RB people pay particular attention to.
However, the cost will naturally increase, at least tens of thousands of yen a month. This is generally the first choice for students from well-off families.
Of course, most people attribute it to being ordinary, with more than half of the students applying for dormitories, and the accommodation fee of around 10,000 yen per month is still quite tempting.
"Hey, why is there no reporting process for the Department of Science and Engineering?"
Daiji Yamashita searched the bulletin board for a long time but couldn't find the school building of his department.
Seeing that this guy was still confused, Baichuan Feng reminded him with a strange look on his face, "Yamashita-kun."
"Eh?"
"The Faculty of Science and Technology is not located at the Izumi campus, but at the Ikuta campus in Kanagawa Prefecture."
"Ah~!" Yamashita Daiji was completely stunned.
Baichuan Feng laughed unkindly. The other party's silly look reminded him of Kotaro.
"It's over!" Yamashita Daiji's face was full of despair. After saying this, he turned around and ran towards Meidaimae Station in a hurry.
He ran two steps and then stopped again, "See you next time, Shirakawa-kun!"
Baichuan Feng waved at him, signaling him to get down to business.
Looking at the other person's flustered back, Baichuan Feng was curious about how such a thick-skinned guy could be admitted to the Faculty of Science and Engineering.
Shirakawa Kaede's major is Faculty of Business Administration , Department of Business Administration.
He didn't know why his predecessor chose this major, as it seemed a bit incompatible with his country background.
If he were to choose now, he would probably prefer the Department of Science and Engineering. After all, he studied science in his previous life, so it would be easier for him to learn now.
In my vague memory, it might be because I had a better chance of being admitted to this major, and also because of my mother's advice.
In the imagination of the mother and her son, studying science and engineering would certainly give them more job opportunities, but she did not want her children to work in a factory and deal with machines all their lives.
Graduates of business administration are likely to be white-collar workers in offices. At least this way their work will be easier, and it will also be respectable to mention it in front of outsiders.
In fact, she was just overthinking it, and the facts might not be what she thought.
But Baichuan Feng didn't worry about it, after all, his vision was limited. You can't expect a woman who has never left the mountain village to know much about the city.
Since I'm here, I'll just make the best of it. I'll just study business administration. He doesn't have high requirements, just a successful graduation.
Although he may not necessarily use the diploma in the future, the connections he gained in college are equally important besides knowledge, especially for him.
RB is also a society based on human relationships. In the current era, the influence of tradition is much greater than that of later generations.
I shuttled between different teaching buildings and finally completed the admission procedures at noon.
Not to mention that Mingzhi University’s teaching buildings are very modern, which is in line with its theme of inclusiveness and openness.
Shirakawa Kaede's dormitory is not far from the campus. It takes more than ten minutes to walk or three to five minutes by bicycle. It is very convenient.
Most of the dormitories at RB University are located off-campus, which is very different from the teaching and living combined in China.
Following the simple map instructions, he finally found his dormitory apartment building near a river.
At first glance, the exterior is very similar to the cluster house I stayed in at Uncle Kashiwagi's house last night.
Wow, no wonder it's so cheap, less than 10,000 yen a month for accommodation, water and electricity. It turned out to be a cluster of houses, and judging by the age, it's only slightly bigger than the Kashiwagi family's.
Bai Chuanfeng climbed up the stairs with his luggage on his back, and walked around before finally finding his dormitory. He knocked on the door and waited for a while, but no one opened it.
Maybe there was no one there yet, so Baichuan Feng took out the key, opened the same iron door and entered.
Only the rough outline of the room could be seen in the dim room. When I turned on the switch on the wall, everything in front of me suddenly became clear.
Even the internal structure is similar to where Uncle Kashiwagi lives, with three separate rooms.
Hey, looking at the cups, bowls and chopsticks on the table, it seems like someone lives here.
"Deduct your chicken baby"
The sudden sound scared Baichuan Feng so much that he turned around and took two steps back, stepping on the can with one foot, making a crisp sound.
I looked forward with lingering fear, and saw a figure with long hair and a strange posture sitting on the sofa in the public area.
The reason why his posture is peculiar is that this classmate has his hands in a flower-picking posture, with his palms facing upwards on his knees.
Is this... meditation?
"Hello, Baichuan Feng, Department of Business Administration." Baichuan Feng was unsure what the other person was doing, so he could only greet him politely.
The other party nodded calmly, still maintaining a Zen-like posture.
"Is your classmate from the philosophy department?" Unable to suppress his curiosity, Baichuan Feng asked another question.
The other party opened his eyes and said calmly, "Meiji University does not have a philosophy department."
After saying that, he sighed, "Humans are always so self-righteous, Amen." Then he made the sign of a cross with his right hand in front of his chest before returning to his normal sitting position.
What? Baichuan Feng had a lot of question marks on his head. What kind of people are the ones who share the same dormitory with him?
However, this was not the most amazing thing. Just when Baichuan Feng was suspicious, there was a sound of keys turning at the door.
After it was opened, the person who walked in was none other than Yamashita Daiji who I met in the morning.
"Yamashita-kun?" Shirakawa Feng felt like his head was a mess. "Why are you here? Aren't you from the Department of Science and Engineering?"
"Oh," Yamashita Daiji smiled sheepishly, "I specifically applied to be transferred to this dormitory. It took me a long time to find out which room you, Shirakawa-kun, live in."
After saying that, Yamashita Daiji greeted another student in the room enthusiastically, "Classmate, your hairstyle is very cool, wild and uninhibited. Oh, I'm Yamashita Daiji, Department of Mechanical Information Engineering."
The figure on the sofa smiled as if he had met a soulmate, "Kiryu Juichiro, Department of Law, nice to meet you."
Shirakawa looked at the weirdo Kiryu Juichiro, and then at the fat and smiling Yamashita Daiji. He suddenly had a premonition that his university life would definitely be very exciting.
