Chapter 7: Change of Position

After seeing off the families of the three victims, the reception room fell into silence.
It was Lin Wenjue who spoke up and broke the silence.
He muttered: "The three victims all had a dark past, but were saved to varying degrees. Why did the murderer kill them? Because they were optimistic? This doesn't make sense..."
"If I were the murderer..." Chi Xia's voice rang out, attracting everyone's attention.
She had a thoughtful look on her face, as if she had fallen into another world. Only her voice became colder and colder.
"If I am a perpetrator living in filth and inferiority, unable to escape from the darkness, then how would I feel when I meet someone who still has hope even though they are hurt?"
Luo Xun looked at her and narrowed his eyes.
"I would feel jealous and resentful. I would wonder why. We are all living in the abyss. Why can some people crawl out of the quagmire, but I can't escape? I need to humbly cover up the darkness in my heart, suffer torture every day, and walk in the mud with a false mask, unable to break free."
"so……"
She took a deep breath and said, "I want to destroy and damage, because in my heart, dirty darkness can never coexist with good light."
After she finished speaking, she felt a sharp gaze falling on her, and suddenly relaxed and lowered her head: "I was just saying it casually."
Luo Xun thought, she was not just saying it casually, she was empathizing with the murderer.
A person who can easily empathize with a murderer is dangerous no matter how outstanding she is and where she is.
This was the first question that Luo Xun thought of.
Cao Bin sighed, "That's not the case. Killing someone just for this? The murderer must be mentally ill!"
Luo Xun retracted his gaze from Chi Xia and said coldly, "Why not? A healthy person wouldn't kill anyone."
"But we still overlooked the most important issue."
Lin Wenjue asked: "What's the matter with the eyes of the deceased? Why did the murderer have to gouge out the victim's eyes and replace them with glass?"
Luo Xun looked at Chi Xia: "Chi Xia, what do you think?"
Chi Xia was slightly surprised, but still replied: "Officer Lin is right. This is indeed the most important point in this case. The murderer gouged out the eyes. Was it out of hatred or love? And what does the glass inlay mean, which is famous for its beauty and has a high collection value? If you figure this out, I think the case will be solved."
Curly finally interrupted: " Even if we know this now, how can we investigate? The murderer hasn't revealed any trace."
"When a goose passes by, it leaves its voice behind. When a person passes by, he leaves his name behind. He just hid it a little too deep. It's impossible for him not to leave clues behind."
Chi Xia clenched his fist lightly and pressed down on the table secretly.
When she said this, Luo Xun saw the subtle sarcasm at the corner of her lips again. She was clearly just an intern, but she seemed to look down on the murderer who had made them annoyed for a long time.
She suddenly looked at Luo Xun, which caught him off guard and he looked away in panic.
Chi Xia said: "Captain Luo, I want to go to the victim's residence to take a look, is that okay?"
"I'll take Xiao Xia with me. We can only try our best now."
Lin Wenjue was worried that Luo Xun would not agree, so he spoke quickly.
But Luo Xun pulled a handful of hair and said, "No, I'll go. You have other tasks."
"What?" Lin Wenjue didn't expect him to be so easy to talk to this time, and he was a little slow to react.
Chi Xia also looked over with some curiosity.
Luo Xun stood up and knocked on the table: "Chen Li's social relations have not been fully investigated yet. You should go to her workplace and friends to find out more about her situation, as well as her whereabouts before the incident. Also, check with Zhang Wen and Lin Wei to see if we have missed anything."
"Okay." Lin Wenjue nodded: "Let's do it."
Everyone split up into two groups. Luo Xun picked up the clothes on a chair and shook his head at Chi Xia: "Why are you standing there if you don't want to leave?"
"oh."
Chi Xia came to his senses and quickly followed his steps.
Walking up to Luo Xun's jeep, Chi Xia frowned. The car looked a little familiar.
"What's wrong?" Luo Xun had already stepped forward with one foot, but when he saw her like this, he stepped back.
Chi Xia asked him: "Captain Luo, were you at Dongzhou University this morning?"
Luo Xun's eyes flashed with inquiry: "How do you know?"
Chi Xia smiled: "I am quite familiar with this car."
Luo Xun frowned, thought of something, snorted and chuckled, he patted the car body: "Can you drive?"
"meeting."
"Then you drive it."
Luo Xun took a detour to the co-pilot seat: "I haven't slept for two days."
Chi Xia responded, and after getting in the car, she found that Luo Xun's car was a manual transmission. She was confused for two seconds, then shifted the gear as usual.
Luo Xun glanced at her movements, and finally a hint of unexpected meaning appeared in his eyes.
He felt a little uncomfortable in his mouth and wanted to smoke. He put his hands in his pockets and took them out again. He asked Chi Xia while coughing: "You left like this, don't you have anything to ask me?"
"have."
Chi Xia opened the car window: "Captain Luo, go ahead and smoke, I don't mind."
Luo Xun was startled, coughed twice, rummaged around in the car, found a lollipop that Curly had thrown away, tore open the candy coating and stuffed it into his mouth, resting his elbow on the car window: "Ask."
Chi Xia asked her own question without looking away: "Normally, after the incident, the police would investigate the death trajectory of the deceased before he was killed, including surveillance , interviews, etc., but I didn't find any relevant clues in those materials. Is it because the relevant clues are unknown, or is there another reason?"
Luo Xun laughed: "When did you discover this?"
Chi Xia told the truth: "When you come back."
Luo Xun looked at her, then looked away: "There are many suspicious points in this case, and the question you asked is one of them."
He paused and said, "We immediately retrieved the relevant surveillance videos after the incident and investigated the last time they left home before the incident. But strangely, all the clues show that Zhang Wen and Lin Wei never left home after returning home before they were killed."
Due to inertia, Luo Xun leaned forward and Chi Xia stepped on the brakes.
"You never left after returning home?" Chi Xia's eyes were full of shock.
"yes."
Luo Xun glanced at her with dissatisfaction: "Just drive properly, why did you stop?"
Chi Xia restarted the car and explained, "I just think it's unreasonable. This is impossible. The first crime scene must be at the murderer's fixed place. It can't be at the victim's home. This is too risky."
Luo Xun had the same idea from the beginning to the end, but when the facts were laid out before him, he was confused.
The car drove quite far away, and Chi Xia suddenly said: "This possibility is basically non-existent. Sometimes, surveillance can be deceiving, or the first crime scene is right here..."
Chi Xia rejected the idea halfway through his speech, shook his head, and stopped talking.
Luo Xun bit the candy ball into pieces, not knowing what . His face wrinkled from the sour taste, and he swallowed the candy residue whole.
He said, "What you said is the same as what I thought at the time, but Chi Xia, what I need is evidence and clues, the real thing."
The car turned a corner, and the wind rushed in from the window, blowing Chi Xia's hair.
Luo Xun turned her head to look and saw her protruding nose bridge. Her messy hair made her feel uncomfortable. She wrinkled her nose and freed one hand to lift her hair away.
Then she said, "Captain Luo, we will definitely find it."
Luo Xun felt that he was definitely not seeing things. This intern had two faces.
