Chapter 67: Heading to Madison
The night waiting for dawn is always particularly long. When Yang Mo was so weak that he was about to fall asleep, the sky finally dawned. At dawn, the barking of the wolves gradually stopped, but... no vehicles passed this road.
Yang Mo tried hard to keep her tired eyelids open and wait for the car to come, but... unfortunately, there was not a single one.
When the sun came out, Yang Mo finally couldn't resist the sleepiness and fell into a deep sleep.
He didn't know how much time had passed, but when Yang Mo opened his eyes, he saw the sunset and Christine was sitting next to him eating cookies one bite at a time.
"Are we still on the road now?" Yang Mo said somewhat desperately.
"Yeah." Kristen nodded, then handed over a bottle of water and said, "Do you want to eat something first?"
How could Yang Mo have the energy to eat? He felt anxious and asked, "Is there no car passing by here?"
"Yes!" Christine nodded.
"Then why didn't you stop it?" Yang Mo was about to collapse. Since he saw the car, why did he still stay here?
"I stopped him, didn't I? All this food was bought from him." Christine raised the food in her hand and said flatteringly, "I was afraid you would be hungry, so I bought more."
Fuck!
Yang Mo slapped his head. He couldn't stand it anymore and said very frustratedly: "Dajie, you are worried about me being hungry but not worried about me missing the game?"
"It's okay. I've used their phone number to call the towing service, and they promised to arrive before dark." Christine said while eating potato chips.
"I really admire you." Yang Mo muttered in Chinese, took a hot dog from her hand and stuffed it into his mouth with great effort. He had been hungry for almost a day and a night.
After finishing a hot dog in a few bites, he continued to take a handful of potato chips and kept stuffing them into his stomach. Seeing Yang Mo constantly stuffing food into his stomach, Kristen quickly handed him a bottle of water and reminded him to eat slowly.
Yang Mo's hungry stomach had just received a little bit of energy replenishment, so how could she stop?
After eating about ten bags of potato chips, Yang Mo finally managed to stop his hunger. If there was a bowl of delicious rice in front of him, he would definitely finish it all in ten seconds without leaving a single grain of rice.
"Can I go watch your game tonight?" Kristen whispered to Yang Mo.
"Let's talk about it after I can catch up with the competition. I really admire you. Why do you have to involve me in this? Look at how many sins I have committed today." Yang Mo said with some complaint.
"This is our fate. God guided us to be together." Christine said devoutly. As a Christian, she seemed to believe in fate very much.
However, Yang Mo didn't believe it. So he shook his head without commenting, and said, "God really didn't do a good thing last night."
Kristen burst out laughing when she heard that, then came closer and said delicately, "I think God did a good thing last night. At least he let me meet you."
Yang Mo was speechless seeing Kristen's look. Considering that she was still a virgin, she didn't accuse her of being pretentious.
Just then, a humming sound was heard in the distance. Yang Mo opened the car door, looked up, and saw that the tow truck had arrived. She was immediately delighted.
When the tow truck came, Yang Mo immediately borrowed a cell phone from the driver and quickly called Pat Riley. As soon as he called and introduced himself, Pat Riley's angry voice came over: "Yang, your behavior these two days has disappointed me greatly."
"I..." It was the first time that Yang Mo heard Pat Riley's angry tone, and he couldn't help but quickly explain: "Sir, this is a misunderstanding. I was trapped in the wild last night..."
"You went to have sex with Kristen , right? Now the media all over the United States are reporting this. You intervened in Kristen's relationship, and then you two eloped. Is that right?" Pat Riley became more and more angry. When he saw the newspaper before, he still believed Yang Mo, but when he asked Dwyane Wade who was also present at the time, Dwyane told him: It was true. Yang took less than half an hour to catch up with Kristen.
Undoubtedly, Dwyane Wade's words hurt Yang Mo badly, causing Yang Mo's impression in Pat Riley's heart to drop rapidly. In Pat Riley's view, if a basketball player is too closely involved with the entertainment industry, it will cause the media focus to be unbalanced, which will greatly damage the image of the entire team.
"No, it's really just a misunderstanding. Kristen and I have nothing to do with each other. Our car broke down last night. I just found a tow truck and I'm on my way to Madison now." Yang Mo said anxiously but sincerely.
"Come here quickly. We'll talk about the specific issues after the game." Pat Riley left a message that gave Yang Mo a slight chance of recovery: "Magloire sprained his neck last night and can't play today. I hope you can hold up the defense inside."
"Okay, no problem. I'll meet up with everyone at Madison soon." Yang Mo hung up the phone happily, and then said to the tow truck driver, "Madison Garden, thank you."
"Aren't we going to the repair shop?" the driver asked in confusion.
"Go there first, then go to the repair shop." Yang Mo said to him confidently, and then turned to Christine and asked, "Do you have any objections?"
"I didn't." Christine shook her head like a little wife, with an expression that said she would do whatever you say.
Seeing that she had no objection, Yang Mo quickly got into the driver's seat of the trailer, and Christine followed suit.
After a while, the driver completed the towing procedure and started the vehicle and drove towards Madison Garden.
He drove for a while, then suddenly turned his head, looked at Yang Mo and Kristen, and asked in confusion: "Are you the basketball player and movie star who eloped?"
"What do you mean?" Christine asked confusedly.
The driver quickly pulled out a copy of Entertainment Weekly from the side, handed it to them both, and said, “At first I thought it looked like it. I didn’t expect it to really be you.”
The two took the newspaper, and the front-page headline was about the two of them, with a series of photos placed in the middle, showing the two of them holding hands and running wildly at JAY-Z's party. At the end was a picture of Robert drinking to drown his sorrows with a lost look on his face.
The title is even more explosive: The Twilight heroine dumped her boyfriend and eloped with a Miami player, while Robert drank to drown his sorrows and looked haggard.
