Chapter 66: Vixen
Chapter 67 Vixen
Fang Qing's words hurt Zhang Mingyu a lot. He thought that with his own charm, he would surely move her, but he didn't expect this girl to be so hard-hearted.
He stared at Fang Qing for a long time, and finally asked through gritted teeth.
"Are you sure? Aren't you too shy to admit it?"
Fang Qing: I'm too shy!
This weird remark made Fang Qing laugh. She walked out from behind Wen Ling, looked at Zhang Mingyu who was looking angry across from her, and rolled up her sleeves.
"Classmate Zhang Mingyu, I'm sure, very sure. I'm a very thick-skinned person. There's nothing I dare not admit. I'm telling the truth, and please don't misunderstand me anymore."
The air was quiet for a few seconds. Zhang Mingyu looked directly at Fang Qing, and finally lowered his head and sneered, "Okay, I was just being sentimental." Throwing his clothes over his shoulders, he walked around Fang Qing, paused when passing by Wen Ning, glanced at Wen Ning strangely, and then strode away.
Seeing the noise subside, the surrounding students also slowly dispersed. Wen Ling walked over to Fang Qing and breathed a sigh of relief. "It's finally resolved. I'm relieved now."
Fang Qing smiled and thanked Wen Ling, then glanced at Wen Ning. "You two... why did you suddenly start fighting?"
Wen Ling opened her mouth to explain, but she received her brother's gaze and silently shut her mouth.
Fang Qing ignored Wen Ling's movements, only to look at Wen Ning in surprise. "Are we going to have to take a basketball test for senior year physical education?"
Wen Ning shook his head. "It's just a friendly match between the two classes. We need a break from studying so much lately."
"Really?"
"Why would I lie to you?"
Fang Qing asked suspiciously. "But you two clearly made a bet."
Wen Ning sighed inwardly. This girl used to be so clueless, how could she be so smart today?
"You're overthinking it. Go back."
Fang Qing glanced back every few steps as she returned to the classroom. But she couldn't fall asleep. Wang Xuefei ran over, following her, peppering her with questions.
"Qingqing, Ning Shen is so handsome when he plays basketball. I support Ning Shen now. I know why you didn't agree to the handsome boy. With such a god-like person around, who would still look down on others..."
Fang Qing patted her and said, "Don't talk nonsense. We are just good friends."
Wang Xuefei laughed and said, "Oh, I know. I won't say anything nonsense."
But two days later, Fang Qing still heard some rumors.
While fetching water, the students behind him kept muttering, "Hey, that's her, I heard two men fought over her..."
"Is this true? I didn't expect she had those skills!"
"Of course she's pretty, of course she has that ability!"
"Tsk, I don't see what's so pretty about her, why do they all like her?"
Fang Qing fetched water and left expressionlessly, completely ignoring the discussions behind him, but Wang Xuefei ran over in panic, "Qingqing, what should I do? The school is spreading rumors that you are the reincarnation of a fox spirit who specializes in seducing men."
Fang Qing stumbled and almost dropped the kettle, "If I were a fox spirit, I would have eaten their brains long ago. Ignore them, say whatever you want..."
Fang Qing thought that as long as he ignored them, the rumors would slowly fade away, but he didn't expect that someone would tell the parents about these things, and Wen Ning's mother soon found out.
Wen Ning stood at the school gate, looking at his excited mother with a gloomy face. "Mom, what exactly brought you to school?"
Mother Wen snorted. "What is it? Let me ask you, have you been in contact with Fang Qing again? Zhang's mother told me that you actually fought with others for her at school. Is that true?"
Wen Ning's face remained calm, but his hands were clenched into fists behind his back. "You believe everything others say. I was playing basketball with my classmates at school, and Fang Qing just came to cheer us on..."
Seeing her son's unhappy face, the confidence she had when she came here gradually disappeared. She hurriedly coaxed her son, "That's what everyone else is saying. I'm also worried that you're going to miss out on your studies because of Fang Qing..."
Wen Ning took a deep breath. "Mom, you know how my grades are, and you know what kind of person Fang Qing is. I don't understand why you blame all the bad things on others. Don't say such things again. It's getting late, and I have classes. You should go back too."
Wen Ning hurried back to the classroom. Only then did his mother leave the school with a bright face.
Although the incident had passed, rumors of Fang Qing being a vixen continued to spread. The homeroom teacher, troubled by Fang Qing's unfortunate fate, wondered why she was so unlucky, and how everything could be linked to her. Finally, she had to talk to each student, and the rumors finally died down.
Zhang Mingyu remained true to his promise and stopped bothering Fang Qing. Soon, Wang Xuefei arrived with news that Zhang Mingyu had gone to the provincial sports competition. Soon after, Wen Ning and the others began their final sprint.
Fang Qing, also about to take her final exams for her sophomore year, began to study furiously. In a
blink of an eye, the trees in the schoolyard turned green, and the annual college entrance exams were approaching.
The other grades finished their final exams and went on summer vacation. After her exams, Fang Qing stayed to help clean up the exam room. As she left school, she unexpectedly ran into Wen Ning.
Thinking that the college entrance examination would be held tomorrow, Fang Qing felt that she should go up and encourage her, "Why haven't you gone home yet? The exam is tomorrow, you should have a good rest."
Wen Ning didn't expect to meet her here, and a smile appeared on his handsome face, "Why are you out so late?"
The two of them exchanged a few simple greetings. Seeing that it was getting late, Wen Ning offered to take Fang Qing home first.
Fang Qing was afraid that others would see her and misunderstand her, so she quickly waved her hand to refuse. But Wen Ning didn't give her a chance to respond and pushed her out of the school gate.
The summer evening breeze blew past her ears, blowing Fang Qing's long hair.
This seemed to be the first time she and Wen Ning walked together alone. She didn't feel anything before, but now she felt a little awkward. The two of them didn't say a word all the way to the door of their house. Fang Qing finally breathed a sigh of relief, "Thank you, I'm home."
Wen Ning looked at Fang Qing, "After all, I drove you so far, won't you treat me to a glass of water?"
"Ah? Oh! Then... do you want to come in for a glass of water?"
Wen Ning nodded, and without Fang Qing's reaction, he walked straight in. Fang Fang suddenly remembered the two big dogs at home. She was afraid that Wen Ning would be accidentally hurt by the dogs, so she hurried after them and was about to stop them, but she found that the two big wolfhounds were squatting at Wen Ning's feet, sniffing and wagging their tails and acting coquettishly.
"Have you been here before? When did they become so familiar with you?"
Wen Ning stroked the dog's head and glanced up at Fang Qing, giving him a mysterious smile. "It's a secret."
Inside the house, Fang's mother heard the noise outside and saw that it was Wen Ning. Her brows lit up with joy. "Oh, it's Xiao Ning! Come in, come in!"
Wen Ning greeted, taking off his shoes and entering. Fang Qing's eyes widened as she saw his mother expertly handing Wen Ning a pair of slippers.
"You come to my house often? How come I didn't know?"
