Chapter 6 Idea
The friends worked together until the sun was high in the sky. Everyone was so hungry that they couldn't move. They thought it was time for breakfast, so they carried their things and went home.
Zhou Wulang still squatted down and wanted to carry Manbao on his back.
But Manbao felt sorry for his brother, mainly because he was dirty, sweaty and smelly, so Manbao insisted on walking back by himself.
Zhou Wulang thought about it and thought that since the road from here to home was mostly flat, Manbao should be able to walk, and his mother would probably not beat him if she saw him, so he took Manbao's hand and went home with peace of mind.
Along the way, we met many villagers who were returning home from the fields to have breakfast. The Zhou family was now the hot topic in the village, especially Zhou Silang.
When everyone saw them, they first looked at Zhou Silang's butt with concern, and then taught him earnestly: "Silang, don't gamble, it's the kind of thing that can ruin your family."
"Shiro, you are still young, don't make such mistakes again in the future."
…
When he met someone and received some advice, Zhou Silang's face turned green and he didn't answer. Wulang and Liulang also felt ashamed. Only Manbao, because she was still young, had not yet felt ashamed, and she sincerely felt that the advice from these uncles and brothers was absolutely right.
So she agreed to everything, "Sixth Uncle is right, if you see my fourth brother going to the casino in the future, you can beat him up on behalf of my father, and my father will definitely treat you to a big meal when you come back."
"Isn't it, Brother Dazhu? Next time you go to the county town, keep an eye on my fourth brother. If he doesn't behave himself, tie him up and bring him back. My mother will definitely thank you."
Seeing that the fourth brother was silent with a gloomy face, Manbao slapped him and said, "You are rude. Didn't you see that your uncles and brothers are talking to you? Are you still not sincere in repentance and still want to gamble?"
Zhou Silang could only express his gratitude with a sad face, and he had to say thank you to anyone who talked about him or scolded him.
When the villagers saw this, they all said privately that Silang was probably a prodigal son who had turned over a new leaf. In fact, he was still young and it was possible that he could not resist the temptation for a while.
So the person who originally wanted to propose marriage to him but then gave up the idea had the idea again.
If Silang can reform himself, he will be a pretty good young man. He is strong, does his job well , and has many promising brothers.
Yes, the villagers all felt that the three married sons of the Zhou family were very promising. They were good at farm work and hardworking. Whenever they had free time, they would go to the landlord's house to do odd jobs to earn money. Then, looking at Old Man Zhou and Mrs. Qian, they were also first-class hardworking people. Similarly, Zhou Silang should not be bad either.
Everyone looked at Zhou Silang with a little more tolerance.
Zhou Silang failed to realize this because as soon as he got home his mother told him to chop wood.
Now that the autumn harvest is over, the family has to prepare firewood for the winter. In the past, these tasks were all coordinated by the three older brothers. The heavy work of chopping wood has always been done by the third brother because he is very strong.
The unmarried ones among them were responsible for collecting firewood from the mountains and carrying the chopped firewood to the shack.
However, because Zhou Silang lost money in gambling, Qian and Old Zhou discussed and transferred the job of chopping wood to him. This was a punishment and also a show for the sons and daughters-in-law in the family .
There are many children in the family, and their fingers are of different lengths. Qian definitely cannot treat them all equally, but she has to be able to get by on the surface. Otherwise, if one of them makes a fuss, the family will have no peace.
Old Zhou squatted on the doorstep with a sad face, staring at his fourth son to get the axe, then he snorted and looked away.
Seeing the little girl, a smile appeared on her face, "Manbao is back, did you have fun?"
Manbao nodded happily, "I'm happy, Dad. It's fun on the mountain. There are a lot of flowers and grass. I'll go there again in the afternoon!"
"The sun is strong in the afternoon, so you can take a nap at home and let your fourth brother and the others go," said Old Zhou. "If you like flowers, ask your eldest niece to pick them for you. You can't stay in the sun. If you get sunburned, you'll have to take medicine."
Manbao wrinkled her nose and her whole face looked bitter when she thought of the black juice her mother was going to eat.
Old man Zhou was very happy to see this and his mood finally improved a little. He asked his daughter to come into the house and sit down and have breakfast soon.
Farmers eat breakfast after finishing a round of farm work, and only have two meals a day.
One meal is at 9:00 in the morning, and the next is at 1:00 in the morning. After dinner, clean up and go to bed after dark.
This is the case for adults, with children being the only exception. In summer and autumn, because the days are long and night falls, families usually cook some porridge for children to eat at night so that they don't get too hungry.
Manbao went into the main room. Qian was not in good health. She was shocked, angry and frightened yesterday. Today she lay in bed and didn't get up.
Seeing my daughter covered in grass debris, I couldn't help but laugh, "Did you have fun?"
Manbao hummed twice and sat on the edge of the bed, looking very well behaved. "Mom, I want to go to the market with my second brother next time."
"What are you going to do?"
“I also want to learn how to do business.”
Qian couldn't help laughing, "You just want to go out and have fun, right?"
Qian thought about it and realized that Manbao didn't go to the temple fair in early spring, and the autumn harvest was over. If he didn't go now, he would not be able to go out when the weather got cold.
Thinking of this, Qian agreed, "Let your second sister-in-law take you there, and the big guys should go too. You were all scared yesterday, so go out and have some fun to calm your mind."
As for things like doing business, Qian never took it to heart. In her opinion, they were just childish talk.
Manbao didn't think it was just childish talk, she was very serious.
So after breakfast she didn't go to school to attend classes, but instead called her fifth and sixth brothers and nephews and nieces to work together.
Wu Lang reached out and touched his sister's forehead. "You don't have a fever, why are you talking nonsense?"
Liu Lang smiled and said, "What can we sell at home?"
Manbao shook his head, "No, but there are some outside."
She pointed outside and said, "There are so many beautiful grasses and flowers outside. We can sell them all."
Everyone: “…”
Now even Santou said, "It can't be sold!"
"Why can't they be sold?" Since someone as smart and capable as Koko likes these wild grasses and flowers, people outside should like them too.
Manbao was particularly dictatorial. He waved his hand and said, "It's decided. We are going to pick flowers and pull weeds to sell."
Wu Lang wanted to persuade her, but Liu Lang stopped him and said, "Listen to Man Bao."
"Little sister is stupid, are you stupid too?"
Liu Lang: "I'm not stupid, but if we don't listen to her, can we still go to the market?"
Wu Lang thought about it and felt that it made sense.
The market is quite far from their village. It takes more than half an hour to walk there. The last time they went there was during the temple fair in early spring.
The two of them immediately winked at Datou, Daya and the others, and everyone understood what they meant and happily promised Manbao that they would bring a lot of beautiful wild grasses and flowers to the market that day.
Never mind, let’s go to the market first.
