Chapter 6: Does being poor mean you are unhappy?

The whole school was talking about the auction all day, and many people asked me if Sora was my boyfriend, otherwise how could he have my personal belongings?
I was too lazy to deal with everyone, so I went home as soon as school was over. I felt annoyed when I thought about explaining the auction to my classmates if I met them on the way, so I chose a quiet road with few people and walked home alone.
I just turned a corner and saw two or three boys with dyed yellow hair and fashionable yet tacky clothes leaning against the wall smoking. They looked like bad boys. I didn't want to meet them, but there was only one road ahead and no other way to go, so I had to lower my head and try not to attract their attention.
However, before I approached them, I heard a sudden noise of footsteps beside me, and then three more boys jumped out from nowhere. The six of them surrounded me with evil smiles on their faces.
My heart suddenly hung in my throat, and I thought in annoyance that I should have turned back earlier. I really shouldn't have taken this road.
"What do you mean?" I knew the more scared I was, the more arrogant they would become, and judging from their age, they were probably younger than me.
"I don't mean anything else. We just want to borrow some money." A boy of medium build was smoking a cigarette and his voice was full of provocation. There was a tuft of red in his yellow hair and his eyes were very evil.
"Since you want money, I'll give it to you." I was surrounded by them, and I knew that it would be no good for me to force them. Anyway, the thing I had the most was money, so I immediately took out my wallet from my bag, took out my ID, left the money for the taxi, and threw the rest to them.
"Qian Moli is really rich." The boy bent down to pick up the wallet, opened it, glanced at it, and stuffed it into his pocket with satisfaction. However, his eyes suddenly became stern, and his voice was full of mockery. He laughed, "But I heard that Miss Qian Moli's private auction today was very successful. Even Master Beitang Ying went to show his support. The money from the auction should be more than this, right?"
I immediately became nervous. Since they knew my name and knew there would be an auction today, they must have had some plan and it was not just a simple matter of robbing money.
"I've given you the money, what else do you want?" I was so nervous that my whole body was cold and I looked at them warily.
"We are satisfied, but someone is very dissatisfied with you and wants us to deal with you! And you are so beautiful. If we cut a few knives on your face, I am afraid you will not be so arrogant in the future, right?"
I was terrified and couldn't help shaking all over. Who was against me and wanted to find someone to harm me secretly? Was it because I was too popular in school that someone was jealous and wanted to retaliate? Before I could figure it out, the thugs who were talking were already approaching me. I glanced around and there was no one in sight, let alone a chance to ask for help. I immediately took a deep breath and had to use force against them!
"Don't touch Miss Moli!" A roar suddenly pierced my eardrums, and the gangsters who were approaching me were stunned. I looked over in surprise, and saw Feng Jingye striding his two long legs, running towards me at an incredible speed as if he was riding a wind-fire wheel, his black hair flying in the wind, constantly jumping up and down with his running steps. As he ran, he shouted loudly, "I'm here to save you, Miss Moli!"
The sense of crisis that I had originally felt of being alone and powerless suddenly eased a lot, and I watched Feng Jingye approaching me with excitement.
The gangster was also a little panicked. He turned around, stood in a horse stance, and prepared to deal with Feng Jingye with a vigilant look.
I saw that Feng Jingye was tall and strong, so he could definitely take care of a few gangsters. That would save me a lot of trouble , and I became even more excited.
Feng Jingye finally ran over. I was secretly delighted in my heart. I only heard a "bang" sound, and the gangster's punch was so fast that it was almost impossible to see clearly. Feng Jingye didn't even have time to stretch out his fist before he was knocked to the ground with his legs up in the air, unable to move at all.
I looked at Feng Jingye lying on the ground in shock. He was really all show and no use.
"Hehe, I thought someone was coming to save you, but it turns out to be such a good-for-nothing!" The gangster became particularly arrogant and was about to attack me with his fists.
I have never seen such a boy who doesn't know how to be gentle with women. I thought that if they knew how to respect women, they would not become hooligans. Therefore, I felt despair for such boys. Seeing his fist about to hit my face, I immediately realized that his target was my face. I quickly turned sideways to avoid his attack, and then I used my legs to kick him hard in the buttocks.
He staggered after being kicked by me, turned his head and glared at me in anger, and yelled at the others around him: "Hurry up!"
I secretly cried out that it was not good. I could barely handle three or two thugs, but it would be difficult to handle five or six, so I definitely couldn't use force. I only attacked one of the thugs, and when I felt someone was about to pounce on me from behind, I immediately dodged, letting them fight. I then took the opportunity to kill two birds with one stone, aiming directly at their crotch and kicking them accurately, causing them to scream in pain.
In just a few moves, several of them were hit one after another, lying on the ground holding their crotches and groaning. I looked at them coldly, stepped on the boy who wanted to scratch my face, and whispered to him: "Who asked you to stop me?"
The boy's features were twisted together in pain, and his voice was shaking: "We are paid to do things for others, we can't tell!"
I was so angry. They were not good at martial arts, but they were telling me the rules of the underworld. It was so funny that I stepped on his vitals, pretending to crush him, and asked, "Do you want to tell me or not? If you don't, I will make you a eunuch in the Qing Palace!"
"No, I'm still young. It was Yu Hanmi. It was Yu Hanmi who asked us to do this!" He was so scared that his face was full of tears, and he confessed very quickly.
Yu Hanmi? I thought of this name in disbelief. She is a lady from the most prestigious family in our city and has a lot of admirers. I heard that she has a bit of a spoiled personality, but we rarely interact. Moreover, she doesn't study in our school, so why is she against me? And how could she, a lady from a noble family, use such a despicable method? It seems that I have to be more careful of her in the future.
The little hooligans cried because I stepped on them. I was upset and let go of him, whispering , "Get lost!"
"What's going on? Do you need my help?" Sora appeared out of nowhere and jumped in front of me.
As soon as he saw the gangster getting up from the ground, he punched him without hesitation, knocking the gangster who had just gotten up with great difficulty to the ground again, and the gangster cried out in pain again.
When I saw him, I felt even more upset. If he hadn't been causing trouble for the auction, I wouldn't have gotten into such trouble. I just said coldly, "I've already solved it. I don't need your hypocritical help."
Seeing that I was unhappy, he was a little puzzled: "I came here to help you with good intentions, why are you making such a nasty face?"
"Don't give me that. Why did you just stand by and watch on the bus last time? Now that I've knocked them down, you come to help. You're clearly putting on an act." I glared at him with disdain.
"One thing is one thing. Last time you were so rude to me, so of course I don't want to help you." He explained guiltily.
"Well, I will still be rude to you now, so you can go away." I crossed my arms over my chest and looked at him proudly.
I think any man in the world would be so angry if he heard me talk like this that he would never bother to pay attention to me again.
"Whatever you say. Anyway, I held the auction of your private belongings and you agreed. To show my appreciation, I won't bother with you." He didn't care at all. He looked at me with a grin, looking very proud.
"Don't you have any self-respect?" I gave him a helpless look.
"Heh, will you die if you don't speak in such a choking way?" He retorted to me, a little anxiously.
I was just about to argue with him again when suddenly, a cell phone rang. It turned out to be coming from Feng Jingye who was lying on the ground.
"What's wrong with him?" Sora asked in surprise when he saw Feng Jingye lying on the ground.
I was just about to say that he was knocked unconscious by a punch, but then I thought that he was my admirer after all, and saying that would make him look useless, and I would also lose face, so I had to perfunctorily say, "He just took care of a few hooligans for me, and he was exhausted and collapsed."
After hearing this, Sora lowered his head and took a closer look at Feng Jingye, muttering softly, "It seems like he really helped you a lot, and now you have a big bump on your head."
I recalled the scene where Feng Jingye was knocked unconscious by a punch, and I had to remain silent.
Seeing that I ignored him, Sola looked up at the sky and said, "It's getting dark. Since he collapsed because he was trying to save you, we have to find a way to send him home."
I didn't want to cause such trouble, so I squatted down and pushed him, but he still didn't wake up. Suddenly I remembered that he had heard him say before that his family was very famous, and there should be someone to keep an eye on his whereabouts, so there would be no need for us to send him off. It happened that his phone kept ringing, so I said to Sola, "I don't know where he lives, you answer his call and see if it's his family calling."
Sora nodded, took out the phone from Feng Jingye's pocket and pressed the answer button.
I stared at him from the side and only heard him say, "Auntie, Feng Jingye collapsed from helping his classmates. He is sleeping now. Don't worry, I will take him home right away."
Seeing that Sola, who was always careless, was so sensible at this moment, I couldn't help but sarcastically said, "It seems that you made money today and are in a good mood. You actually took the initiative to send him back."
"That's right. Only people like you who are ungrateful and don't care about other people's lives. I'm wondering how you deserve so much luck?" Sora fought back, speaking mercilessly.
"Yes, there are people who stick to 'people like me' all day long and can't be driven away!" I gritted my teeth and deliberately emphasized my tone.
He glared at me and suddenly asked, "Where is Ninghe Road in Huibin District?"
"Why are you asking this?" I asked puzzledly.
"Feng Jingye's mother said that their home is there, but I'm not familiar with it, so I asked you." Sora said as a matter of course.
My heart sank suddenly. Ninghe Road in Huibin District is on the edge of the city, and generally only poor people live there. Why would Feng Jingye's family be there?
Seeing that I didn't say anything, Sola said helplessly, "Don't you know the way, young lady? You stay here and watch him. I'll go to the intersection to stop a car."
I nodded, looking at the handsome and elegant Feng Jingye with complicated eyes, a little confused.
The taxi sped along, and Feng Jingye was in a coma the whole time. The bumpy ride did not wake him up.
The car drove into a low and crowded building complex. The alley was too narrow, and even the driver was reluctant to drive the car in. Sora looked at the low and dilapidated houses, and was worried about where Feng Jingye's home was. At this time, a tall and plain-dressed auntie was walking towards us in the distance. As soon as she saw Feng Jingye leaning on Sora's shoulder, she immediately quickened her pace and ran towards us in a hurry and joy, repeatedly saying, "Xiaoye, are you okay?" As she said that, she was about to pull the unconscious Feng Jingye.
I guessed that she might be Feng Jingye's mother, so I quickly and politely greeted her, "Hello, Auntie."
Sora propped Feng Jingye on his shoulders and said repeatedly: "Feng Jingye just fell asleep temporarily, he will be fine after a rest."
The aunt looked at Feng Jingye with great concern. She wanted to help him herself, but hesitated for a moment. She just supported him from the side and chatted with us while walking forward: "Thank you for sending Xiaoye back."
I wanted to say goodbye, but since Sora was supporting him, he didn't need my help.
"We should thank Feng Jingye. Today, Qian Moli was walking on the street and was robbed by a few gangsters. If Feng Jingye hadn't helped, who knows what would have happened." Sora quickly took over the topic and signaled with his eyes, "Auntie, I am Qian Moli."
The aunt couldn't help but look at my face a few more times, her eyes revealing a hint of admiration for my beauty, and a bit of resentment for her son's injury because of me.
I knew that if I refused to leave now, Feng Jingye's mother would think that I was ungrateful, but the key point was that Feng Jingye really didn't help me at all. But I didn't want my aunt to think too much, so I quickly showed a guilty expression and said in a trembling voice: "It's all my fault. If it weren't for me, Jingye wouldn't have been hurt."
Seeing that I was about to cry, the aunt grabbed my hand and said, "It is his duty to help his classmates. Don't feel any psychological burden."
Sora on the other side smiled at me evilly. I glared at him. If he hadn't been so talkative, I wouldn't have been so embarrassed.
We walked until we came to an even more dilapidated little house. The house was so dilapidated that even the plaster was peeling off, the door was badly rusted, and the paint had long since fallen off.
Auntie opened the door and invited us in.
The scene inside the house was even more horrible. The floor was rough and had not even been painted with cement. In the small house, the fake leather sofa had a hole in it, and the yellow sponge inside wooden coffee table had been used for who knows how long and was already somewhat rotten. There was a mess on it, and I didn't know if it was water stains or oil stains. Since I was born, I have only seen such a dilapidated scene on TV, and for a moment I was a little shocked.
"Come, sit down and have some water. Don't be surprised that our home is simple." Auntie brought two cups of tea and enthusiastically invited us to sit down.
Only then did I come to my senses and realize that Auntie and Sora had just settled Feng Jingye and came to greet me on purpose.
I don't know how I took the tea, and I don't know how I sat on the peeling sofa. I looked down at the tea and it was the lowest quality daisy tea. The color was not very good and it was a little difficult to brew, but it still had a clear fragrance.
Isn't Feng Jingye's family very rich? Isn't his family a noble family? How could it be like this? It's too unbelievable. Where did he get the expensive gifts he usually gave me? Maybe what he gave me was not valuable at all, but I always threw away his gifts without mercy, and never checked whether the things inside were really valuable!
I suddenly remembered the tragic look on his face when he bought my hair at the auction. Maybe 500 yuan is not worth much for a wealthy family, but for him, he must have made a great determination to spend 500 yuan. I looked around again, and I felt an inexplicable feeling of loss and sadness in my heart.
Sora was chatting happily with her aunt, but I didn't want to stay here for a minute and just wanted to get up and leave.
When my aunt saw me looking at her, she said with a smile on her face: "Xiaoye often mentions you, saying that you are not only beautiful, but also kind-hearted. I have never had the opportunity to invite you to my home. Since you are here today, why don't you stay and have a meal together?"
Have a meal?
I was shocked. With a family like theirs, what kind of meal could they make? I'm afraid they can't even guarantee hygiene. I was about to refuse, but Sola held my hand. He smiled and said to Auntie, "Thank you for the hospitality. I often hear Jingye say that you are a good cook. I really want to taste the delicious food you cook."
"Okay, you guys continue chatting, I'll go cook." Auntie said with a smile, and stood up and walked towards the kitchen.
As soon as the aunt left, I shook her hand away and whispered angrily, "Why are you holding me? If you want to eat, eat by yourself. I'm leaving."
"Feng Jingye was injured because of you, so you are so irresponsible?" Sora retorted to me in a low voice.
"What does eating have to do with being responsible? Their family is so poor, I can just write him a check later, then Feng Jingye's injury will not be in vain. Besides, I haven't blamed him for lying to me!" I said indignantly.
"The reason why Feng Jingye pretends to be a noble in front of you is not to please you, right? Besides, he is not bad to you, so you won't suffer any loss even if he is not a noble. He pretends in front of you because of his vanity. If you really give him a check, he will definitely want to die." Sora looked at me with contempt.
"Then what do you want me to do?" I looked at him irritably.
"Since his mother knows you, you can't hide. You might as well stay for dinner and see what happens next." Sora advised in a low voice.
I wanted to leave but couldn't, feeling upset, and couldn't help complaining, "I hate people who pretend the most."
Sola raised his eyebrows and looked at me, sneering and saying, "You are just pretending. You say one thing in front of people and another behind their backs. And you still have the nerve to criticize others."
What he said made me blush and I really wanted to jump up and tear his mouth apart.
About half an hour later, aunt brought the food to the table.
A plate of hot and sour radish strips, a plate of chicken feet, a plate of green vegetables, and a bowl of egg and corn soup. The food was very simple. But the aunt was smiling and looking at us with great hospitality.
She helped me to pour a bowl of rice and brought it to me, smiling gently, "Eat it quickly, before it gets cold."
I saw that there was a gap on the edge of the bowl she used to serve me rice, and I lost my appetite even more. But when she put the rice in front of me, I was too embarrassed to refuse it, so I had to take the bowl and chopsticks in a sullen manner, saying thank you.
Sola, a foodie, unceremoniously picked up a radish strip and put it in his mouth to chew it. It made a crunching sound and he praised repeatedly, "This must have been pickled by Auntie herself. It tastes really good."
"Yes, yes. I made it a while ago and just took it out today. I wanted you to try it."
I looked at Sora from the side. Was it because he had never eaten radish before or was he trying to curry favor with someone? Was a radish stick worthy of such praise? I was already disgusted just by looking at it, let alone eating it.
"Moli, why aren't you eating? Is it because it doesn't suit your appetite?" Auntie asked hurriedly with concern when she saw that I was slow to eat.
I looked at the fine crow's feet at the corners of her eyes and the deep concern in her eyes. Suddenly, I had an indescribable feeling, as if a gentle finger gently brushed my heart. It felt so soft. In my memory, no woman had ever looked at me with such eyes.
I was distracted for a moment, and quickly picked up some vegetables with my chopsticks and put them into my mouth. They were juicy and refreshing.
I looked at my aunt in surprise. I didn't expect that home-cooked meals could taste better than those in big hotels.
"Are they delicious? These vegetables are grown in the vegetable garden behind the house when I have nothing to do." She looked at me kindly, with earnestness in her eyes.
I nodded and said from the bottom of my heart, "It's delicious."
She listened and smiled gently. At this moment, I seemed to see a simple and beautiful soul blooming in front of me, without comparison or vanity, and a different emotion spread in my heart.
"Try the chicken feet made by auntie." Sora held a chicken foot in his mouth and nudged me with his elbow.
I felt that eating chicken feet would affect my image, but since Sora had said so, I couldn't refuse to eat it, so I had to pick one up with chopsticks and put it into my mouth to chew slowly. Suddenly, a slightly spicy and fragrant taste permeated my mouth. The chicken feet were soaked in chili peppers, and the fishy smell was long gone. After that, it must have gone through many processes before being cooked. The taste was very delicious. I didn't care about my image anymore and concentrated on eating.
Auntie watched us eat and said with a smile: "If you think it tastes good, I will prepare a portion for you to take home."
I was eating chicken feet and couldn't speak. Sora continued, "We'll come often if we have the chance. Auntie, don't bother."
"Anyway, don't be polite. You guys eat first. I'll go see Xiaoye." Auntie nodded with a smile, then got up and left.
I watched her leaving and suddenly lost myself. Although Feng Jingye's family was not well off, he had a mother who loved him and cared about him all the time. That was great. I lived alone in the extremely luxurious Moli Castle, with no one to cook for me and I was alone when I was sick. It was really sad. My eyes paused at the simple home-cooked meal on the table. I had never eaten such a simple meal. It would be great if my parents were also around.
"What are you thinking about?" Sora came closer and asked me deliberately.
I was startled by him and quickly said perfunctorily: "I didn't think anything."
"You envy others for having a warm home while you don't?" His tone was not sympathetic but rather happy.
My heart suddenly sank, and I turned to look at him: "Is this kind of thing ridiculous?"
Sora continued to eat rice and said indifferently, "Yeah, I really shouldn't have discouraged a cold-blooded person like you who occasionally showed a little humanity."
I was particularly upset by his words. I put the bowl and chopsticks on the table, looked at him coldly and said, "You are wrong to be proud. I don't envy others at all. I own the Jasmine Castle, I live a rich life, and I am very happy."
"That's right. Your parents have left you here alone since you were a child. I'm afraid you have lost touch with your family and don't need any feelings at all, right?" When he saw me put down my bowl and chopsticks, a smile appeared on his lips, and he glanced at the ceiling, saying nonchalantly.
My heart was ached by his words. What does this idiot know? Of course I need family affection and love!
"I'm independent and never need anyone to worry about me, so please don't meddle in my business." I said this angrily, feeling sad and bitter in my heart.
"I'm not meddling in your business. I just want to tell you that not everything in this world can be bought with money, such as the maternal love you see now. I'm afraid that even if you sell the Jasmine Castle, you can't buy a heart that truly loves you." Sora also put down his bowl and chopsticks, lay on the sofa with his hands behind his head, and his voice was no longer as casual as before, but rather serious and earnest.
I was shocked by what he said. I was about to say that I had never thought of buying true love, but when I thought of my parents who were far away abroad, I felt an indescribable grievance in my heart. I really didn't know what I should do so that they would come back to me and love me well. Is it really that difficult to love me?
Even though money is not everything, I couldn't show weakness in front of Sora. I immediately held back the tears that were about to burst out of my eyes and said through gritted teeth: "It's not your turn to teach me a lesson!"
"Mom, what did you say? Miss Qian Moli came to our house?"
Sora and I were arguing fiercely when Feng Jingye's scream suddenly came from the room, followed by my aunt's voice of comfort.
My heart skipped a beat. Could it be that Feng Jingye didn’t welcome me to his house? I was wondering when Feng Jingye, wearing only a shirt, rushed out of the bedroom. When he saw me sitting on the sofa, his face turned pale, and he squatted on the ground with his head in his hands, sobbing softly, “It’s over, everything is over!”
His mother was so panicked that she didn't know what to do. I also became nervous and didn't know what to do.
Sola leaned close to my ear and whispered, "Maybe Feng Jingye feels that his family is poor, and he feels embarrassed that you found out about his situation, so you should go and comfort him."
I was stunned for a moment. Before I could figure out how to tell Feng Jingye, Sola pushed me hard. I staggered to Feng Jingye and said with great embarrassment, "Thanks to you for helping me drive away the hooligans today. I am very grateful."
When he heard me talking, he shook his head like a rattle and stammered in annoyance, "I couldn't help you at all. I'm such a failure."
I was afraid that he would be sad, so I quickly added: "Don't be like this. You were beaten by the gangsters because you were trying to help me. I feel guilty now..."
"That's not the case!" Feng Jingye interrupted me before I could finish my words. He looked up at me, his eyes red, and said with shame on his face, "I wasn't knocked unconscious by the gangsters. I was because I was so hungry. I have been saving money desperately. I want to be good to you, but I only have a little living expenses, and my mother is working so hard. I'm really embarrassed..."
I looked at him in shock. Could it be that he had been using his living expenses to buy me gifts, and the 500 yuan he spent on his hair today...it turned out that he had been starving!
"Did you faint from hunger?" The aunt was more excited than me. She interrupted Feng Jingye and looked at him in disbelief with her eyes wide open, with a complex emotion of anger and heartache in her eyes.
Feng Jingye shrank into the corner, lowered his head, his face full of shame, and he didn't even dare to look at his mother's face.
"How can you do this to yourself? How can you do this to your mother? No matter how hard your mother works, she will not let you starve!" The aunt's lips trembled violently, her eyes quickly turned red, and she reached out to hit him, but held back.
I looked at the scene in front of me, and I felt inexplicably sad. I thought about how Feng Jingye was usually nice to me, and now he seemed so pitiful. I grabbed my aunt's hand and said, "Aunt, it's all my fault. I shouldn't have accepted the gift he gave me. I'm so sorry."
When Sora heard me say this, he glanced at me in surprise.
Unexpectedly, Feng Jingye did not calm down after hearing what I said, but became even more intense. He covered his face in shame and anxiety, struggling and saying: "If Miss Moli said that, I would be even more ashamed. Your status is so noble, and I am so humble. I am really ashamed."
I was even more at a loss when I heard him say that, but seeing how vulnerable he was, I felt very uncomfortable. Suddenly I remembered Sora's words, so I repeated, "Although your family is ordinary, you have a mother who loves you. This is such an enviable and respectable thing!"
I originally wanted to use this sentence to comfort him, but I used my emotions too much and it actually touched my own nerves, and I felt sad inside.
Feng Jingye was suddenly stunned. He looked up at me with trembling eyes and said doubtfully, "Do you really think so?"
I nodded immediately, and he was overjoyed as if he had been pardoned, and we all breathed a sigh of relief. However, he suddenly looked at his wrist and saw that there was nothing on it. He nervously pulled his sleeve up halfway, but still nothing. He panicked and stood up and asked in surprise: "Where is my bracelet? Where is my bracelet?"
His mother was startled and asked in panic, "What bracelet?"
"I spent the whole afternoon making a bracelet with Miss Moli's hair, how come I can't find it?" He became more and more panicked and knelt on the ground to search randomly.
It's just a strand of hair, why is he so hysterical?
I was just about to say a few words to comfort him, but Feng Jingye suddenly raised his face, his eyes were messy and uneasy, and he looked ahead aimlessly. He was stunned for a moment and said in surprise: "It must have been lost during the fight before! It's all my fault for being careless, I lost it!"
I frowned and thought, it is not impossible that it was lost during the fight, but so much time has passed, I am afraid that the strand of hair has disappeared long ago.
"Since it's lost, it may be difficult to find it back..." Auntie looked at Feng Jingye with great concern and tried to persuade him.
But before she could finish her words, she was interrupted by Feng Jingye: "No, I must get it back, it is too important to me!" After he said that, he struggled to stand up, staggered on the ground, and ran out of the house.
The aunt was frightened, anxious and panicked. She chased him and said in a crying voice, "Eat something before you go. Or mom can help you find it. Just come back first!" But the aunt was middle-aged after all, and she couldn't catch up with him at all.
"Let's go." Sora bumped into me.
I was stunned for a moment and turned to look at him.
"Do you want him to faint again?" Sora reminded me, and I immediately came to my senses and ran after him.
"You must bring Xiaoye back." Auntie held the door with her arm, and said to us from behind, panting.
Feng Jingye was no longer seen on the street. I was secretly surprised that he hadn't eaten anything yet had so much energy to run outside.
"This place is remote and there are many small paths. How can we catch up with him?" I ran out of breath and backed down.
"Then take a taxi to the place where we met those bad boys. Feng Jingye must be going there." Sora said decisively.
I looked at his profile, and there was a hint of determination in his beautiful and deep eyes. It was so charming that I couldn't help but lose my mind for a while. After a while, I felt ashamed of my wild thoughts and hurriedly covered up my sarcasm and said, "Feng Jingye is not yours, why do you worry so much?"
"I'm afraid that he might suddenly faint on the road. What if he gets into a car accident, or meets a bad guy with bad intentions, who takes out his organs and sells them while he's unconscious? I'll see how you'll explain it to his mother then." He approached me deliberately, looking at me grimly, his voice was also gloomy, "Besides, you often bring bad luck to others, I don't think Feng Jingye can escape it."
I was frightened by what he said, and looked at him doubtfully with my neck shrunk. He ignored me, hailed a taxi, and headed straight for his destination.
I sat in the car, feeling extremely anxious. If Feng Jingye really got into trouble because of me, I would be a real sinner.
It was already completely dark. I rolled down the car window and looked out. From afar, I saw Feng Jingye bending over, using his cell phone to light up his phone, searching the ground for something.
I immediately breathed a sigh of relief, got out of the car quickly, ran to Feng Jingye, and called him anxiously: "Your mother is very worried about you, let's go."
He was startled and turned around to look at me. His face was bluish under the reflection of the light from the phone and his lips were cracked.
"Are you okay?" I asked worriedly when I saw that he looked unusual.
"What should I do? I can't find my bracelet..." He said in a daze, and suddenly burst into tears. I stood beside him, at a loss for words.
The wind suddenly started to blow, getting stronger and stronger. The whistling sound of the wind carried Feng Jingye's wailing, which frightened people and made them feel sad.
My eyes were blinded by the wind and sand, and they felt dry and painful. This place was very remote, and there were no street lights. I felt very scared and didn't want to stay here at all. I immediately reached out to pull Feng Jingye and said, "Your mother is still waiting for you at home, don't be willful."
He was so emotional that he didn't even listen to me and said stubbornly: "I must find the bracelet, otherwise I won't go back."
My eyes hurt and tears welled up in my eyes. Everything in front of me was dark and I couldn't see anything clearly. I was extremely anxious. I heard a "crash" of lightning in my ears. The red electric light tore through the dark clouds in the sky, and I trembled with fear.
"It's going to rain soon, let's go." I rubbed my eyes and turned around to leave.
Sora grabbed me and wouldn't let me go.
I struggled a few times but couldn't get free. There was a rumble of thunder above my head, and raindrops hit my head and face. I felt a chill all over my body. I quickly covered my head with my hands and yelled at Sola, "What are you doing?"
"You really don't care about Feng Jingye?" His tone was strange, as if he was setting a trap for me to fall into.
Although I couldn't see him clearly, I was annoyed by his tone. I immediately turned around and asked Feng Jingye one last question: "What do you want? You didn't help me beat the thugs, but you got me into trouble. Are you going to leave or not?"
Feng Jingye ignored him and continued searching on the ground while crying.
I looked at him, shook off Sora's hand, stepped back a few steps, and said loudly: "You see, it's not that I don't care about him, but he insisted on staying here!" After that, I no longer cared about others and turned and left.
Sora quickly caught up with me and walked beside me.
I really wanted to get away from him, but it was hard to get a taxi on a rainy day, so I had to walk quickly in the rain. Soon, I was soaked from head to toe. I had never suffered such torture before, and I was shivering with cold.
The heavy rain continued to pour down, and my heart was in a mess. I walked faster with my arms folded. Sora beside me walked quietly in the rain, still maintaining a leisurely attitude. I was surprised how he could be so calm and indifferent.
We turned a street, and Sola suddenly raised his head and said in a hollow voice: "Maybe my prediction has come true. There are no street lights on that street, Feng Jingye didn't eat, and it was raining heavily. Feng Jingye might have fainted, and then been run over by a car, and fell in a pool of blood..."
I got goosebumps all over my body because of what he said. I was so nervous that I couldn't hold it in. I shouted, "Stop talking."
"Since you don't want to hear it, I won't say anything." Sola said in a low voice, and suddenly turned his head to look at me, "I don't know how worried Feng Jingye's mother is right now. It's raining so hard, she definitely can't stay at home, but her home is so remote, and she can't get a taxi. It's really pitiful."
I suddenly thought of my aunt's kind and gentle face, and a feeling of guilt rose in my heart. When I thought about her asking us to take Feng Jingye back, I felt even more uncomfortable.
"Poor Feng Jingye, thinking about how he spent all his living expenses on buying someone's hair and even fainted from hunger. But that someone not only didn't appreciate it, he didn't even care about his life or death. I really feel sorry for him." Sora kept chattering in my ear with a lot of emotion, as if he was the protagonist.
We turned onto a main road. Pedestrians on the sidewalk walked hurriedly, and vehicles on the road kept speeding. The rapidly turning cars brought up clouds of mud and disappeared into the endless darkness. With a "boom", thunder sounded in the sky again.
I was so scared that my whole body started shaking and my steps started to stagger.
"Retribution has come." Sora said sarcastically when he saw me twist my foot.
"Don't attribute everything to retribution." I was walking very hard, and he was mocking me, so I immediately retorted in annoyance.
"It seems like the rain won't stop today. I wonder how Feng Jingye is doing. You left in such a hurry and wanted to avoid him so much. It seems like he really liked you in vain." Sora said to himself.
I thought of Feng Jingye's persistent expression as he searched for the bracelet with the dim light of his phone. I suddenly felt sad, and I was afraid that something had really happened to him. I felt mixed emotions, but now I turned back and felt weird. I had to harden my heart: "You make me sound like I'm guilty, but it's not me who made him like me. Besides, I've done everything I should do, so there's nothing to blame myself for."
He looked at me with an ambiguous look. There was no sympathy in his eyes, but a hint of complacency. The rain slid down his handsome face. He slightly opened his lips, his eyes moved, and smiled very gently: "Do you feel guilty?"
"Nonsense!" I denied it immediately as if I had been stabbed.
"Really?" Sora turned to look at the rain curtain in front of him and asked in a low voice.
I was upset and just wanted to go home. Just then, an empty car came towards me. I quickly stopped it and went home.
