Chapter 50 Encounter

Hearing his question, Chi Xia turned around and said, "Captain Luo, you have suspected me for a long time."
It was a straightforward sentence, as if Luo Xun didn't even need to answer.
He stared into Chi Xia's eyes, trying to find her weakness by looking at her, but unfortunately, her look was calm and Luo could not find any trace of guilt.
He said, "It wasn't that early. I just found out that, apart from the prison staff, you were the only outsider Tu Guoan had seen before his death. Chi Xia, don't you think you need to explain this to me?"
"It was indeed me." Chi Xia did not hesitate: "But Captain Luo, regarding Tu Guoan's death, I want to know the reason more than anyone else."
Luo Xun's eyes were full of oppression: "So, you didn't just find out that Tu Guoan was dead ."
"yes."
"How did you know?" Luo Xun asked.
Chi Xia looked at him: "Director Qiao told me."
"Qiao Lifu from the Provincial Public Security Bureau?"
This was a little beyond Luo Xun's expectations, so he immediately asked, "When did you know?"
Chi Xia thought for a moment and said, "It's about two minutes behind you."
Luo Xun was silent for a moment: "What is your relationship?"
Chi Xia pursed her lips and said, "I'm sorry, Captain Luo, this is my personal matter. Besides, there is a document on my desk that may be of some help to your investigation into Tu Guoan's death."
Luo Xun didn't say anything else. The two of them just stood at the door and the other stood inside, confronting each other. In the end, neither of them got anything out of it.
Seeing that he had no intention of asking further, Chi Xia secretly breathed a sigh of relief and forced a smile: "Goodbye, Captain Luo."
After she left, Luo Xun withdrew his cold gaze and turned to walk towards Chi Xia's desk.
She prepared the information deliberately.
Luo Xun picked it up and found that it was the relevant information about the family massacre case in which Tu Guoan was involved. He had seen this before.
What caught his attention was another record of the conversation.
It was the record of Chi Xia's conversation with Tu Guoan in the reception room about the family-massacre case. Chi Xia highlighted the motive for the crime and the relevant content about the kitten carving with a colored pen.
Luo Xun's expression gradually became serious. He picked up the two pieces of information and compared them again. He couldn't help but be secretly shocked.
Although the evidence is conclusive and Tu Guoan was convicted according to the law, everything seems to be logical and there is no injustice against him. But if his motive for murder is indeed as Chi Xia said, then why didn't he deny the murder at the beginning, but wanted to cover up his motive?
Chi Xia also mentioned the kitten carving in his records. However, in the materials related to the case, the little thing was not considered as key evidence by the criminal police who were handling the case at the time.
Luo Xun read the conversation record several times again, his eyes resting on the last line of the record.
The record ends with Tu Guoan’s last words.
"You're talking nonsense! Boss, I want to go back to prison. I want to go back to prison."
The conversation ended here.
Luo Xun's gaze rested on that line of words for a long time. He had a feeling that this sentence must not be the end of the conversation between Chi Xia and Tu Guoan.
The conversation after this might be the real purpose of Chi Xia's trip!
Thinking of this, Luo Xun immediately called Xiao Fang.
"Please help me check the surveillance video of Chi Xia's conversation with Tu Guoan. I want to see it, the sooner the better."
Xiao Fang agreed, but then said, "Okay, I'll give it to you right away. But the provincial department asked us to send the video of the interview as soon as possible, and the hard drive was not returned until the third day."
Luo Xun's face darkened: "All the people who were talking?"
"Yes." Xiao Fang said, "It's urgent. I just took the original hard drive."
Luo Xun narrowed his eyes and paused: "Okay, give it to me as soon as possible."
After hanging up the phone, Luo Xun became even more certain that something was fishy.
Provincial Department, Qiao Life, Chi Xia, monitoring.
These few words added up to the message Chi Xia wanted to tell him: I have someone above me, so don’t try to mess with me.
Humph, Luo Xun snorted coldly, slammed the table, and gritted his teeth.
Chi Xia, you are so cruel. I don’t believe that I can’t catch this little tail of yours!
While Luo Xun was trying every means to catch Chi Xia's tail, Chi Xia was walking back slowly.
It is her habit to think while walking.
A burst of urgent horn sounds from across the street interrupted her thoughts. She turned her head and saw that it was an old man who was walking slowly and did not have time to cross the road before the red light. At this time, two young people were already supporting him and the traffic had also made way for him.
She came to her senses and continued walking forward. Suddenly, she remembered the friend request Qu Bai sent her when she was in school. Only then did she take out her mobile phone and clicked to agree.
As soon as the application was approved , Chi Xia looked up and saw a familiar figure.
Qu Bai was only fifty steps away from Chi Xia. He was talking to two people, a man and a woman. The woman was pregnant and had a gentle look in her eyes. It seemed that she and the other man were married.
Their chat had come to an end, and the three of them hugged each other goodbye. The man helped the woman cross the street, and the three of them waved to each other across the street.
Qu Bai turned around and saw Chi Xia.
Surprise flashed in his eyes, and he quickly ran forward a few steps: "Chi Xia, what a coincidence! Did you just get off work?"
Chi Xia shook the phone in his hand at him: "Yes, and I just approved your friend request."
She didn't notice that Qu Bai's eyes froze at that moment.
Soon, Qu Bai walked up to her side: "Really? I know you are busy, there is no rush."
Chi Xia smiled and put the phone into her pocket. She saw that he was holding a porcelain white thermos in his hand, which looked very nice.
She pointed: "You going to the bar?"
"Get ready to go home."
Qu Bai raised the thermos and said, "Uncle Gen made some sleeping soup and asked me to get it. I just happened to run into a couple of friends and chatted with them. I didn't expect to run into you again."
He smiled, showing his handsomeness: "Tonight is a really good day."
Chi Xia smiled: "To be honest, this sleeping soup is really good. I slept very well last night."
"Really?" Qu Bai's eyes lit up and he stuffed the thermos into her hands: "Then drink it and try to sleep well tonight."
Chi Xia didn't know whether to laugh or cry: "Uncle Gen gave it to you, what's the matter with me taking it?"
Qu Bai smiled gently: "Why can't I take it? Uncle Gen will be happy if someone drinks it. Besides, this thermos was newly bought by Uncle Gen's wife. It's just right for girls."
Seeing his serious expression, Chi Xia couldn't refuse. In fact, the main reason was that she had been tortured by nightmares almost every day for the past five years, and yesterday was a rare good sleep for her.
The attraction is quite big.
She held up the thermos flask sheepishly and said, "I'll bring this to you at the bar later, and ask Uncle Gen for advice on how to make this soup."
"Then you will be disappointed." Qu Bai smiled and said, "This is Uncle Gen's secret recipe. I have tried to learn it many times but he would not let me learn it."
Seeing that she was a little curious, Qu Bai continued to explain: "Uncle Gen's ancestor was an imperial chef, and he also had some knowledge of Chinese medicine, so he was very good at making medicinal food. So this soup was passed down from his ancestors, and it was not passed on to anyone except the direct descendants."
"What a pity." He sighed: "Uncle Gen's son has been missing for many years."
The dim street lights shone on Qu Bai's face. He was wearing a pair of glasses today and his white shirt looked a little lazy. Chi Xia felt that he looked like a young professor who had walked out of TV.
He is gentle, friendly, elegant and a talkative gentleman.
"How about we go for a walk?" Qu Bai noticed the scrutiny in her eyes and suddenly looked at her: "I'll take you home by the way."
Chi Xia smiled embarrassedly: "I... am not used to being sent away..."
Qu Bai was stunned for a moment, then he laughed again: "Is this the truth? You are not saying this just to reject me, right?"
His smile was frank and pure, which made Chi Xia feel very comfortable.
She also laughed: "I'm just not used to it, not rejecting it."
Qu Bai deliberately looked regretful and said, "From now on, I will send you sleeping soup every day. You can come to the bar to get it. If it is inconvenient, tell me and I will find someone to send it to you."
Chi Xia was about to refuse, but then he heard him say, "But let's make a deal. It's not easy for Uncle Gen to do this. You have to give me some reward. Do you think so too?"
Chi Xia burst out laughing and nodded: "That's what I mean, deal!"
"Then I'll go back and ask you how much this sleeping soup passed down from our ancestors costs."
Qu Bai smiled, and Chi Xia discovered that he had a shallow dimple when he smiled.
She liked dealing with people who wouldn't make her feel awkward, as long as they weren't hostile to each other, of course.
"Okay, it's getting late, let's go home."
Qu Bai stopped smiling. When he wasn't smiling, his eyes were still gentle: "Remember to drink it while it's hot."
Chi Xia nodded, picked up the thermos and shook it: "Thank you."
Qu Bai waved his hand: "Go home."
Chi Xia turned around and walked back.
Qu Bai looked at her back, and deep sadness suddenly welled up in his gentle eyes. He suddenly called out again: "Chi Xia!"
Chi Xia turned around and looked at him: "What's wrong?"
He ran up again and took out a candy from his pocket: "Lychee candy, Uncle Gen gave it to me. I saw you liked it when we were in the hospital last time."
Chi Xia remembered that Qu Bai said he didn't eat sweet things.
It’s not that I don’t like it, but I don’t eat it.
"Here you go."
Qu Bai put the candy in her hand. The green light on the opposite side came on, and he ran across the street in a blink of an eye.
