Chapter 5: Unspeakable Sincerity to Keep You 3
The osmanthus tree outside the window has passed its blooming period and only has dark green leaves left, completely losing its blooming charm. I racked my brains but couldn't figure out why such an ordinary osmanthus tree was worth staring at for a whole morning.
Hongze has been staring at me with his neck twisted for the whole morning. He doesn't respond when I call him, let alone leave his seat. After a month, I don't know whether to say he has adapted to school life or that he is tired of school life. This morning he actually tried to bring Xiao Koi and Xiao Li to school, and I had to work hard to stop him.
"Oh...are they having a quarrel?" I murmured to myself.
Li Zimei came over and asked me curiously, "Lingmiao, why are you sighing all the time today? Are you upset with someone?"
"Well..." I hesitated when asked by Li Zimei, "If you want to take your pet out, but your mother doesn't let you, will you be angry?"
Li Zimei thought for a moment and answered seriously, "As for taking Diandian out, it depends on where you're going. If you take her to a friend's house and my mom doesn't agree, I'll definitely be angry. But if you take her to a formal occasion like a banquet, I won't be in a position to be angry. Just think about it and you'll know that I'm being willful."
"Right! That's right. Even if you take her out, you have to consider the occasion!" I grabbed Li Zimei's hand excitedly, as if I had finally found a soulmate. "If you are being willful, you have no right to get angry or upset."
School is a place for studying, how can you bring pets here? Besides, the little koi and carp are not the type of pets that can be taken out. How could Hongze not understand this? He was actually making a fuss.
"You want to take Linglong out, but Zhou Mian disagrees?" Li Zimei was caught by me and said suspiciously, "No, you said I can't be angry. Zhou Mian wants to take Linglong out, but that's not right. You should agree with it."
When I first heard Zhou Mian's name, I was stunned, but soon I understood. Li Zimei knew my situation, and she could only think of Zhou Mian when I compared her to a family member.
As soon as I thought of this, I was shocked by myself. I was clearly talking about Hongze and me, how could it be... I didn't dare to think too much, so I waved my hands in panic and pretended to be nonchalant and said, "Forget it, it's not a big deal."
"Hey, someone is looking for you. I'll take you there."
I turned around and saw Hongze standing behind me. He hadn't left his seat all along, but suddenly he said someone was looking for me. I looked at him warily, wondering if he was talking to me because he was no longer angry, or if he was plotting something to get me.
Seeing that I was sitting still, Hongze walked straight out the door , turned back and said impatiently: "Let's go."
"You!" I yelled, and had no choice but to follow him out. Was this guy deliberately using the restrictions of the Soul Binding Cage to restrain me?
As he was about to leave the teaching building, Hongze showed no intention of stopping. Was he going to the river again? It had been a month since he last went to the river to ask for help, and no strange people had come to him during that time. If it were me, I would have gotten a little impatient waiting.
Thinking of this, I became a little anxious: "Where are you going? Class is about to start."
"Low roof." Hongze was very calm. Although there was no ups and downs in his tone, I could still hear a hint of nervousness.
What was he so nervous about? I had never seen Hongze like this before, and I couldn't help but get nervous too, wondering what incredible scene I would see on the low roof.
I passed the guardrail and saw a man standing on the roof of a low house. He had his back to me and his short hair was dyed a bold orange. It was already autumn, but he was still wearing a sleeveless denim vest, black tight leather pants with a variety of decorative chains, and a pair of short boots covered with rivets.
I secretly wondered who this person dressed like a fashion star was. This person didn't look like Hongze's friend, did he? Could he be an enemy?
I looked up at Hongze, and sure enough, he was frowning and pursing his lips. When he noticed that I was looking at him, he reached out and pulled me behind him.
"Huh? You're here?" The man suddenly turned his head and spoke in a clean and ethereal voice.
I stared in amazement as he leaned sideways, bent his legs like a crab, and moved towards us with awkward gaits.
Hongze said disdainfully: "Tsk, even after transforming, it still looks like a crab."
The man finally walked in front of us. He had a cute baby face under his short orange hair. He said nervously, "Huh? That's me. Hongze, are you stupid? It's me, I'm Jiheng!"
"You're the stupid one!" Hongze rolled his eyes, broke free from Jiheng's hand that was holding his arm, and walked to the center of the low roof. "Where's the stuff?"
"I'm so sad. Hongze, I haven't seen you for such a long time, don't you miss me? You didn't even chat with me, but came here to ask for things. I didn't bring any!" Jiheng put his hands on his hips in dissatisfaction, his baby face became puffed up, and he said unhappily.
Things? I was suddenly curious. These two people seemed to be good friends. So what did Hongze ask him for? What did he want to do?
I was lost in my own thoughts when suddenly a huge baby face appeared in front of me. Jiheng came up to me and looked at me curiously.
"Who are you?"
"My name is Fu Lingmiao," I answered, and after thinking for a moment, I added, "I am now the master of the Soul Binding Cage."
"What?" Ji Heng's face changed drastically when he heard it. He turned around and squatted on the ground, muttering, "I thought the new owner of the Soul Binding Cage must be a person with great magical powers. If not a fairy, then at least an ancient divine beast. But she is a human without any magical powers. Is she a fairy who has experienced tribulations? No, no, I can't even sense any divine consciousness. What's going on? Why did the Soul Binding Cage choose such a weak, lazy, and useless person as its owner?"
I awkwardly tried to keep smiling, thinking to myself, he is indeed Hongze's friend.
