Chapter 5: The two lovers stay together and return home
"Can you promise me?" Yin Yin's voice was a little choked when she spoke again. Her tone sounded like pleading and imploring, while also revealing a hint of fatigue.
Zhao Ziheng didn't even think about it and blurted out: "I promise you."
After getting this answer, Yin Yin smiled with relief, as innocent as a child.
Zhao Ziheng gently held Yinyin's hand that was caressing his face in his own. The coldness in his hand made his heart ache. He took Yinyin's hand and put it to his lips, kissed it gently, and asked softly: "Are you still cold?"
Yinyin shook her head, but she got closer to Zhao Ziheng's arms. What was different from before was that she could feel the different touch of Zhao Ziheng's chest through his clothes. She raised her other hand and stroked his chest. She slowly raised her head and looked at Zhao Ziheng, with deep sadness and a layer of moisture in her eyes...
"It's okay now, don't worry." Zhao Ziheng gently comforted Yin Yin with a smile on his face.
Yin Yin stared at Zhao Ziheng for a long while, then stood up resolutely after a moment, took out her hands that Zhao Ziheng was holding and placed them on his lapels, but she didn't know whether she should open them to look. When she was hesitating, a warm big hand covered her hands. When she looked up, she met Zhao Ziheng's gentle eyes with an imperceptible rejection in them.
Perhaps sensing the subtle rejection in Zhao Ziheng's eyes, Yinyin's expression became even more sorrowful. This expression completely defeated Zhao Ziheng's rationality. He gently removed Yinyin's hand from his collar, then raised himself and took off his clothes...
Until the chest wrapped in gauze was revealed, the moisture in her eyes finally turned into crystal liquid and finally stopped. Tears silently slid down her face. She raised her trembling hands and wanted to touch the chest that was soaked in bright red gauze, but she was afraid that it would hurt him, so she stopped above the wound and dared not move anymore.
He took Yin Yin's hands that were resting on his chest, held them to his lips and kissed them gently. Even Zhao Ziheng himself didn't know how many times he had kissed Yin Yin like this since they met again. Every kiss was so cautious and gentle, as if it was completely unconscious yet very natural.
"Believe me, it doesn't matter anymore, really." Zhao Ziheng held Yin Yin's hands tightly, his tone very firm, because for him, now that he could hold his lover in his arms, everything else would become meaningless. Having Yin Yin was like having the whole world, even if the fire of life burned out at this moment.
For Yin Yin, the scars on her lover's body hurt her more than her own pain, especially since most of those scars were caused by her.
Finding that his words were unable to comfort his lover, Zhao Ziheng loosened his grip on Yin Yin's hands and instead gently held her face, kissing her eyelashes lightly, and kissing all the way down along the tear marks until Yin Yin's tears were kissed dry.
Zhao Ziheng said softly, pulling the distance between them slightly: "Believe me, I will never leave you again until the end of my life, never."
Zhao Ziheng's words were like a lullaby. Yin Yin slowly lost her strength and fell into his arms, gradually closing her eyes...
In the wooden house, Zhao Ziheng sat beside the bed, gently brushing his eyes across Yin Yin's face as she slept, as if no matter how much he looked at her or how much he touched her, it was never enough.
"There is something I want to tell you." Wang Ye, who had hesitated for a long time, finally spoke.
"Yeah." Zhao Ziheng responded, his eyes still on Yin Yin, as if he didn't care at all about what .
With a long sigh, Wang Ye said: "It's Miss Wang's business. I think it's necessary to tell you everything I know."
"Wang Ye."
Wang Ye was just about to continue speaking when Zhao Ziheng interrupted him. Wang Ye was puzzled, and Zhao Ziheng turned around and looked at him.
"You don't have to be so serious. From the moment she appeared in front of me, I knew I could never leave her again, and I promised her that I would never leave. Even though our time together was very short, I wanted to give her everything she wanted in the end. You could say it's for my own sake, so I don't mind dying now."
From Zhao Ziheng's words, Wang Ye knew that he had become more open-minded and would no longer behave rashly, but at the same time he also felt a little sad, because even if Zhao Ziheng had become more open-minded, it did not mean that God would treat them well. Even if everyone would die one day, why torture them like this and not give them more time to spend together?
"What if she was the first one to die?" Wang Ye suddenly blurted out. There was no emotion in his tone, which seemed a bit cruel.
Sure enough, Zhao Ziheng's whole body was stunned, which did not escape Wang Ye's eyes. Zhao Ziheng turned around and looked at Yin Yin again. Wang Ye felt that he seemed too cruel; however, what Wang Ye did not expect was Zhao Ziheng's attitude. Except for the slight shock at the beginning, his reaction was surprisingly calm, which made Wang Ye a little confused.
"Even so, God still treats us well, doesn't he?" Zhao Ziheng suddenly said with a smile, his tone very gentle.
Wang Ye was stunned and looked at Zhao Ziheng in a daze. He didn't understand the meaning of his words. At least in his opinion, God was cruel to them.
"Isn't this perfect? Even if it is true as you said , if she leaves me first, I will catch up with her soon, because I promised her, so from now on, even if I die, I will never leave her again. So God is fair to us and will not make anyone wait too long. Besides, death is not scary. At least then we will never suffer from separation again." Zhao Ziheng's tone was as if he was stating something as a matter of course. There was no resentment in his tone, only a touch of tenderness.
At this point, what else can Wang Ye say? He can only say that maybe Zhao Ziheng was right to choose to leave before, because this is how he came to his current realization. All he can do is pray, pray that the time between the two of them can last a little longer.
"Also, being able to fulfill the promise I made to myself before I die is not great, but I believe that with you all here, that day will come sooner or later. Now all I can do is stay by her side and use the last bit of my time to make it up to her, even if it's just a minute or a second longer. From now on, I will only live for her. This is what I owe her, and I also owe it to myself."
If Wang Ye didn't know too much about this relationship, he would never think that one person could love another so deeply. Even he himself could never reach the level of Zhao Ziheng. Is it because everyone has a different attitude towards feelings?
