Chapter 5: The Dream Shatters Like the Deep Sea 02
This night was probably the best sleep I had since my dad left . I had no dreams. Just because I was staying at someone else's house, I got up before 7 o'clock the next morning. I thought their family wouldn't get up so early, but as soon as I left the room, I saw a few people sitting in the restaurant on the first floor. There was Ning's mother whom I met last time, and a middle-aged man whom I had never seen before. He should be Ning Qiyuan's stepfather, Uncle Dong.
"Sister Shuchen, you're up. Did you sleep well?" Shuai Xiao, who was eating breakfast, greeted me first, and attracted several people at the table to look at me.
Ning Qiyuan also looked up at me and said, "Come here."
I had no choice but to go over there.
I greeted Mother Ning and Uncle Dong before I sat down. After I sat down, I felt very uncomfortable, and my palms were sweating. Under the table, Ning Qiyuan quietly held my hand and gave me a reassuring look.
Maybe Ning Qiyuan had said something to Ning's mother and Uncle Dong. Ning's mother and Uncle Dong didn't say much to me. Only Shuai Xiao kept pestering me to talk, and even asked me blatantly if I should call me sister-in-law from now on.
I was so embarrassed that I could only throw the question to Ning Qiyuan: "Ask your brother."
Shuai Xiao really changed the person he questioned, but Ning Qiyuan's words that he would not be allowed to play games if he asked again made him shut up.
After breakfast, Uncle Dong took me back to school because he was on the way, and Ning Qiyuan also went with him. Including the driver, there were a total of 4 people in the car.
Soon after I got on the bus, Uncle Dong asked me some questions about my studies, and I answered them one by one. After hearing that I was studying at the Judicial College, he praised me a few words, and his attitude was so kind that I gradually felt less restrained.
After asking me, Uncle Dong suddenly asked Ning Qiyuan, "It seems that your leave is about to end. When will you return to your school abroad?"
I was startled and immediately looked at Ning Qiyuan. I had always ignored the fact that he was studying abroad. Thinking of this, I clenched my hands again.
I have to admit, I was afraid he would leave.
It’s not that I’m afraid that he will never come back after leaving, but I’m afraid that I won’t see him for a long time.
As if he knew what I was thinking, Ning Qiyuan turned his head to look at me and said, "I have decided to return to China to study. I will go back to school in a few days to handle the formalities."
"Okay, it's your decision, I won't interfere with you." Uncle Dong laughed and said, "It's good that you come back, so your mother won't have to worry about you all the time." After saying that, he looked at me meaningfully.
I vaguely understood what Uncle Dong meant, and lowered my head with a red face.
Soon, we arrived at the school.
I got off the car and thanked Uncle Dong. Thinking that I would have no classes in the afternoon, before leaving, I made an appointment with Ning Qiyuan to go to the hospital to see Lin Zhan.
"I'll pick you up at noon." Ning Qiyuan said.
I thought about it and decided that I should probably ask Jiang Sijin to come along when I went to see Lin Zhan, so I nodded and agreed.
But I didn't expect that Jiang Sijin was not interested in Lin Zhan's accident and hospitalization, but was more interested in Ning Qiyuan and I being together. She clamored to have a big meal at noon and make Ning Qiyuan bleed to the point of stomach pain. I didn't have the courage to tell her that Ning Qiyuan was richer than us now.
It was almost 12 o'clock in the afternoon and the morning classes were over. Ning Qiyuan had been waiting for me at the school gate. He didn't let me put my books back to the dormitory and took me to the car to pick up Jiang Sijin from school.
As soon as we arrived at the restaurant, Jiang Sijin was really not polite. As soon as Ning Qiyuan and I sat down, she said to the waiter: "Bring up your most expensive signature dishes." As she said that, she looked at Ning Qiyuan very arrogantly.
"The host should follow the guest's wishes." Ning Qiyuan said calmly, and asked me if I wanted to order something else.
I shook my head and refused. I knew Jiang Sijin was a man of her word and would order a lot. I was just afraid we might not be able to finish it.
"You're starting to save money for him so soon?" Jiang Sijin raised her eyebrows and looked at me with some contempt, "You're too servile!"
I picked up the spare hand towel on the table and threw it at her.
Jiang Sijin dodged, but laughed even more triumphantly. But at this moment, another towel flew towards her and hit her face squarely.
The towel was thrown by Ning Qiyuan.
I laughed immediately. In the past, Ning Qiyuan and Jiang Sijin had quarreled a lot, but Jiang Sijin was always the one who suffered. At this moment, I felt as if we had returned to the past. Ning Qiyuan had never left, and we were still as innocent and beautiful as when we were young.
I don’t know if it was because Ning Qiyuan made her angry, but Jiang Sijin’s appetite wasn’t very good today. She didn’t eat many bites of the dishes she ordered, which was very unlike her usual self.
I asked her, but she said with a look of regret: "Maybe she's not hungry and doesn't want to eat much. It's such a waste of delicious food..."
"Indeed, you won't have a next chance." Ning Qiyuan was not polite and called the waiter to settle the bill, which also earned him another roll of the eyes from Jiang Sijin.
I was worried that they would have a fight, so I urged them to go to the hospital.
But I didn't expect that Jiang Sijin, who was always in good health, got carsick. She started vomiting halfway through the ride. When she arrived at the hospital, she seemed to be exhausted and her face was pale. This made me worried.
"Alas, I probably can't eat Ning Qiyuan's food. I vomited like this after eating just a little..." Jiang Sijin was helped by me to get out of the car. She didn't forget to scold Ning Qiyuan, "You and I are really incompatible..." As she spoke, she was about to vomit again. I could only help her to the side. When I turned back to look for Ning Qiyuan, he came back with the registration form.
"Instead of talking nonsense, you might as well go see a doctor." As he said that, Ning Qiyuan stuffed the list into Jiang Sijin's arms, and then took us to the gastroenterology department.
While Jiang Sijin was undergoing the examination, Ning Qiyuan and I were waiting outside. I was afraid that he would be bored waiting, so I told him to go see Lin Zhan first and not to worry about us.
"Do you want me to leave you here alone?" Ning Qiyuan glanced at me, seeming a little unhappy.
"You can stay here..." I answered woodenly.
Ning Qiyuan suddenly stretched out his hands and pinched my face, and fiercely approached me, gritted his teeth and said: "Are you so unwilling to stay with me longer?"
Even though he and I have a special relationship now, he didn't hold back much and I was pinched by him and it hurt a lot, but I'm not the kind of person who would beg for mercy easily, and I was ready to retaliate in his own way. But at this moment, Jiang Sijin, who was checking inside, opened the door and came out.
Ning Qiyuan and I immediately retracted our hands and blushed in embarrassment.
Jiang Sijin came out, looking a little depressed. She looked at Ning Qiyuan, then whispered in my ear, "The doctor said I didn't have a stomachache, and asked me to go to the gynecology department for a checkup."
I was stunned, thinking about Jiang Sijin's poor appetite today, and suddenly I had a premonition. I hurriedly told Ning Qiyuan that I would accompany Jiang Sijin to the check-up, but it was not convenient for him to go with me.
Ning Qiyuan probably understood something, nodded, and agreed to go see Lin Zhan first.
I accompanied Jiang Sijin to the gynecology department, and after several more tests, I finally got the results, which were exactly what I thought -
Jiang Sijin is pregnant.
The moment she knew the result, Jiang Sijin was a little stunned, and then she was indescribably excited. She put her big hand on my shoulder and said, "You will be my baby's godmother in the future. Congratulations, Tong Shuchen!"
"Do you want to keep this child?" I asked her in surprise . Although it is not uncommon for college students to get married and have children, I just think it seems a little too fast.
"Yeah!" Jiang Sijin nodded in a good mood, and then told me, "Don't tell An Ran yet, I want to tell him in person, got it?"
I immediately nodded and agreed to her, but I had a bad feeling in my heart, but in the end I didn't dare to tell Jiang Sijin.
Afterwards, I took Jiang Sijin to see Lin Zhan. Lin Zhan had woken up and looked much more energetic. When he saw Jiang Sijin, his eyes lit up. Jiang Sijin asked him how he was, and he kept saying that he was fine and asked Jiang Sijin not to worry.
I looked at Lin Zhan and couldn't help but sigh.
This stubborn child, even though he was heartbroken by Jiang Sijin's rejection and got drunk and beaten and went to the hospital, he still liked her. But I also know that once you like someone, it is impossible to give up easily. If you can freely control your heart, then it is not love .
