Chapter 5: Sadness Hidden in the Dark Eternal Night 05
After my part-time job ended, the sky had completely fallen into darkness. After a quick dinner at the cake shop, I took my schoolbag and took the last bus back to Ju Chenxi's home.
However, when I got home, I found that the lights in the house were off!
Could it be that Ju Chenxi hasn’t returned home yet?
After I took out the key and opened the door, I immediately turned on the lights in all the rooms and found that Ju Chenxi had not returned home yet. In the empty room, I was the only one who was lonely and desolate, which made me feel a little sad.
The library should be closed at this time!
Could it be that Ju Chenxi went on a date with Han Shengya?
I shook my head, trying not to let myself fall into this imaginary sadness easily. After resting for half a minute, I turned off the lights in the empty room, took a bath towel, and walked straight into the bathroom.
The hot steam covered the entire bathroom, making it look like a fairyland. "Huh..." I exhaled deeply into the glass, and all the steam instantly gathered in the exhaled area, like a white mist.
I stretched out my finger and wrote Ju Chenxi's name on the glass stroke by stroke.
But he is someone else's boyfriend now. Forget about it, Yan Zhile! I wiped off the words I just wrote with my hand, and told myself dejectedly, forget him! Since he is so happy with Han Shengya, I should wish him well! After taking a shower, when the mist dissipated a little, I finally made up my mind and made this important decision.
but--
"Oh! Oops!" After I wiped it dry, I discovered a serious problem!
I only brought a bath towel!
I was so lost in my thoughts about Ju Chenxi and Han Shengya that I forgot to bring my pajamas. This is terrible. I can only wrap myself in a bath towel!
After struggling for two minutes, I decided to give it a go. Ju Chenxi hadn't come home yet and Aunt Liu had gone out. The curtains in the living room and the room should be drawn, so I should be able to rush to the room and get dressed smoothly.
Thinking of this, I quietly opened the door, poked my head out through the crack, and after making sure there was no one there, I began the next step of my bold "exploration."
"Ah..." Just as I was about to leave the bathroom, I was startled by Ju Chenxi who appeared in front of me in an instant like a magic trick.
I was so timid that I almost fell flat on my face out of fright.
"You, you, you, are you a human or a ghost?" I asked in horror while hiding behind the door.
"What do you think?" It was definitely Ju Chenxi's voice.
"Then, why don't you turn on the light?" I really regretted turning off the outside light before entering the bathroom.
"I didn't have time to turn on the light." Ju Chenxi replied slowly.
"You!" Because Ju Chenxi acted like he was in the right, I was so angry that I rushed out from behind the door, put my hands on my hips, and planned to confront him, but unexpectedly...
"Ahem, you...that..." His eyes dodged a little and then he pointed his finger at my chest, signaling me to divert my attention away from him.
When I realized that I was standing half-naked in front of Ju Chenxi wrapped in a bath towel, I screamed "Oh my God!" and hid behind the door again, but my face was burning like boiling water.
"Don't peek." I yelled at Ju Chenxi with a red face.
"Did I? It seemed like you took the initiative to let me see it." His words sounded very annoying, but this has been going on for a long time.
"Ju Chenxi! Can you speak properly?" I bit my lower lip and stared at Ju Chenxi.
"Okay, okay, put on your clothes and talk properly."
When I saw Ju Chenxi secretly take out my pajamas from behind and hand it to me, I was so shocked that I couldn't speak. I stared at him straight in the eyes, almost seeing through him.
"Take it and put it on, idiot!" Although Ju Chenxi spoke in an imperative tone, his voice revealed concern and unnaturalness, as if an inexplicable emotion was spreading in the air.
When he realized that his words were a little different from usual, a blush quickly appeared on his handsome face.
I tried my best to play the role of an obedient "girlfriend" in this delicate situation, and shyly took the pajamas from his hands. All the questions I should have had, such as how did my clothes appear in your hands, how did you appear at this time, etc., were thrown behind my mind at this moment.
By the time I had finished tidying myself up, Ju Chenxi had already sat on the balcony, with two cups of steaming coffee in his hands. The aroma of coffee overflowed, filling the entire living room with this wonderful smell.
He leaned back in his recliner, looking thoughtfully at the dark night sky.
"How come my clothes are in your hands?" I broke the silence of the night sky and asked the question that I wanted to ask in the bathroom just now.
"The door is open so wide, the person is in the bathroom, and the pajamas are on the bed. Anyone can make the connection!" Hearing the noise behind him, Ju Chenxi slowly turned around with a dazed look in his eyes.
"Oh, um, thank you." The embarrassment with a red face not long ago has slowly disappeared under the slightly cool open-air balcony.
"Let's sit down and have a cup of coffee together." Ju Chenxi picked up the coffee on the table and pointed to another cup of coffee on the coffee table.
Did the sun rise from the west? Ju Chenxi actually invited me to have coffee! However, I was still a little happy in my heart.
"Oh, okay!" I walked to the balcony and sat down on the lounge chair next to him.
The breeze was swaying gently, and there were only a few scattered stars in the lonely night sky, but because of the warm coffee in my hand, my heart seemed to be illuminated by countless shining stars.
"Has the news that I'm dating Han Shengya spread like wildfire in school?" Ju Chenxi took a sip of coffee and started chatting with me casually.
However, his casual question still made my heart tremble: "So are you really dating?" I asked impatiently.
However, Ju Chenxi still did not answer my question directly.
"Alas, she is so different from what I remember." Ju Chenxi lay on the recliner with his right wrist clamped on his forehead and confided in me for the first time.
"The way I remember? Did you know each other before?" I got the point from his words. Just as I was about to follow up on this topic, Ju Chenxi seemed to feel that he had accidentally "exposed" something, so he cleverly changed the subject.
"We weren't very casual with each other. I don't know if it was because it was the first time I got along with someone, but a lot of things felt wrong. I can't describe the feeling, but I wasn't very happy." He spoke a series of words to himself, and it seemed that he had forgotten that there was someone beside him, and was completely lost in his own thoughts.
This was the first time that Ju Chenxi analyzed his inner world so frankly in front of me. From his words, I also knew that the feelings that I had buried deep in my heart had been completely shattered.
Although he didn't admit it explicitly, his words made it clear that he was dating Han Shengya. He felt as if his heart had been stabbed, and the pain slowly welled up.
But at this moment, I was trying my best to hide my heartache and try not to show any sadness in front of Ju Chenxi.
"Maybe it's because we've just gotten to know each other! There's always a period of adjustment when people get along with each other. Once the period is over, you probably won't have this feeling anymore." I said the words to comfort him with difficulty.
"Let's not talk about this anymore. You won't understand anyway." Ju Chenxi's style of painting changed quite quickly. It seemed that he had a good self-healing ability.
"Tsk, I don't want to understand." I pretended not to care and took a sip of the coffee.
"By the way, I accidentally saw your diary just now." Ju Chenxi's casual words almost made me spit out the coffee I had just drunk.
"What! Ju Chenxi, why are you peeking at my diary!" I couldn't suppress my sensitive nerves and shouted loudly.
"With such a big diary spread out on the table, it's hard for me not to read it." Ju Chenxi said as if nothing had happened.
"Hmph! Damn it." I felt uneasy, wondering how much Ju Chenxi had read and whether he had seen the part where I mentioned him.
"You must have felt very sad when your parents divorced," Ju Chenxi suddenly looked at me affectionately and asked.
This sudden question made me stunned for a moment.
"Well, I cried my heart out at that time." Thinking back to that dark day, I still feel the sadness welling up.
"It's okay, it's all over." Ju Chenxi comforted me softly, which made me feel warm even though tears were about to burst out.
"Thank you, Ju Chenxi."
We talked a lot that night.
The sadness gradually dissipated under his comfort, and Ju Chenxi would share his feelings and insights with me from time to time. The more we talked about those childhood memories, the more we felt that we had a lot in common.
It was not until late at night that we said goodbye to each other and returned to our respective rooms to sleep.
