Chapter 49 Unspoken
Chapter 49 Unspoken
Meng Xinqiao’s expression was shocked at first, then changed, and finally returned to pale silence.
Nothing more needs to be said.
Shen Boyan understood everything.
Although he had imagined this moment, when it actually happened, Shen Boyan's throat was sore and he couldn't say anything.
He could only look at Meng Xinqiao like this.
How will you be here? he wanted to ask.
Why are you like this?
What exactly have you been through?
"Xiaoyan!" Cheng Wenjun's voice suddenly came out very inappropriately.
Shen Boyan suddenly returned to reality. He looked at Meng Xinqiao, who was still standing there, and then looked at the bathroom nearby, grabbed him and got in.
They hide in a cubicle.
"Xiaoyan! Are you there?" Cheng Wenjun's voice was loud outside, "Xiaoyan, Xiaoyan?"
Shen Boyan closed his mouth without any intention of responding.
Meng Xinqiao stood behind him. In the small compartment, Shen Boyan's back was very close to Meng Xinqiao's chest, but Meng Xinqiao did not touch him.
Shen Boyan let go of his hand, so they seemed to be distinct from each other, but no one was touching each other.
Cheng Wenjun's call gradually faded away and disappeared.
When he finally stopped coming, Shen Boyan turned around and knocked Meng Xinqiao hard with his arm.
Such a physical contact finally broke the weird atmosphere between the two.
"...Have you drunk?" Meng Xinqiao lowered her eyes and was the first to break the calm.
"No." Shen Boyan said.
In fact, he felt a little bit hot, just a little bit. It didn't bother him, and it didn't even affect his thinking.
Meng Xinqiao seemed to exhale.
"You found out, didn't you?" he asked.
"If you're asking about wine, yes." Shen Boyan said.
"If you are asking about you." Shen Boyan continued slowly, "Yes."
Meng Xinqiao finally hesitated.
He was silent and speechless. Shen Boyan waited quietly, and after a long while, he said, "I'm sorry." When
Shen Boyan heard the words "I'm sorry," his heart dropped heavily.
"I'm not sorry." He lowered his eyes, no longer looking at Meng Xinqiao, and his eyes fell directly on the tile floor of the bathroom.
"I didn't expect this to happen." Meng Xinqiao said softly.
did not expect? Why didn't you think of that?
Shen Boyan looked at his toes and asked, "When did it happen?"
"On the second day after I made the engagement with you." Meng Xinqiao answered all questions.
"Why didn't you tell me?" Shen Boyan asked again.
Meng Xinqiao was silent for a moment: "It's too bizarre. I'm afraid you don't believe me."
It's you who doesn't believe me.
Shen Boyan said in his heart.
He was panicking, but no matter how he thought about it, he had no reason to lose his temper with Meng Xinqiao at this time.
It's not that close to begin with, so it's normal not to believe it.
Where does he stand?
"Do you know what's going on?" Shen Boyan paused and asked another concerned question.
"I know part of it." Meng Xinqiao still answered truthfully, "But I can't say...I'm sorry." If you don't want to
say it, don't say it.
"Then what do I need to do?" Shen Boyan retreated and asked for the next best thing.
He actually didn't like the feeling of just going with the flow, but Meng Xinqiao seemed to have no choice, so he could only give in.
This time Meng Xinqiao's pause was longer.
"Don't believe what he says." After a while, Meng Xinqiao said ambiguously.
Shen Boyan raised his head and met Meng Xinqiao's eyes. Meng Xinqiao's eyes were complicated but solemn.
"I understand." Shen Boyan said.
"I didn't believe him and didn't drink that glass of wine."
"That's good." Meng Xinqiao breathed a sigh of relief, "That's good if you didn't drink."
He looked relieved.
Shen Boyan didn't know why he was relieved. It was because he didn't have a relationship with Cheng Wenjun, or because he wasn't in trouble with alcohol, or both.
He didn't want to ask any more questions, so he told Meng Xinqiao everything that had happened in the past few days.
"I heard someone communicating with that person every night. That person wants to conquer me, and what is the progress of the attack." Shen Boyan said, "He said that if the progress is less than 75%, the punishment mode will be turned on."
" Is it here now?" Meng Xinqiao frowned and asked.
"No." Shen Boyan shook his head, "So he wanted to do something in my wine... I don't know how he did it, I just know that there is something wrong with the wine."
"Don't believe him, don't follow his wishes. Meng Xinqiao said, "He wants you to follow his intentions."
Shen Boyan didn't quite understand what this meant.
But Meng Xinqiao said so, and he decided to do it.
"Is that it?" Shen Boyan asked.
"That's it." Meng Xinqiao nodded.
Their voices were low, and the footsteps could be clearly heard in the corridor.
Their conversation was interrupted when someone entered the bathroom.
The visitor didn't seem to be Cheng Wenjun. He went to the toilet, washed his hands casually, dried them with a dryer, and then left.
Shen Boyan breathed a sigh of relief.
"Then I'm leaving," he said.
"Yeah." Meng Xinqiao responded.
Shen Boyan unscrewed the door bolt of the compartment. Just as he was about to open the door, Meng Xinqiao hurriedly grabbed his hand.
"Protect yourself." Meng Xinqiao said.
Shen Boyan's heart, which had been falling all this time, suddenly paused.
"Okay." He said.
After he finished speaking, he opened the door and left without looking back.
There weren't many people in the corridor, they were all concentrated in the banquet hall. Shen Boyan walked all the way back to the banquet hall, where the noise and the sound of violins hit him.
He looked around and saw no sign of Cheng Wenjun.
Shen Boyan refused the champagne brought by the waiter and waited quietly in the corner.
After a while, Cheng Wenjun, sweating profusely and looking anxious, pushed open the door and entered. When he saw Shen Boyan standing in the corner, his expression seemed blank for a moment.
Shen Boyan watched him stride towards her, breathing heavily.
"Xiaoyan, where have you been?" Cheng Wenjun couldn't control his tone as soon as he opened his mouth, and said with a bit of questioning, "Why can't I find you anywhere?"
"Just in the bathroom." Shen Boyan said without hesitation. Feeling guilty, he just replied, "My stomach doesn't feel right."
Cheng Wenjun was obviously very angry. His forehead twitched, and he probably wanted to say something harsh, but he could only endure it.
"I thought you were missing." He finally said, "I've been looking for you for a long time."
"I'm sorry." Shen Boyan apologized unapologetically.
Cheng Wenjun seemed to have finally remembered about the wine.
"Now, how do you feel?" he asked.
"It's okay." Shen Boyan said, "Nothing happened."
His expression was as usual, and his clothes were not messed up, as if nothing happened.
Cheng Wenjun was silent for half a minute.
"Isn't there any discomfort?" He asked again, not believing in evil.
"No." Shen Boyan shattered his last fantasy.
Cheng Wenjun's mouth twitched.
Shen Boyan watched him deal with his inner collapse, and his expression went through several rounds of subtle changes.
"That's good," he said hoarsely.
"It's getting late, let's go back."...
After Shen Boyan left the cubicle, Meng Xinqiao waited for more than ten minutes before slowly walking out of the bathroom.
He did not return to the banquet hall and left alone through the back door of the hotel.
Outside the hotel is a garden. It was late, and the garden was shrouded in darkness and silence, leaving only the sound of Meng Xinqiao's feet stepping on fallen leaves.
"I don't know."
He said softly to himself: "It sounds weird, doesn't it?"
"Yes, I didn't expect it." He added.
The sound of cars passing by came from the road next to the garden.
"I guessed wrong."
Meng Xinqiao stood at the exit. The moonlight slanted down, casting a shadow on the ground.
If Shen Boyan had paid careful attention, he might have discovered that the backs of Meng Xinqiao and Cheng Wenjun looked very similar.
Not a simple similarity, but an almost one-to-one replica. Their heights are almost the same, and their proportions are basically the same. The two bodies seemed to be carved from the same mold, just with different heads.
"I should have discovered it on the cruise ship." He said, "How could he not guess it?"
He paused, and the corners of his lips curled down helplessly.
"I won't change my plan. Don't worry, it's been like this for so many years."
"I can't bear it."
The exit door was open, and Meng Xinqiao pushed it open. He walked through the rusty door, stood on the side of the road, took out his cell phone and hailed a taxi.
The cold light of the phone illuminated his face.
In stark contrast to Cheng Wenjun, were his rather cold red and phoenix eyes. At this moment, his face was expressionless, and he actually looked a bit cold out of thin air.
He changed the topic: "That guy is quite comfortable using my identity."
"It's just whether he can catch it or not, that's another matter."
