Chapter 40: Things You Can Do
Heath suddenly raised his head, and then he found a ball of hot flame burst out in front of his right side, followed by a cloud of black smoke rising into the sky.
"Oh no! That's Changqing's chemical plant! Everybody, set off immediately!" Jun Shafeng stood up suddenly. She looked at the fire in that direction with a serious expression. Then she shouted , took out her Windy Dog, rode it and ran out quickly.
The Miss Junshas, who had been laughing and joking with each other before, immediately put down the barbecue and beer in their hands, called out their Growlithe and Windy, and quickly caught up with Junsha Feng. After a while, the entire barbecue party became empty, with only Heath still standing in the food cart.
"Oh..." Heath sighed, then took off the apron around his waist and put it in the dining cart. Then he walked out with Farfetch'd and Zorua.
"Trainer, what happened just now?" Zoroark looked at Heath curiously, then looked at the empty field in front of him and asked in confusion.
"There was an explosion somewhere just now. Sister Feng and the others went to rescue people." Heath looked at the blazing flames in the distance. It seemed that tonight was destined to be a sleepless night, and there was not much Heath could do.
Heath had heard Jun Shafeng say more than once before that everyone has their own responsibilities in society. Instead of rashly intervening in a field that they don't understand at all, it is better to think of ways to do their best in what they can do.
Heath looked down at his hands. He knew there was no way he could run into the fire scene to save people. Although Farfetch'd had magical protective properties, it was still a huge risk facing the fire in the chemical plant and the collapsed buildings. Heath didn't want Farfetch'd to take those risks.
Heath clenched his fists. The rescue of the chemical plant was under the responsibility of someone special, but Heath was just an ordinary person, and a chef at that. What could he do?
"It seems that I can only be a chef after all." Heath smiled. There were still some ingredients in the dining car, but they were definitely not enough.
Heath stepped onto the dining car. What he was worried about now was that he would not be able to drive and control the dining car. Fortunately, after walking into the cab, Heath discovered that this dining car actually had an automatic driving function. Heath could only pin his hopes on this function.
"I hope there won't be any problems like a certain brand." Heath pressed the automatic driving button nervously. The food truck made a roar and then started up slowly.
A route planning map also appeared on the screen in the dining truck's cab. Heath hesitated for a moment and set the destination to a vegetable store. He remembered that the vegetable store was usually open until about 11 o'clock in the evening.
Soon, the food truck drove quickly towards the destination specified by Heath, and Heath pulled the Farfetch'd to quickly process the ingredients on the truck. Zoroa silently ran water to wash the ingredients beside him, and she also wanted to do her part.
After the food truck stopped, Heath pushed open the door and jumped down. Then he saw Uncle Luo Shu, who was looking at the fire not far away with a worried look on his face.
"Uncle Luo Shu!" Heath shouted, and Uncle Luo Shu turned his head and looked at Heath. He was stunned for a moment, obviously not expecting Heath to appear here.
"Little Heath, why are you here?" Uncle Luo Shu glanced at Heath, then looked at the flames in front of him.
"Uncle, I'm here to buy ingredients! Give me these ingredients quickly." Heath took out the list of ingredients he had prepared on the dining car and handed it to Uncle Luo Shu, who took it and took a look.
Then Uncle Luo Shu frowned and looked at Heath hesitantly, as if he was confirming something.
"What you want is..." Looking at the hesitant Uncle Luo Shu, Heath quickly expressed his thoughts, and as a result, Heath received a whole food truck full of ingredients.
Uncle Luo Shu patted Heath's shoulder happily, and then told Heath that he was old and couldn't cook, so the task of feeding the rescue workers was left to Heath.
Heath agreed without hesitation, and then planned the route to the chemical plant. The fish given by Uncle Luo Shu saved Heath a lot of effort. When Heath arrived near the chemical plant, he was stopped.
"Little Heath, what are you doing here?" Jun Shaling looked at Heath with a bad look. Her face was all black and her clothes were burned with holes in them.
Heath looked behind Junshaling and saw a large group of water-type Pokémon busy using various water-type moves to put out the fire, while flying-type Pokémon flashed across the sky from time to time. Miss Junsha, Miss Joey, and the firefighters from Evergreen City were all busy here.
"I want to give the rescue workers a hot meal." Heath looked at Jun Shaling with firm eyes. He came here with this purpose.
Jun Shaling's expression froze for a moment, then a smile appeared on her face, but she still shook her head.
"Captain Feng said that no non-alliance personnel are allowed to enter this line. Do you understand?" Jun Shaling pointed to the cordon that blocked many people outside and said seriously.
Heath gave a knowing smile, which meant that as long as he didn't enter this line, he could do whatever he wanted and no one would stop him. Heath nodded with a smile, Jun Shaling nodded, and then continued to stand in the cordon.
Heath parked the food truck outside the cordon and was busy processing the ingredients on hand. There was not much he could do, but he also hoped to do his part and do something for these rescue workers.
After processing all the ingredients and putting them aside, Heath took a look outside the car.
More and more people gathered near the cordon . They were basically all from Viridian City, including office workers, trainers, and sales clerks from friendly stores. They all looked worriedly at the flames that showed no signs of diminishing.
There were many trainers who wanted to help, but Jun Shaling refused their entry. Only members of the alliance were allowed to enter!
Some trainers were also allowed in after showing their gym trainer certificates. Although they basically used ground-attribute Pokémon, they were able to make their own contributions to the disaster relief here under Sakaki's leadership.
"Mr. Sakaki is such a good man. I heard that shortly after the explosion here, Mr. Sakaki ran over from home to rescue people. Even his Nidoking was burned." Listening to the discussions of the people around him, Heath couldn't help but touch his nose.
Sakaki is such a strange person.
