Chapter 4 Time Cooks Rain three

Because of cheating, I lost the qualification to participate in the competition. What I didn't expect was that Hua Ziyin didn't get that place either. When I heard the news, I couldn't help but gloat over his misfortune, but in an instant I became angry because of the ridiculous reason why he lost the place - he didn't even come to take the exam on the day of the retest.
I heard that when the teacher asked him why he didn't come, he just said "I forgot because I had a date". That was the opportunity I tried my best to get, but he was so dismissive. This person is really hateful.
I blamed Hua Ziyin for not being able to celebrate my birthday with my mother in Z City, so every time I saw him on campus, I would glare at him even if we were far apart. At first, he looked aggrieved, but later, probably because he got used to it, he could ignore my cold eyes.
Sometimes, when I glanced at him coldly, I could even see him smiling shamelessly at me. Then I realized that the best way to deal with such a scoundrel like him was to turn a blind eye.
Boring people and things are always quickly forgotten, such as Hua Ziyin, Song Hexue, and the upcoming birthday without family.
I thought that after experiencing my sharp tongue, Song Hexue would stay away from me and our lives would never intersect again. However, I didn't expect that soon, Song Hexue would once again rush into my world in her own unique way.
That day was my birthday.
As usual, my parents were away on business, so I had to celebrate my birthday alone. As if to vent my dissatisfaction, I specially called my friends and held a grand birthday party in the lobby on the first floor.
Many people raised their glasses to congratulate me, whether they knew me or not, I smiled and nodded in response. As the sky gradually darkened, the music started, and I sang and danced recklessly, as if it was the happiest moment of my life. However, only I knew that my loneliness was even more desolate because of the hustle and bustle.
I quietly left the crowd with my glass in hand, and came to the courtyard alone. I sat on a stone bench, sipping the drink in my glass while looking back at the noisy world in the hall. Ten minutes passed, and no one noticed that I had left. They were immersed in the world of joy and had long forgotten me, the host of the party.
That "pink ball" was absolutely right. I don't have any friends. I took a sip of my drink and tried to smile, but so what? I, Song Xihe, don't need friends.
The doorbell rang at this time. The soft "ding dong ding dong" sound was almost covered by the deafening singing in the room, but I still heard it.
But I didn't want to pay attention to it. People who came just when the party was about to end showed that they were not sincere. However, the voice kept ringing. I sighed, put down my glass reluctantly, stood up and opened the door.
When the door opened, I regretted it. Standing outside was Song Hexue. She was wearing a pink lace sweater with a bow, and her fat body made the sweater bulge out, like a funny and ridiculous ball.
I frowned in annoyance, but she smiled and said to me as if she didn't know how to read my expression, "Xihe, happy birthday!"
Her tone was so familiar, as if I was her best friend.
I was really tired of dealing with people like her who kept pestering me, so I wanted to close the door immediately, but she suddenly handed me a thermos bucket: "Xihe, come and eat longevity noodles."
It is a tradition for local people to eat a bowl of longevity noodles on their birthdays. A bowl of noodles only consists of a long, thin noodle, which must be eaten in one breath without being bitten off, to indicate longevity and good health.
Because my mother was always busy with work, I haven't tasted longevity noodles since I was ten years old. I think it's just a bowl of plain noodles, but I don't know why, in recent years, I miss that taste more and more on every birthday.
But I wasn't going to be easily bribed by a bowl of noodles. I blocked the door to prevent her from entering. My eyes fell on the thermos in her hand for a long time, and I made a disgusted expression: "Who wants to eat your food?"
"But this is longevity noodles." She smiled innocently, "You can't miss longevity noodles on your birthday."
"How do you know I didn't eat?" Maybe because she guessed my thoughts, or maybe just because the music coming from the hall was too irritating, my tone couldn't help but become sharp.
"I've asked around." She lowered her head and fiddled with the thermos bucket helplessly. "Your parents are not at home, and I don't think you can make longevity noodles by yourself, so..."
"So you like to ask about my affairs so much?" I said disdainfully, "Song Hexue, are you so deliberate in trying to be my friend?"
"I didn't." She suddenly looked up at me, "I, I just feel sorry for you."
"Do you feel sorry for me?" I screamed without caring about my image, like a cat whose tail was stepped on.
In order to prove her wrong, I shouted to the crowd in the hall: "Come on, tell me, who is more pitiful, me or the fat man at the door?"
Yes, I used the word "fat" at that time. Later, thinking about it carefully, it was probably because I was already furious at that time. Who let Song Hexue see through my heart at a glance?
I don't remember exactly what happened after I yelled, but I can imagine Song Hexue was greeted by even more mockery from the crowd. I only remember the look in her eyes when she left with the thermos.
There was no sadness or anger in her eyes. Her eyes were full of sympathy. Yes, she sympathized with me, sympathized with me for being a poor and lonely person.
I was stung by her eyes, and slammed the door in anger, returned to the crowd with laughter, and danced ecstatically. However, within five minutes, I developed a deep fear of this false happiness.
I quickly escaped from the crowd and unknowingly arrived at the gate. Outside, a single moon was hanging high in the sky, and the moonlight was cold and clear, which matched my mood at the moment.
I gently opened the door and walked out, and at a glance I saw the pink thermos at the door.
The thermos bucket seemed to be under a spell, and I couldn't help but walk over and open it. The aroma filled my nose. I took a deep breath, silently looked at the bucket of noodles that had already gone mushy, and tears suddenly fell.
In this world, everyone has different wishes. Some seek wealth and glory, some seek youth and beauty, and all I want is to have a bowl of longevity noodles made by my mother on my birthday. But even such a humble wish is shattered year after year.
I squatted on the ground and greedily took a sip of the warm noodle soup from the thermos. Before I could swallow it, I was frightened by a voice and almost spit out all the noodle soup.
"The noodles are all mushy, so don't eat them! I'll ask my mom to make it for you next time. I'll make it for you on every birthday in the future."
Song Hexue suddenly came out from somewhere, squatted in front of me, looked up at me with a pair of bright eyes.
It turned out that she had not left, so she had waited until this moment to see me make a fool of myself. I made up my mind that even if she caught me, I would never admit that I was thinking about this bowl of noodles with her.
"Who wants to eat your noodles? I just want to see what's in it. It smells so bad!" I put the thermos bucket heavily on the ground in front of her, stood up, turned around and was about to leave.
She suddenly grabbed the corner of my clothes and handed the thermos bucket back to me: "Is that so? Then you continue to watch slowly. I have to go back."
As if possessed by some mysterious force, I took the thermos bucket. She immediately smiled contentedly, skipped away, and occasionally turned around and waved at me.
I looked at her excited back as she left, and suddenly I felt annoyed. Song Xihe, it's just a bowl of noodles, is it worth being laughed at like this?
So when Song Hexue turned and waved at me again, I shouted at her unceremoniously: "Hey, I didn't agree to be your friend."
But she ignored me and continued to wave at me with a smile. I knew that I couldn't get rid of this "pink ball" for a while.
Since I couldn't get rid of her, I had no choice but to let her be . Therefore, not long after my birthday, Song Hexue became one of my many little followers. Although I never treated her well, I no longer refused her to be my "little tail".
If there hadn't been the unexpected changes that happened later, I think Song Hexue and I would have been just a school belle and her follower for the rest of our lives.
