Chapter 30: Meow Wants Clothes

"Are you kidding me?! A cat plays the piano?!"
When Goodman asked where the musician who had just performed was, Tom calmly got down from the piano stool, tugged at his bow tie, and bowed very gentlemanly.
The boatmen were so frightened that their eyeballs bulged out.
"No, brother Tatsuya, I know Tom is very smart, but there must be a limit, right?" Goodman knew a little about Tom, but now he realized that he only knew a little.
"Tom, do you want to play more? If you feel tired, just play a short piece." Zhang Da also asked Tom for his opinion.
Tom nodded and sat back down, playing the last bit of the Turkish March.
The boatmen watched Tom's movements and listened to the sound of the piano, their mouths opening wider and wider.
A few minutes later, the piano music stopped, and the boatmen all lowered their jaws to the floor and burst into cheers:
"marvelous!"
"What a great kitty!"
"Where can I buy this kind of cat?"
Tom glanced at these stupid humans and acted very indifferent to the cheers. He walked steadily to Zhang Daye's side, took off his tuxedo and handed it to Zhang Daye.
After taking off his tuxedo, Tom seemed like a different cat. He waved triumphantly amid the cheers, then slipped back to the bar to drink tea and read the newspaper.
Zhang Da also looked at the group of idiots blocking the door and whistling excitedly, patted his forehead helplessly and asked: "Uncles and brothers, what are you doing here?"
Goodman responded: "Oh, right, I almost forgot something."
Uncle Goodman was still reliable and quickly took them to buy some wine. Zhang Da felt a little relieved.
He continued, "Besides drinking, there is another more important thing for me to do today, which is..."
At this point, Goodman put his arm around Zhang Daye's shoulders and asked slyly, "The lady who ran with you this morning is the one sitting over there, right? Tell me what your relationship is?"
Zhang Daye: ???
Why are you guys so gossipy?
Reluctantly, he introduced Altria to everyone as the tavern's guard.
These guys didn't bother to be surprised at how Altria, with her petite figure, could be a bodyguard. They all cried and asked why she wasn't Zhang Daye's lover, sister, or bar waitress.
Only Goodman was smiling happily, because none of the others won the bet he made, so the dealer won everything.
Zhang Da also just wanted to say that these people are really bored.
The fifteen boatmen turned their grief and anger into drinking. Each of them had a bottle of wine, and they drank directly from the bottle without even taking a glass.
The wines they took were all worth more than 1,000 Baileys, which made Zhang Da smile.
"The one leading us is Uncle Goodman. When we first arrived here, Tom and I were taken care of by his family." Zhang Da also brought them some roast chicken and meat and other food, and returned to the bar to introduce them to Altria.
"He sounds like a good man." Altria nodded, looking at the noisy crowd and seeing no signs of trouble, and ate her snacks.
Goodman boasted to his fellow workers for a while, then came to chat with Zhang Daye.
"How's it going, little brother? Has everything been going well these days?"
"It's not bad. I was just busy for a while while cleaning and counting the goods. If the customers were as carefree as they are now, it would seem that running a pub would be quite easy?"
"Haha, that's true most of the time. Otherwise, how could Old Bob have managed to run the business for so long without losing money?" Goodman took a sip of wine. "But you cleaned it up really well. It's not as greasy as before."
Of course it was clean. Tom cleaned it himself. He gave face by not tearing down the pub and rebuilding it.
“Maybe many people prefer the greasy feeling of old taverns?” Zhang Da also thinks that the old taverns in the movies are a little shabby and greasy, and have a fireplace to create a more atmospheric atmosphere.
However, it is better to keep the place you live in and run clean, since there is no Hearthstone to play anyway.
Goodman is obviously a man without sentiment: "Where can you find such a weirdo?"
Zhang Da also smiled and said, "Why haven't I seen Little Baier these days?"
"Molly didn't allow him to trouble you because she was worried that you would be busy during the opening days," Goodman said.
"You can see that I'm not that busy here. You can come over and play anytime." Zhang Da also felt that Bayer was the most sensible one among the many naughty children he had met.
"Okay, I'll tell him, but I'm planning to take him to the shipyard as an apprentice."
"He's not even five years old, is he?"
"What's wrong with five years old? It reminds me of when I was young..." Goodman was stuck. He couldn't be as young as five years old. He couldn't brag about it. It was embarrassing.
He raised the bottle and said, "Anyway, I don't want him to run around like this every day."
Zhang Da also nodded. Although he was familiar with them, he couldn't say too much about how other families educated their children.
"When did you meet that lady, little brother? She's obviously not an ordinary person, right?" Goodman hooked his arm around Zhang Tatsuya's shoulder and lowered his voice with an elder's smile, "And Molly heard that you went shopping with a girl, and she said with a smile that Tatsuya-kun has reached that age, so she asked me to ask you, are you really not...that kind of relationship?"
Altria looked over there strangely, and Zhang Da waved his hand to indicate that everything was fine.
With the alcohol fumes spraying all over his face, Zhang Da pushed Goodman away with a bit of disgust: "I told you she's a guard, a knight from Britain, a very reliable person."
Before Goodman could ask more, others shouted, "Brother, there's not enough wine! And the meat too!"
"Coming!" Zhang Da also hurried to deliver the things.
"Goodman, are you trying to avoid the alcohol by running over there?"
"Hide your ass , I can take down ten of you!"
After a lot of noise, the group spent nearly 100,000 Baileys, and that was because they had to work in the afternoon and couldn't drink too much.
The profit was very high, but the high tax made him feel distressed. He thought that he might as well wait until he was strong enough to move to the illegal area and extort money like Xia Qi .
After the boatmen left, more guests came one after another. Some drank alone, while others came in groups of three or five.
Occasionally, old customers of the tavern would ask about Old Bob's situation, and Zhang Da would tell them the truth and try to chat with them, mostly talking about which pirate group was causing trouble, which naval commander had made a contribution, and other recent news in the newspapers.
The pub was open from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., and during a short break, Zhang Da was cleaning up the messy table.
We had lunch when there were few customers, so it was a bit rushed. Zhang Da was also considering whether he should move lunch forward to 10:30 in the future, so that he could finish lunch at around 11 o'clock before opening the business.
Tom turned over lazily on the bar, not wanting to move.
However, Altria imitated Zhang Daye and helped with the work. Seeing her holding the mop as seriously as if it were a sword, Zhang Daye was a little worried that she would poke a hole in the floor.
