Chapter 3 Time knows nothing about wind and rain 02
When I got back to school, it was almost curfew time. Several girls in my dormitory all had boyfriends, and if they hadn't come back at this time, they probably wouldn't come back.
Because I was so tired, I fell asleep as soon as I got into bed. But my sleep was not peaceful. I dreamed of the day two years ago when Ning Qiyuan left the hospital. I chased after him, but I never caught up with him. In the end, I could only collapse on the ground, holding my aching stomach and gasping for breath.
Gradually, my stomach hurt more and more, and I had to wake up from my dream, crawl out of bed in the dark and run to the toilet. Maybe I ate something unclean, so I ran to the toilet several times in a row, my head became more and more dizzy, and I vomited twice. My whole body was hot and sweaty. Finally, I couldn't hold it any longer, so I reluctantly put on my clothes and left the dormitory.
It was already past midnight and the dormitory building had long been closed. Fortunately, the dormitory supervisor was still awake and let me go when he saw that I was not feeling well.
I waited for a long time at the school gate, bent over and holding my stomach, before I finally got a car. The driver saw that I was in great pain, so he took me to the nearest hospital. He drove very fast along the way and even ran through several red lights.
"Little girl, be patient, we'll be there soon." The driver's concerned voice sounded in my ears.
I lay down on the back seat, nodding my head while trying to hold back the pain. My clothes were soaked with sweat, and I curled up into a ball. I suddenly thought of the time when I was 16 years old. Not long after I ate ice cream, I got my period. I had such severe stomach pain that I couldn't even attend class. Ning Qiyuan rushed to our class, carried me to the infirmary in front of the whole class, and stayed with me for the whole afternoon. Although he obviously took the opportunity to sleep in the infirmary, I couldn't forget the way he lay beside my bed and slept quietly, just like the hero in a romance novel.
I actually didn't believe that Ning Qiyuan would be so kind. Later I asked him why he wanted to help me when he obviously hated me. He said that only if I was well, would there be someone to wash his clothes, cook for him, and clean up all the messes for him.
I was naturally very angry at that time, but now I really want him to appear by my side and say to me, Tong Shuchen, get better, I still need someone to wash my clothes and cook for me.
As I thought about it, my vision became blurry and my nose felt sore and uncomfortable. I had to hold back my tears with all my might.
"We're here, we'll be fine soon!" Seeing me like this, the driver comforted me.
Sure enough, the car stopped after a while. The driver helped me out of the car without saying a word and kindly took me to the emergency room.
I had acute gastroenteritis and needed an IV. The driver stayed by my side the whole time. He left only after the nurse gave me the injection. He didn't even ask me for the fare when he left, but just told me to have a good rest. I am very grateful to him.
Because no one was watching over me, I had to watch the IV bottle by myself, and when it was almost finished, I had to call the nurse to change the dressing for me. There were not many people in the hospital at midnight, it was empty, and the entire IV room was empty except for me and the nurse on duty. I felt a little cold and wanted a blanket, but when I saw the nurse watching TV at the duty desk, I didn't say anything and just hugged myself.
At daybreak, the two bottles of medicine were finally finished, and my left hand was so stiff that I could hardly move it. However, the medicine worked quickly and I felt much better. The nurse told me to eat light food and pay more attention to my diet for the next few days, and told me to go to the pharmacy to get some medicine and then I could leave.
There were not many people coming to the hospital at this time. I had hardly ever been to a hospital in all the time I had been in Li City. I searched for a long time before I finally found a pharmacy. The nurse in the pharmacy had just come to work. She took my medicine list and asked me to wait, then walked away.
I took out my cell phone out of boredom and checked the time. When I looked up again, a somewhat familiar figure suddenly appeared in my sight. My eyes widened immediately and I chased after him without caring about anything else.
The man was tall and thin, wearing a white shirt and black trousers, and the way he walked was very similar to the boy I remembered.
Ning Qiyuan, is it Ning Qiyuan?
I heard the nurse's voice behind me asking me to get medicine, but I turned a deaf ear to her. Even though I had no strength left in my body, I gritted my teeth and ran after her.
"Ning Qiyuan!" I shouted towards the figure with a glimmer of hope.
The man seemed to pause for a moment, then quickened his pace and walked towards the elevator.
It was this action of his that made me even more certain. Seeing that he did not stop, I quickened my pace to catch up with him. However, I was too weak, and even if I walked faster, I could not catch up with him.
"Ning Qiyuan, Ning Qiyuan, is that you?" I called his name over and over again. The more he walked, the more I was sure that it was him.
But he seemed not to have heard me at all. He walked to the elevator at the end of the corridor and disappeared. I hurriedly chased after him, but was finally cut off by the elevator door.
The hospital is very high up, with many wards. I couldn't find him if I searched one by one. I went back to the pharmacy to get the medicine, and then ran to the hospital's service desk to ask the nurse on duty if there was a patient named Ning. Ning Qiyuan would be in the hospital now, maybe he was sick like me?
"I'm sorry, we don't have any patients with the last name Ning."
The nurse's words immediately extinguished the little hope in my heart. I left the hospital dejectedly and stood on the street helplessly. I looked back at the more than ten-story hospital building, feeling extremely sad.
While waiting for the bus on the roadside, I received a call from Jiang Sijin, asking me if I had gotten up, if I was free today, and asking me to go shopping with her.
I weakly refused: "I just came out of the hospital, I'm afraid I don't have the energy to go shopping with you."
"What's wrong with you?" Jiang Sijin asked me immediately.
"I had acute gastroenteritis last night and just finished the IV drip."
"What? Why didn't you call me if you were not feeling well? Are you feeling better now?" Jiang Sijin said nervously, "Where are you now?"
"Wait for the car at the hospital gate."
"Is it the hospital closest to your school? I'm very close to there. Wait for me, I'll come and pick you up right away." After saying that, Jiang Sijin hung up the phone in a hurry without waiting for my answer.
About 20 minutes later, Jiang Sijin arrived in a taxi, holding a bowl of freshly cooked vegetable porridge. After pulling me into the car, she urged me, "I think you haven't eaten yet, so I brought it for you on the way here."
My heart warmed, and I didn't hesitate to open it and started eating slowly.
Jiang Sijin scolded me beside me: "I told you to pay more attention to your diet. You never pay attention to it. You have to go to the hospital and suffer like this to learn your lesson."
I concentrated on eating and ignored her. The vegetable porridge was very warming to the stomach. After drinking a bowl of it, the remaining discomfort in the stomach slowly dissipated. "How was your day yesterday?" I asked purely to divert her attention.
Jiang Sijin blushed immediately: "You should just take care of yourself, don't worry about so much. If you envy me, find a boyfriend quickly, and don't always think about Ning Qiyuan, he has long since left you..."
"I saw him," I interrupted.
"What?" Jiang Sijin seemed not to hear clearly.
I looked at her and said word by word: "I saw Ning Qiyuan."
Jiang Sijin stretched out her hand and put it on my forehead, and said in surprise: "You don't have a fever, are you confused or hallucinating? How could Ning Qiyuan appear?"
"But I really saw him." I said stubbornly.
The figure in the hospital looked so much like him. Even though I hadn't seen him for two years, how could I forget that person? His appearance was engraved in my heart. We had been together day and night for those years, how could I have made a mistake in recognizing him?
How could it not be him?
If it wasn't him, why did he stop for a moment when I called out his name?
"Even if the person you saw was really him, if he doesn't come to find you, you shouldn't look for him anymore, Tong Shuchen, don't be stupid anymore. A heartless person like him, how could he come back after he left?"
After sending me back to the school dormitory, Jiang Sijin went back. Although we had a small quarrel in the car because of Ning Qiyuan, she did not forget to ask the girls in the same dormitory to take care of me when she left, and asked me to take medicine on time, and she would come to see me again in two days.
In the evening, my father called me. I didn't tell him that I saw someone in the hospital who might be Ning Qiyuan. Maybe Jiang Sijin was right. Even if that person was really him, he hadn't thought about going back to see me or my father in the past two years, which meant that he didn't want to see us again.
But I still couldn't accept that he left in that way, without even saying "goodbye".
