Chapter 3: T-junction
"Ye Yun, what are you doing?"
Zhang Datou called out from behind, and I shuddered all over, stuffing all into my pocket. I quickly turned around and replied, "Nothing."
He looked at me with some doubt. I pretended to be calm, but the nerves on my forehead started beating again, and my head hurt as if it was going to explode. I could only press the nerves hard with my hands.
"Hey, what's wrong with you?"
Zhang Datou asked in surprise. I waved my hands, forced a smile, and said, "It's nothing, I didn't sleep well last night, I'll go back and get some sleep."
"Are you still driving tonight?"
I glanced at him and said, "Is this car still available? Get me a new one."
"If you don't want to express your love, forget it."
Zhang Datou said, shaking his hands, and then turned and walked towards the office. I cursed inwardly, this bastard actually let me drive car No. 6438. Damn, Zheng Feng died in this car. Every time I drive, I think of Zheng Feng's horrible misery. How can I drive?
Forget it, I have a severe headache today, I should go back to sleep. I haven't been in the mood to drive these days, and it's no big deal to stop working for a few days. The money I saved in the past two months is enough to send home this month.
I fell asleep as soon as I got back to the dormitory. I didn't know if I was asleep or not. Half asleep and half awake, I came to the T-junction again and saw the beautiful woman and Zheng Feng again. They were all pale as paper, with no pupils in their eyes. Their pupils were like deep caves, and bright red blood was oozing out of their pupils.
They pounced on me, and I tried to run away, but my body seemed to be frozen, unable to move at all. The two of them pounced on me, the woman pinched my neck, and Zheng Feng grabbed my eyes with both hands, as if he wanted to dig my eyeballs out.
"Brother Yun, save me!"
Zheng Feng suddenly growled, and I trembled all over and instinctively turned over and sat up.
I was still in the dormitory. The room was quiet except for my heavy breathing. I wiped my forehead, which was covered with sweat. The nerves on my forehead were still throbbing abnormally, but the pain had eased a lot.
I reached for my phone and checked. It was already past six in the afternoon. The days in summer are long, and it was still bright outside. I got out of bed and walked to the window. I lived on the fifth floor, and my window faced a street downstairs. It was rush hour, and the street was bustling with people.
Even though it was already this late, it was still as warm as a kang outside. I pulled my head back, closed the window, and took a hot shower.
After dinner, I wanted to read a book. I didn't have money to study when I was young, but now I have some money, I still want to read more books. But I couldn't calm down. The faces of that woman and Zheng Feng lingered in my mind.
The sky outside the window gradually darkened. I read a book absentmindedly for a while. When it was almost eight o'clock, I couldn't help it. This matter had to be resolved, otherwise I couldn't calm down.
I took a taxi to the company, but Zhang Datou had already left work. I made a note with the duty officer, and then drove Taxi No. 6438 to Dawang Village. Since the incident all started from that Dawang Village, it should end there.
Following the route on the navigation system, I came to this wilderness again. I drove the car directly to the end of the T-junction. I checked the time, it was only half past nine. It should have been a little after twelve when I arrived here last night.
I looked out the window , it was pitch black, the lights didn't shine far before they were swallowed up by the endless darkness. I hesitated for a moment, then got out of the car. A gust of night wind blew, bringing a hint of chill. I took a deep breath and turned on the flashlight I brought with me.
I used the flashlight to shine outside the T-junction. It was exactly the same as what I saw in the photo in the policeman's hand during the day, all covered with weeds, more than half a person high, and I didn't know if there were any wild animals hiding in there.
I turned around the car a few times, and apart from the cold wind and the whirring sound of the wind, there seemed to be nothing unusual. Could it be that I had to wait until after twelve o'clock for something to happen?
I turned around again, then got back into the car and locked the window. I came here in a hurry and didn't bring any self-defense items. In the novels I read before, to deal with ghosts, you need some black dog blood, peach wood swords, ghost-painted talismans, etc. I have nothing in my hands. If the female ghost from last night really runs out, what should I do?
It's too late to go back and get it now, and those things are just from novels and TV shows, and I don't know if they are true.
Time passed by little by little in my anxious waiting. I wanted time to go faster, and I also wanted it to go slower. But it finally came to twelve o'clock.
At twelve o'clock, a ray of light suddenly flashed in front of the T-junction. My heart tightened, and I quickly opened my eyes to look. However, the light was not very bright, so I turned off the small lights in the car and looked again. The light was not far in front of the T-junction, probably only a few dozen meters away, but it might be because the weeds were too deep, blocking a lot of light, so I couldn't see it clearly in the car.
I put on my coat, searched for a wrench in the car that I could use as a weapon, and got out of the car with a flashlight. The wind outside was getting colder, so I tightened my clothes, put the wrench on my belt, found a stick on the side of the road, held the flashlight in my left hand, and walked into the weeds towards the light in front of me.
The weeds were up to my waist, and some of them were even up to my chest. Although I am not a coward, I was nervous to be in such a bush in the middle of the night in the wilderness.
I carefully pressed down the weeds with a stick and walked forward a little bit. After walking for a long time finally arrived in front of the light. It was looming, and a large part of it was blocked by weeds.
I stepped on the weeds around the light and finally saw the whole picture of the light. It emitted a faint blue halo, was about one meter tall, and was close to the ground. It was an irregular circle, and it was slightly squirming like a living thing.
Next to the light was a large stone, half a person's height, which looked quite old and covered with weeds. I used a stick to remove the weeds on the stone, revealing a few large characters carved on it.
"Dawang Village!"
Damn, this really is Dawang Village!
Stone tablets like this are usually erected at the entrance of the village. Judging from the age, this place has probably been abandoned for decades. Although the stone tablet is still there, there is nothing here except weeds.
"call!"
A gust of wind blew, and the grass heads fluttered. A grass head that I had broken off was blown up by the wind and floated right into the light, and it flashed away. It was as if it was swallowed by the light.
My heart tightened, and I quickly took two steps back, staring at the light. I broke off a bunch of weeds and threw them over, but as soon as they came into contact with the light, they suddenly disappeared.
Could this light be a door? I circled around the light, but before I could find anything unusual, the light suddenly flickered, like a light bulb with a bad contact.
Oops, the light is going out!
I quickly circled back to the front of the light, then stepped into it with a determined heart. It has come to this point, if I back down again, wouldn't that be too cowardly?
