Chapter 3: Fate Takes You by Surprise 02
Once you want to do anything and try your best, sometimes even God will help you, just like what I want good luck to come to me.
The last class of the day was physical education. Because the physical education teacher was going to have a baby, we didn’t have to attend the class. This was undoubtedly the most exciting thing for our class.
The happiest person, of course, is Jiaomei, because she can go on a date with her Gu Yufan in advance!
As for me, I naturally went home early to accompany my mother and watch my favorite TV series.
When I got home, my mother was busy in the kitchen. The rich aroma of dishes wafted over from the kitchen from time to time. I sat in front of the TV, watching the latest episode of the idol drama. This was undoubtedly the happiest thing!
It’s just that mom was a little strange today. She was busy in the kitchen for most of the day and seemed to have made a lot of delicious dishes.
"Mom, are there any guests coming today?" During the commercial break , I stuck my head out and shouted towards the kitchen.
"There are no guests, just the two of us! Come, let's eat. Today our Xiaole wants to eat a full meal."
My mother brought the steaming hot dishes to the table one after another. This table was full of my favorite dishes of my mother's - sweet and sour pork ribs, basil three-cup chicken, tangerine peel duck, blanched prawns, braised crabs, baby cabbage in soup, and some stir-fried vegetarian dishes.
"Mom, do you want me to become a fat girl all at once?" I asked in surprise, looking at the table full of exaggerated feast that only the two were eating.
"Come, eat slowly. Mom wants to tell you something later."
"Is it a good thing or a bad thing?" I was about to steal a piece of tangerine peel duck with my hands, but my mother gently stopped me.
"Go wash your hands, quickly." Mother's words were full of warm maternal love.
"Oh alright."
Thinking that a table of delicious dishes would soon fill my poor stomach, I rushed to the kitchen and washed my hands.
"What? I don't want to be separated from you!" I picked up a piece of pork ribs and was about to put it in my mouth, but I was scared by my mother's words and it fell into the bowl.
My mother told me helplessly that she had to go to City B for three months of training because of a promotion, and there was still some time before the winter vacation. No one at home could take care of my daily life, so she could only entrust her good friend Aunt Liu to take care of me and let me move to her house temporarily. When the three-month training period was over, she would take me home immediately.
"Xiao Le, it will only be three months. It will be quick. Once the three months are up, Mom will go to Aunt Liu's house to pick you up."
"You're not going to abandon me like dad, are you?" I almost cried out loud.
"Silly child, how could that be? It's only three months. Mom works hard so that we Xiaole can live a better life." The more my mother spoke, the more moved she became. She hugged me in her arms. I tried my best to hold back my tears, but I could no longer control the pain of such a short separation and finally burst into tears.
However, no matter how much I didn't want to be separated from my mother, my mother's training could not be delayed in any way. I had to sort out my emotions, calm down my mood, and after a good dinner, I packed my luggage with my mother and moved to Aunt Liu's house.
Aunt Liu's home is on the hillside. It is the most famous villa area in Baicheng. Single-family villas stand on the hillside, isolated from the world and proudly standing above the city. Standing on it and overlooking the whole city, it is colorful and unique.
"Wow...it's so beautiful." I couldn't help but praise it. Although my family also lived in a wealthy area when I was a child, it was far inferior to Aunt Liu's detached villa.
"Aunt Liu is a very nice person, and her home is very warm. Oh, by the way, Aunt Liu has a son who is said to go to the same school as you. It's just right that you have a companion..."
"Oh, Youzhen, you're here. I told you to ask the driver to pick you up, but you're still being polite to me." Before my mother could finish her words, a loud female voice came from behind the door.
I heard her voice before I saw her. This must be the legendary Aunt Liu.
"You're welcome, Shirley." Sure enough, a kind-looking, well-dressed middle-aged woman opened the door.
My mother excitedly went over to greet her. In the next few minutes, Aunt Liu greeted my mother and introduced me.
"Xiao Le is so beautiful, Youzhen, it's great that you can let Xiao Le come and live in my house. You know, I have always wanted to have a daughter, but unfortunately I was too busy when I was young to have one. Now, I finally have a daughter to love!" Aunt Liu came over and hugged me tightly, with a happy smile on her face.
"Hello, Aunt Liu." I pursed my lips and greeted her softly.
"Oh, my good daughter, you are so good. Don't bother. I'll ask my son to come and help you move your things into the house." Aunt Liu was very gentle. My first meeting with her was not as scary as I had imagined, "being fostered in someone else's home". Instead, it was surprisingly warm, which slowly made me feel better.
"Xiao Xi, come out and help." Aunt Liu called into the house, then smiled and patted my shoulder and continued to have a brief chat with my mother.
Wait, what was Aunt Liu’s name just now?
Xiaoxi? That can't be a coincidence!
Somehow, I couldn't help but think of Ju Chenxi. There are so many people with the same last syllable as him, so it couldn't be him. I felt a little nervous and uneasy. I rubbed my trouser legs with my hands, wiping the fine beads of sweat oozing from my palms back and forth on the trouser legs.
I remember reading a sentence before: If you think about something, you will think about it. Because you are always thinking about someone in your heart or mind, no matter what the occasion, you will imagine whether the other person will suddenly appear, and my current state just happens to meet this magically!
Thinking of this, I nervously turned my gaze to the other direction.
"I'm coming." A familiar, slightly magnetic male voice came slowly from the door. The closer the voice got, the faster my heart beat.
"Aunt Yan, hello, I'm Chenxi."
It turns out that the saying "If you keep thinking about someone, there will be a response" is true. Because my mind was full of Ju Chenxi, he really appeared in front of me at this moment, and I was about to start a three-month "living together" with him.
I thought God must be playing a sweet joke on me.
"Hi, hehe, hi." I awkwardly looked away from him and met his eyes, which were now full of tenderness. What made me curious was that Ju Chenxi was not surprised to see me. On the contrary, he acted very naturally.
"Welcome, Xiaoyan." He took the suitcase from my hand and made a pleasant face at me.
"Hey, it seems that Xiaoyan and Xiaoxi are from the same school and the same grade, right, Xiaoxi?" Aunt Liu asked with a smile.
"It's true that we're in the same grade and school, but... classmate Yan, why don't you explain it yourself?" Ju Chenxi pulled the corner of his mouth and gestured for me to continue his words with a sly smile, as if this unique tacit understanding between us happened naturally.
"Uh, yes, that's right, we are in the same department! It's just that I am in Class F and he is in Class A." I was assigned to Class F because of my poor grades, and I lowered my head in shame.
"Oh, Class F is Class F. It's not good to have a genius like Xiaoxi. I don't even have the chance to cook him a midnight snack while he reads! But, Xiaole, it's good that you're here. Auntie will cook a midnight snack for you every day from now on." Aunt Liu felt sorry for the fact that Ju Chenxi went to bed on time every night and didn't have the chance to cook a midnight snack. Then she remembered that I was going to move in soon, and she immediately smiled again.
"Oh, yes, yes, thank you Aunt Liu." I pursed my lips and smiled embarrassedly.
"Xiao Xi should also take care of Xiao Le more. After all, she is a girl, so she should help more."
"Okay...right." Ju Chenxi stuck out his tongue at me again. The face he made completely overturned my previous impression of him as aloof and cold!
After a brief greeting, I said goodbye to my mother with a hug. My mother handed me over to Aunt Liu with confidence, and I also said a few kind words to her before she left.
Just like that, our "playing house-like cohabitation" life where Ju Chenxi and I would see each other all the time officially began.
