Chapter 27: Ghost
After sitting quietly for 20 minutes without talking, the burgers were delivered and they started eating. Bobby ate very elegantly, and this time it was Liang Xi's turn to have questions: "Since you have a proud personality and look down on street food, and you still have a lot of time, why don't you eat something you like?"
Bobby pretended to be mysterious: " Because if I leave, you won't see ghosts... This burger is delicious, more flavorful than the burgers I usually eat."
Liang Xi replied: "That's because you are hungry."
Bobby: "How do you know?"
Liang Xi: "If you are not hungry, how could you ask me to order food for you?" Are you insulting my profession or your own personality?
Bobby looked at Liang Xi and said, "That makes sense. You are an interesting detective."
Bobby first gave a slight affirmation to Liang Xi, saying that Liang Xi was not a bad guy, and then he said casually: "You, a psychic, are also interesting." Although he didn't know what was interesting about it.
Bobby didn't answer the question, but seemed to be thinking about something. After finishing the burger, Bobby said, "I'll tell you a secret."
Liang Xi said: "You don't have to say it."
Bobby said, "Actually I can't communicate with ghosts."
Liang Xi asked in disbelief: "Really?"
Bobby couldn't stand it anymore and raised his middle finger, but he felt that it was not enough, so he put down his Coke and raised another one with his free hand. Liang Xi didn't bother to pay attention. He had already used up all the English words to curse, and repeating it would make him look at a loss for words.
Liang Xi's lack of response embarrassed Bobby, so he quietly put away his middle finger and said, "From middle school to today, I have lived in haunted houses and houses rumored on the Internet more than a hundred times, and I have never seen any ghosts."
Liang Xi asked: "Why? Even ghosts don't want to see you?"
Bobby waved his hand, not wanting to talk to Liang Xi, and went to the bathroom in the big room to pee. He peed, washed his hands, and walked out of the big room. Liang Xi was standing aside: "Hey."
Bobby jumped up three feet high, furious. Liang Xi immediately ran away, and Bobby chased him to the hall. Liang Xi hurriedly said, "Die! I just want to see if you are afraid of ghosts."
Bobby looked at Liang Xi with hatred. He knew that he would still be at a disadvantage if they fought. He gritted his teeth and said, "I'm not afraid of ghosts, I'm afraid of people."
The two returned to their seats. Bobby sat back on the sleeping bag he brought with him, while Liang Xi sat directly on the wooden floor. After sitting for a while, his butt felt uncomfortable, so Liang Xi stood up and said, "I'll go to a nearby store to buy a cushion."
Bobby hurriedly said, "No, if you leave the house it might cause the ghost not to appear."
Liang Xi had doubts in his heart. He already had a certain mature reasoning about the so-called haunted house. He only needed to meet Lily and talk to her. After completing the puzzle, he could confirm whether Lily had a mental problem or there was really an intruder. But after hearing what Bobby said, Liang Xi didn't understand why Bobby was so sure that there was a ghost at night. Because whether there was really an intruder or Lily had a mental problem, according to his reasoning, there could be no ghost tonight.
Liang Xi could see that Bobby was arrogant. He was so persistent and sure that he could see ghosts. He was not making a false claim. Thinking of Bobby's experience of living in haunted houses for a hundred times, Liang Xi felt a little unsure.
Liang Xi asked: "Have you ever seen a ghost?"
Bobby did not answer Liang Xi's question immediately, but asked: "Do you believe it?"
Liang Xi shook his head.
Bobby was not surprised: "No one believed me. I was ten years old when my grandfather died. I met him the night before his funeral. He told me that the pastor was sick and could not preside over his funeral the next day, so he asked me to contact another pastor. After I called the other pastor, his smile disappeared. Sure enough, the next day the pastor was sick and couldn't get up. Fortunately, another pastor came to preside over the funeral."
Liang Xi: "What a pity, didn't you ask him?"
Bobby asked, "What?"
Liang Xi: "The numbers for the next lottery draw."
"Fuck." Bobby threw an empty cup at Liang Xi, and the cup fell between them. Bobby said sadly, "No one wants to believe me. They even asked me if I had a high fever and asked me to do a brain MRI..."
"Pee." Liang Xi stood up and went to the bathroom.
Bobby demanded, "Do you have any common sense? Can't you wait for me to finish speaking?"
Liang Xi: "I was scared to pee my pants."
Liang Xi went into the bathroom, urinated, washed his hands, and stopped at the door: "When I get scared, I will subconsciously throw an uppercut."
"Haha." Bobby laughed dryly and left the door.
As expected, he was a swordsman. Liang Xi did not have the ability to see through things, so he did not know if there was anyone at the door. He just made up a random statement based on his own assumptions.
…
Time passed by, and the night rain came as expected. Only the second-floor corridor and the hall were lit. Bobby got into his sleeping bag and fell asleep, while Liang Xi casually lay on the wooden floor to rest.
The ancient church in the distance rang the early morning bell, and Bobby immediately came out of his sleeping bag and glanced at Liang Xi. Liang Xi opened his eyes, and Bobby made a gesture to keep quiet, and the two leaned against the wall and waited quietly.
"Squeak!" Ten minutes later, a sound of wood under pressure came from downstairs, and Liang Xi felt uneasy. There was no wooden floor on the first floor, but the second and third floors were all wooden floors. The sound obviously came from downstairs, and the only possibility was that something was stepping on the wooden stairs and making the sound. But it could not be ruled out that the wooden stairs made the sound due to thermal expansion and contraction.
A night breeze blew into the second-floor hall. Liang Xi looked at Bobby and pointed at the window: Did you open the window?
Bobby shook his head slowly, stood up and leaned against the hall, stretched his head to look into the corridor, and immediately retracted his head: "Something is coming in."
Liang Xi asked, "Can we talk now?"
Poppy scoffed and asked, "Do you think they're afraid of us?"
Liang Xi walked to Bobby and mustered up the courage to look into the corridor, only to see that the window at the end of the corridor was open. Liang Xi was shocked because he went to the bathroom once at 11 o'clock and the window was closed. Bobby had not left the second floor hall from 11 o'clock to just now. The only possibility was that someone opened the window with a long bucket.
Bobby looked serious and took out a small bagua made of unknown material from his bag. The workmanship was very crude. Bobby held the bagua in his hand, muttered something, and slowly walked to the corridor window and hung the bagua on a nail beside the window. Turning back and walking towards the hall, Bobby said, "I have blocked their retreat."
When Bobby walked back to the hall, there was a dull thud, as if someone was stepping on the wooden stairs, or something was dropped on the stairs. Liang Xi was 100% sure that it was definitely not a sound caused by thermal expansion and contraction.
The brave are invincible! Liang Xi ran downstairs and after reaching the first floor, he turned on the light according to the memory. The small living room on the first floor was empty. Liang Xi glanced upstairs and Bobby shook his head, indicating that he didn't want to go down.
Impossible, there can't be a ghost. Liang Xi took a deep breath, mustered up his courage, pushed open the kitchen door, and the kitchen was empty. The back door and windows were closed, Liang Xi took out a flashlight and shone it on the door handle. There was a piece of paper he had placed there, and the appearance, shape, and even the way it was placed had not changed at all, indicating that this door had never been opened.
Liang Xi pushed open the doors of the rooms on the first floor one by one, but the answer did not change. All Liang Xi saw were empty rooms.
Liang Xi soon determined that no one was hiding on the first floor.
Oh shit!
Liang Xi walked up the stairs and looked up to see Bobby holding a string of Buddhist beads and counting them. He looked at him with great love and said, "You will be its prey."
Liang Xi asked: "Where is it?"
Bobby said seriously, "It's right behind you."
Liang Ximeng turned around and there was no ghost...劇!
