Chapter 27 Confusion in the Heart
My cousin muttered a few words, and when he saw that I didn't answer, he suddenly said to me: "Xiaoyang, why don't you say anything?"
I replied, "I don't know what happened, but I just chased the animal and it disappeared."
My uncle looked at the time and found that it was already twelve o'clock. He said, "Why is it so late? We have to go back quickly . We can't let my master wait too long."
When I heard my uncle talking about his master, I couldn't help but ask, "Uncle, do you know who your master is?"
After hearing what I said, my cousin was stunned for a few seconds and seemed to be unable to come back to his senses.
After waiting for a few seconds, the uncle finally said, "Xiaoyang, why do you suddenly think of asking this?"
I was startled, and then I said, "Uncle, I'm just suddenly curious. Your master is so young, but he's so powerful. I'm really surprised."
My cousin's master looks to be about the same age as me, and his level of skills is beyond my expectations.
When my uncle heard what I said, he thought I was praising his master, and he immediately said with a smile: "Of course, my master is young, but his skills are admired by so many people. There were so many people who worshipped him as their master. If it weren't for my cleverness, I wouldn't have had the chance."
As my cousin continued talking, he started bragging again. I'm used to his temper.
So I didn't say much.
"Then do you know where your master is from?"
My uncle was confused for a few seconds and said, "I don't know about that."
"Why are you asking this all of a sudden? Is this important?"
"nothing."
I looked at my uncle who looked very confused. Even if I asked him now, it would probably be useless because he knew too little information.
As we walked forward, we originally thought that we would have to go a long way, after all, the process of chasing the fox took us almost an hour. But when we walked back, we found that we had only walked for about fifteen minutes.
It seems that I was confused by the fox in front of me for a long time.
When we arrived at the mountain god temple , the Taoist priest stood in front of the temple with his back to us. A gust of wind blew, and the Taoist priest's robe fluttered everywhere.
When my cousin saw the Taoist priest, he quickly stepped forward and called him "Master".
It was my cousin's shout that made the Taoist priest look back.
The Taoist priest looked at my uncle with a puzzled look in his eyes, and then asked, "Where did you go just now?"
My cousin said immediately, "Master, we didn't go anywhere. We just went to catch game."
I looked at the Taoist priest, trying to find some clues from his face, but no matter how I looked, I couldn't make out anything. The Taoist priest's emotions were calm, and he gave people the feeling that he was not someone of my age at all. His eyes were so deep that it was impossible to see through them.
"Catching game?"
"Yes, Master."
My cousin gave a naive answer.
The Taoist priest nodded softly, looking thoughtful. I didn't know what he was thinking about, but after a while, he shifted his attention to me.
Then I heard the Taoist priest say, "You went there just now too?"
I:"……"
I think what the Taoist said is basically nonsense. Since my cousin went there, I naturally went there too.
I hummed.
"Didn't I tell you to wait here? Why are you leaving so casually?"
The Taoist priest spoke to me in an unpleasant tone.
"this……"
"Your uncle came just now, but it's a pity that you are not here."
The Taoist priest suddenly said this, which instantly attracted the attention of my cousin and me.
My uncle quickly asked, "Master, did you really see my eldest cousin just now?"
"Um."
"My eldest cousin didn't say anything?"
My cousin continued to ask.
I was also very curious, but my doubts were similar to my cousin's. The questions my cousin asked were almost the same as what I was going to ask.
After waiting for a while, the Taoist priest said, "He didn't say anything."
I:……
My intuition told me that what the Taoist priest said to me was false.
How could my uncle show up and not say anything?
The uncle continued, "Master, the eldest cousin showed up here and said nothing, and you didn't stop him, did you?"
"Is the elder alive or dead now?"
I stared at the Taoist priest with some nervous eyes.
I really hope the Taoist priest can tell me some valuable information.
"A living person."
The Taoist priest replied.
When I heard the Taoist priest's answer, I suddenly became a little excited. I asked, "Really? Where is my uncle now?"
"Gone, I don't know."
The Taoist priest didn't seem to want to answer me and just walked straight down the mountain.
My cousin called the Taoist priest "Master", but the Taoist priest did not stop at all. Seeing this, my cousin hurried to catch up, and I also quickly followed .
We walked all the way down the mountain, but the Taoist priest didn't say anything, which really made me anxious.
But no matter how I asked, the Taoist priest said nothing.
In the end, I had no choice but to give up.
It is impossible for my uncle and the Taoist priest to meet without saying anything.
Did the Taoist priest do something to my uncle? He won't tell me?
What the fox said might be true.
All kinds of doubts kept coming up in my mind, but without the Taoist priest to answer me, or without my uncle's explanation, I would not have known the answers.
After asking for a while, the Taoist priest still didn't answer me and I had no choice.
When we returned home, the Taoist priest asked my uncle to take him back to the Taoist temple. Seeing this, I followed my uncle.
When I was about to ask in the car, the Taoist priest said to me: "Please let me be quiet for a while."
I was about to ask something, but my uncle suddenly coughed.
My cousin told me not to ask.
The car drove all the way to the Taoist temple. The Taoist priest got out of the car and walked towards the temple. After entering, my cousin quickly followed.
I followed behind him, but when we walked a few steps and reached the door, the Taoist priest did not let us in, but closed the door directly.
My cousin and I were turned away.
My cousin knocked on the door and called out "Master" several times.
But the Taoist priest ignored him.
I suddenly felt that there was something strange about the Taoist priest. After coming down from the mountain, he didn't talk much and acted mysterious.
I couldn't help but ask my uncle, "Uncle, could it be that we offended your master by leaving just now?"
My uncle was startled, then he said, "That shouldn't be the case. My master is a hermit and a great master. It's impossible for him to get angry over such a small matter."
What my cousin said does make sense.
Could it be that after the Taoist priest met my uncle, something unspeakable happened between them, so the Taoist priest remained silent.
At this point, I became more and more confused. I stood outside for a while, and then my uncle called me back.
But I said to my uncle, let’s not go back yet, let’s go in and take a look.
My uncle's face changed, and he suddenly said, "Xiaoyang, you don't want to..."
