Chapter 269 Big Brother Urges Marriage
Chi Xia slept very deeply, but he remembered something and woke up on time two hours later.
When she went downstairs, she saw Qu Bai and Ade serving the dishes. Qu Bai looked up at her and said, "You really picked the right time. You know it's time to eat."
Chi Xia smiled bitterly, "Just brush your teeth and then we'll have dinner!"
"Well, go ahead."
Chi Xia was walking towards the bathroom, but she stopped and said, "How about we watch a movie and eat at the same time?"
Qu Bai frowned visibly: "What movie?"
"A horror movie, of course."
Chi Xia said confidently: "I installed a projector and a screen, I can't let them go to waste, right?"
Qu Bai thought about it and said, "Okay."
Chi Xia brushed her teeth and came out. She turned on the projector and her phone, selected an old movie, and left only two lights on to set the mood. Then she rubbed her hands and walked to the dining table: "This is how you eat!"
"When did you develop this hobby?"
Qu Bai didn't know whether to laugh or cry. He scooped some soup for her and handed her the chopsticks: "Look at Ade."
Chi Xia went to see Ade and saw that he was staring at the screen with his eyes wide open, and it was obvious that he appreciated her behavior very much.
"Ade, do you also like watching horror movies?" Chi Xia asked.
Ade kept his eyes on the screen and nodded: "Yeah."
"This is a good habit." Chi Xia reached out to high-five him: "We can't ruin our delicious food, right?"
Ade nodded: "Yeah."
"Would you like to have a toast?"
Qu Bai had no choice but to pour drinks into the three people's cups: "If you don't eat the food, you will feel that you have been let down."
Chi Xia and Ade turned around at the same time, picked up their glasses and toasted.
"Really happy." Chi Xia put down the cup and asked Qu Bai: "Are you happy?"
"Of course I am happy."
She asked Ade again: "Are you happy?"
Ade was inexplicably a little shy: "Happy."
"No, no."
Chi Xia remembered something and stuffed a mouthful of food into his mouth. "How can I not record this moment? Wait for me."
She ran upstairs and came down quickly, holding a Polaroid camera in her hand and some photo paper in her arms: "Come on, let's take a photo!"
She brought out her cell phone and camera, and Ade and Qu Bai let her do whatever she wanted, asking them to hold the dishes, put their arms around each other's shoulders, and even make a scissors sign. When she was in a good mood, she even forced Ade to pout.
"No, I can't do that." Ade refused.
"I saw your mouth moving." Chi Xia laughed at him.
Qu Bai urged: "Ade, just let her do what she wants, or you won't be able to finish the meal."
Ade made a bitter face and did countless psychological preparations before finally showing off the pouting mouth he had just secretly practiced.
His mouth was a little stiff, his face was hot, and he asked Chi Xia expectantly: "Have you finished shooting...?"
"Okay."
Chi Xia handed him the developed photo: "Is he handsome?"
Ade looked at his delicate and artificial self in the photo. He originally wanted to say "hmm" with a cold face, but he couldn't help it. It completely went against his cold and aloof personality. He almost died from laughing.
Qu Bai watched them make enough noise with indulgence, and knocked on the table: "Now it's time to eat properly."
As if his Ren and Du meridians were opened, Ade whispered to Chi Xia: "The movie is overdone, change another one and start over."
Chi Xia agreed: "That makes sense."
After changing the movie, the three of them finally sat down and had their meal.
When Chi Xia just scooped a lion's head into the bowl, Qu Bai finally got the chance to ask: "When do you plan to marry Luo Xun? Have you met his parents? What is like? Is he good to you?"
Chi Xia almost choked: "I'm only dating for a few days and want to get married. We have to date for three to five years, right?"
Qu Bai couldn't help but smile: "Want to run long distance?"
Chi Xia nodded: "Anyway, I'm not in a hurry, and there are no aunts or uncles urging me."
Ade echoed: "That's right, no rush."
Chi Xia chuckled and asked tentatively, "Do I get anything when I get married...like a dowry?"
"No." Qu Bai said, "I don't have any money."
"Ade, he really didn't?"
Ade put down the bowl, looked seriously at Qu Bai and then at Chi Xia, and said very seriously: "No."
"That's fine."
Chi Xia said with a smile: "Go and earn some money now, otherwise don't expect me to support you in your old age."
"What if I really can't earn it?" Qu Bai asked her with a smile.
Chi Xia sneered: "Then take the wheelchair, go down the hill, understand?"
Qu Bai was confused: "What?"
Chi Xia shook her head and didn't tell him.
Qu Bai asked Ade: "What does she mean?"
Ade shook his head, but still expressed his guess: "It seems a bit threatening."
Chi Xia chuckled: "Hey, that's what I mean."
"Heartless."
Qu Bai cursed with a smile and handed the bowl over: "Before I sit on the wheelchair, give me a bowl of rice first."
Chi Xia didn't care at this moment. He got up obediently and went to the kitchen with the bowl.
While they were enjoying themselves watching the horror movie, Luo Xun finally found some free time, came out of the house, and stood outside to smoke a cigarette.
His head felt a little swollen and uncomfortable. He wanted to sleep but couldn't. He also didn't want to talk to anyone. Finally, he gave up contacting anyone, including Chi Xia.
When I took out a cigarette and was about to light it, Luo Weijun also came out.
"Dad." Luo Xun put away the cigarette and prepared to put it into the cigarette box.
Luo Weijun walked over lightly: "Give me one too."
"You don't smoke, do you?"
"Just because you don't smoke doesn't mean your dad won't."
Luo Weijun's eyes were a little red: "Your mother is asleep, let's talk."
Luo Xun handed him a cigarette and lit it. For a moment, neither the father nor the son spoke except for the smoke drifting away in the wind.
After finishing a cigarette, Luo Weijun patted Luo Xun on the shoulder and said, "Son, don't try to handle this by yourself. Mom and Dad are always here for you."
Having worked as a criminal policeman for so many years and having seen too many complex human natures, Luo Xun believes that he has a strong enough ability to withstand the pressure.
He was able to control his emotions even when he explained the truth to them, but when Luo Weijun said this, his nose felt sore and his throat choked.
"Yeah, I know," he said.
"You know what you know."
Luo Weijun sighed: "You think it's because of you that your sister got to know Zheng Yanbo, right?"
Luo Xun hummed in a depressed tone.
"You are stupid."
Luo Weijun frowned, "The problem is that it's essentially the bad guys who did the evil, not your careless mistake. We're going to meet a lot of people in this life, and who can guarantee that all the people we meet are good people? Why are you getting stuck in this dead end? You're torturing yourself in vain."
Luo Xun took a deep breath: "That's what I said, but I am..."
"But you just don't want to let yourself go?"
Luo Weijun said, "We as a family have to move on. It's fine until the truth comes out. Now that the case is clear, why do you want to put yourself in a new predicament? Life is short, and if you spend it all on regrets, what's the point of your life?"
Luo Xun took out two more cigarettes and handed one to Luo Weijun: "How is my mother?"
"Don't underestimate her weakness. Since she decided to come back, she won't let herself be trapped in the past. She knows you best and was afraid that you would think too much. She asked me to come and see you before going to bed. I didn't expect that you would be right."
Luo Xun pursed his lips: "Dad, there are no ifs in life, right?"
"Of course." Luo Weijun said, "So people have no choice but to look forward. Look at those who turned back. Which one of them is better off?"
“I just feel pretty scared.”
Luo Xun finally spoke out his true feelings: "I am scared to think about being betrayed by the people around me."
Luo Weijun put his arm around his son's shoulders and said, "That's a very small probability."
"But I encountered it with such a small probability."
"Understandable but unforgivable."
Luo Weijun said: "You know in your heart why he did that, and I know it too, but if he were by my side now, I would want to tear him into pieces, but Luo Xun, we can't be like him."
"I beat up Zheng Yanbo severely."
Luo Xun suddenly leaned on his father's shoulder, his voice choked with sobs: "But Dad, I can only beat him up."
“Living is torture.”
Luo Weijun stroked his son's back and said, "There is a time for them to repent and be afraid."
Luo Xun stopped talking. The grief, confusion, and torment he had hidden for ten years, as well as the anger and grievance after learning the truth, all surged out at this moment.
He cried uncontrollably on his father's shoulder.
Inside the house, Ling Nan heard his son's crying and finally breathed a sigh of relief.
She held the family photo in her arms and fell asleep in deep exhaustion and unbearable grief.
