Chapter 24: Weird He Min
I asked her what was going on?
Cheng Xiaoyan said that an hour ago, she and He Min were tired from chatting, so they went to bed to rest.
Unexpectedly, just now, He Min suddenly stood up from the bed, with his arms bent, as if holding something in his hands, and muttered to himself: "Good baby, go to sleep, don't make noise when you fall asleep, and when you wake up, you will have milk..."
"At first, I thought she was sleepwalking. I was just curious, but I didn't take it seriously... But when I secretly looked at her, I found that her eyes were actually open, and, and..."
"And what?"
"And her neck was tilted in a very strange posture, but her eyes were staring straight at me with a sneer on her face."
As Cheng Xiaoyan spoke, a hint of fear appeared on her face.
I frowned and thought that He Min was a little neurotic, but not a psychopath, right?
I comforted Cheng Xiaoyan and said that she might miss her children too much, so that’s why she behaved like this, and she should be more tolerant!
"This is not a question of responsibility!" Cheng Xiaoyan suddenly became excited, "You have no idea how weird that scene is - by the way, when she was hugging the air, I heard a baby crying!"
My eyes widened and I said, “Are you sure you heard it?”
"Absolutely! This is what I'm really afraid of!" Cheng Xiaoyan said tremblingly.
Something is unusual.
If He Min was just being crazy, then it wouldn't be a big deal...but what about hearing a baby crying?
For no reason, I thought of Ward 404!
Could this crying sound be related to 404?
I hesitated for a few seconds and decided to go over and take a look with Cheng Xiaoyan.
The two of us came to Ward 105, and we heard He Min's singing voice inside: "Good baby, go to sleep, don't make noise when you fall asleep, and when you wake up, you will have milk..."
When we opened the door, we saw He Min with her back to us, swaying from side to side as if she was holding a baby in her arms.
"He Min?"
I shouted.
The singing stopped abruptly.
She turned around, but did not twist her neck as Cheng Xiaoyan said.
"Doctor Tian, is there anything wrong?" He Min said expressionlessly.
"Um...what are you doing?" I looked at her and asked.
"Sing." He Min said.
"It's late at night, go to bed early." I laughed dryly and suddenly didn't know what to ask.
"oh."
He Min looked at Cheng Xiaoyan beside me with a dull look in her eyes and said, "Did I disturb you? I'm sorry. I have the habit of singing in the middle of the night. I won't do that anymore."
Cheng Xiaoyan frowned, but still didn't dare to go in.
I whispered to Cheng Xiaoyan: "Look, she's quite normal."
"But……"
Cheng Xiaoyan bit her lip and said, "But how do you explain the baby's crying?"
"It probably has nothing to do with her. It's most likely coming from the fourth floor." I blurted out.
"Fourth floor?"
I was shocked, wondering how I could have accidentally let it slip. I told her not to ask any more questions and to go to bed early.
It’s better to let as few people as possible know about 404’s affairs. After all, that ward… is too dangerous. I’m afraid Cheng Xiaoyan will become curious and want to go and find out what’s going on.
"I can not sleep."
Cheng Xiaoyan pouted.
I was a little confused: "What should I do?"
"Let's go out and chat. I really can't sleep."
I nodded, said sorry to He Min, and we walked out of Building D together.
It is now late at night. From time to time, unknown insects can be heard chirping on the big tree outside Building D. The moon in the sky looks like it is covered with a layer of gauze, which makes people feel inexplicably depressed.
"Zhiyong, are you hiding something from me?"
Cheng Xiaoyan suddenly said.
I was stunned, feeling somewhat guilty: "No, no."
"No, you must be hiding something from me!"
"In fact, when I came here, I had already prepared for the worst. I had no scruples. I was almost dead, so what else was there to be afraid of?"
"Zhiyong, tell me, I can see that you are hiding something!"
Cheng Xiaoyan said to me in a pleading tone.
I just couldn't bear to reject her.
Plus, I have been suppressing myself for too long these days. Seeing Cheng Xiaoyan asking, I gritted my teeth and said, "I told you, don't be afraid."
"Don't be afraid." Cheng Xiaoyan shook her head and forced a smile, "Don't forget, I'm a little gangster girl. I've seen all kinds of situations."
I took out a cigarette and lit it slowly.
Then, he told her everything about his first day working in Building D and all the strange things that had happened recently.
Even the four taboos of Building D were not concealed.
After saying that, I felt much better.
It feels like the garbage that has been piling up at home for a long time is suddenly cleared away by half, which makes me feel really comfortable.
"So, you came to work in Building D because of your mother's illness..." Cheng Xiaoyan looked at me with some regret and remorse in her eyes, "I used to disturb your sleep in class. Now I think it was really wrong."
I smiled and said, "It's nothing, actually. I've been working here for a few days and I've developed neurasthenia. I rarely fall asleep in the classroom."
"Then...let me ask you, are there really dirty things in this place?" Cheng Xiaoyan looked suddenly a little nervous.
I was silent.
This question is really difficult to answer.
"If you believe it, it exists. If you don't believe it, it doesn't exist...Xiaoyan, are you afraid?"
"No."
She shook her head. “I’m not even afraid of death now, so why should I be afraid of dirty things?”
I looked at her and secretly admired her.
Suddenly I felt that although Cheng Xiaoyan seemed ordinary, she was actually not ordinary compared to most people.
Just ask, how many people can be so calm in the face of death?
At least I can't.
"Zhiyong, what is that place? It looks spooky!"
Cheng Xiaoyan pointed in a certain direction and said.
I looked in the direction she pointed.
The dark red house has three floors. Bricks and tiles are piled together, with bumps all over the place. There are no windows and it can only be vaguely seen from the first floor. With the dim lights inside, it looks like a huge monster in the night.
“That’s the morgue,” I said.
Cheng Xiaoyan shuddered, and after a long while, she said faintly, "Will I live there after I die?"
"Don't talk nonsense, you won't die!" I frowned and thought it would be better to take her back to Building D to stop her from having wild thoughts.
Standing up and preparing to pull her away, Cheng Xiaoyan suddenly said, "Look at the door, there's a person standing there!"
"That's normal. He's the morgue's caretaker. I know him. His name is Master Ma. He..."
I suddenly couldn't continue speaking.
His eyes suddenly widened.
Because I also saw the figure at the door of the morgue...
It's not Master Ma...
It was a very familiar yet strange face!!
He stood there motionless, his eyes as sharp as knives, full of resentment, looking at me coldly.
I shuddered and the blood in my body almost froze!!
This person is actually Liu Bin!
