Chapter 24 It's Wrong
The two Boers were named Padbeck and Sukobuik, which mean horse's mouth and beer belly respectively in Dutch. Rock didn't know why they had such strange names. Many Dutch people have strange names.
According to the records of the Cape Town Police Department, Horse's Mouth was charged with theft and Beer Belly was charged with causing a disturbance and assault. They were not serving their sentences on Robben Island, but were thrown into a nearby mine to mine, so they were able to survive to the end of their sentences.
"Padebaek, Sukobuik, do you know why you are here?" Rock sat down on the only chair in the interrogation room, looking at the horse's mouth and beer belly with interest.
Horse's Mouth and Beer Belly were tied to the pillars in the interrogation room. Both of them had terrified expressions. The two poor guys didn't know what was going on. They looked at Rock in a daze and shook their heads.
"You must be aware of the recent attacks on police officers around Tuis . I want to know who did it. Do you have anything to say about this?" Rock lit a cigar and took a puff into his lungs out of habit. He immediately realized that something was wrong. Cigars should not be taken into the lungs.
"I don't know, sir. It wasn't me." Beer Belly was sweating profusely, the iron on the stove next to him was already red, the whip was soaked in a bucket of salt water, the burly Tang En, with his bare chest, looked at Ma Zui and Beer Belly with a vicious smile and malicious intent, the neatly dressed Li De was busy making coffee, but it was obviously not prepared for Ma Zui and Beer Belly.
"Sir, I don't even dare to hit a woman, let alone attack a police officer." Ma Zui's legs were as thin as a sieve. He had never experienced torture and didn't know how cruel it was. He had felt all of this when he was imprisoned, and he still remembers it vividly in his dreams at midnight.
"Do you know who is related to this matter?" Rock didn't expect to solve the case immediately. If Horse Mouth and Beer Belly were rioters, they would not be captured by Sharma so easily. Rock only hoped to get some information, even if it could narrow the scope.
"I don't know." This time Horse's Mouth and Beer Belly said in unison.
"Don't know?" Rock didn't believe that they didn't know anything. The Boers these days didn't have a strong anti-reconnaissance awareness. If the crime was committed by outsiders, the cooperation of local Boers would be needed. Horse Mouth and Beer Belly were local tyrants carefully selected by Rock. They might not have the courage to attack the police, but if someone dared to attack the police, then they must know something.
"I really don't know." Ma Zui blurted out, but Beer Belly was a little hesitant.
"Very good." Rock stopped talking nonsense and pointed at his beer belly. Tang En immediately came over with a whip in his hand and a grin on his face.
"Hurry up and tell me about Sukobuik. If you know, you will kill us if you don't tell us." Ma Zui yelled frantically. No one knew what these black-hearted guys put into the bucket. There was actually some red unknown liquid dripping on the whip. This cowhide woven whip had steel spikes on it, and one whip could take half a person's life.
"I'm not sure, and I don't know if it's them. There are a few strangers living in Nick's house, and I've never seen them before." The beer belly was so scared that his voice broke, and a large spot on his pants was wet.
"Where does Nick live? Take me there." Rock was overjoyed. No matter who it was, he would catch the man first.
After reporting to Henry, Rock assembled the commando team. A total of eighteen people, including Beer Belly, took two four-wheeled carriages to Nick's house. Before entering Tuis , Rock ordered the carriages to stop and arrange the tasks. Anton led a team to surround Nick's house, and Rock led a team to be responsible for the assault. All of them had bullets loaded. If they encountered resistance, there was no need to fire warning shots, they could just shoot to kill. Rock also wanted to capture them alive, but that might cause casualties. There were too few Chinese police officers, and Rock was reluctant to do so.
Nick's home is located on Lawrence Street in the Tuis District. It is a two-story wooden building with an attic and two doors in the front and back. The attic can be used for observation from the outside. It is not easy to approach silently. In fact, it should be easier to approach if the arrest is carried out at night, but it is also easier for those people to escape at night. Rock decided to act immediately. If anyone dared to escape, he would just shoot them to death.
This was not Rock's request, but Henry's request. Henry only wanted the result, or in other words, Henry just wanted to get the job done. Even if it was an accidental killing, it was still an achievement. After all, the dead can't speak.
Entering Lawrence Street, there are not many pedestrians on the street. Occasionally, there are people walking hurriedly, but they are basically old people or women and children. There are almost no young and middle-aged people. This is the norm in the Tuis district. As a gathering place for Boers, the Tuis district is a high-incidence area for vicious crimes. Many young and middle-aged people were either arrested and sent to concentration camps or fled to the Transvaal Republic and the Orange Free State.
The carriage stopped at an intersection about fifty meters away from Nick's house. Rock pulled out his pistol, jumped off the carriage first, and approached Nick's house with the cover of the buildings on the street.
“Here they come!”
Less than twenty meters away from Nick's house, Rock and his friends were discovered. There was indeed someone on guard in the attic.
"Go! Go! Go in!"
Rock didn't hesitate, he roared and accelerated.
Bang!
There were gunshots behind the house, probably from Anton who was in charge of the encirclement. Then someone screamed, probably someone was shot. It was not known whether it was a policeman or someone trying to escape.
Bang!
Rock kicked the door to pieces, and with the cover of the wall, he aimed his gun into the room. There were five or six pieces of gold scattered on the floor. There were about four or five people, all in a mess. When they saw Rock kicking the door to pieces, one of them reached for his waist, and Rock pulled the trigger without hesitation.
Bang!
The gunshot was deafening, and the man who was hit fell down like a wooden stake. There was a radial bloodstain as big as a plate on the wall behind him. The Webley revolver was indeed powerful.
When the gunshot was heard, the other people seemed to be stunned, staring at Rock blankly without any movement.
Bang!
Rock was a little impulsive. In a moment, his adrenaline was secreted too much, his brain was a little dizzy, and he fired again uncontrollably. Another person was knocked down, and the others woke up as if from a dream and knelt on the ground.
It doesn't seem right. If they were rioters, they wouldn't surrender so easily.
But he was definitely not a good person, otherwise he would have run away when he saw the police and would not have left someone on guard in the attic.
"Don't move!"
“Kneel down!”
"Put your hands where I can see them!"
Li De and Tang En rushed in at this time. It was not because Li De and Tang En were slow, but because Rock was too fast.
"Hiss, Locke, if that kick of yours had hit someone, that person would have been killed!" After everything had settled, Anton sighed as he looked at the broken door.
Rock didn't know why his strength had become so great. He had tried it before, and he could kick open a door of average strength, but he had never been able to kick a solid wooden door into pieces with one kick.
"Master Luo, you are wrong. They are smugglers, not rebels." Li De got the confession. There were six people in the room. They were not rebels, but smugglers who smuggled gold .
