Chapter 23 The Dance Begins
After closing the book in her hand, Shalan said to Yiwen, "Yiwen, I'm going to the dance now. See you tomorrow."
Looking up at Shalan, Yiwen nodded and said, "Okay, see you tomorrow. Just put these books here. I will put them back to their original places later. Go home and change your clothes."
Shalan nodded, thanked him, and left with her schoolbag somewhat reluctantly.
After Shalan left, Yiwen continued to lower her head and read the book, but slowly her brows began to frown. The calm state of reading disappeared, and instead, she felt a faint sense of irritation in her heart, making it impossible for Yiwen to concentrate.
Putting down the "Epic of Roma" in her hand and sighing, Yiwen simply stopped reading and walked out of Howard Library to the snack street behind to find something to eat for dinner. Although it was a bit early for dinner, Yiwen couldn't concentrate on reading and had nothing else to do. She needed to find something to kill time.
However, when Yi Wen was strolling in the snack street, the memory of her and Sha Lan strolling and eating in this snack street kept coming to her mind.
Standing there and watching the people coming and going, Yiwen seemed to have made a decision and said softly, "Grandpa Rhodes."
Just as he finished speaking, a tall, kind-faced old man suddenly appeared behind Yi Wen, but he did not disturb the passers-by nearby, which looked quite magical.
"Miss, do you need a dress?"
Yiwen blushed slightly, nodded gently, turned around and said to Rhodes, "Grandpa Rhodes, can we go in to the dance?"
"Three days ago, Viscount Fred, the mayor of Cynthia City, sent me an invitation to go there. I didn't answer him. If you want to go, you can attend the ball."
With a smile on her face, Iwen said, "Well, Grandpa Rhodes, let's go change into our dresses now. I haven't attended a ball for a long time. And I don't have much idea about The Epic of Roma recently, so it's nice to go to the ball and relax for a while."
"Yes, miss."
As soon as she finished speaking, Yiwen reached out and hugged Rhodes' arm. The two of them quickly left the snack street and went somewhere unknown.
…
Shalan put on the fifth dress, walked in front of the mirror, turned to Rowena and said, "Teacher Rowena, is this dress ok?"
Rowena came here today as a clothing consultant. Although many nobles, wealthy businessmen, and official families in Cynthia City invited her to be a clothing consultant, as the largest noble in Cynthia City and an important official of the kingdom, Count Rawl-Werman's reputation is naturally much greater than those people, so Rowena naturally knows how to choose.
After circling around Sharan a few times, Rowena nodded slowly, expressing her approval of Sharan's taste.
He reached out and took out a pure black bow tie from the cloakroom, replaced the brown bow tie on Shalan's neck, and helped Shalan change her leather shoes into pure black ones. Then he nodded and said with satisfaction: "Master Shalan, this is enough . I can guarantee that you will be able to charm many girls tonight."
Looking in the mirror at his hairstyle that had been fiddled with by Rowena for an hour, Shalan finally breathed a sigh of relief. He felt that this preparation process was more troublesome than robbing tombs in his previous life.
"Shalan, are you ready?"
Roll brought Vanessa and Shaman, who were dressed up, to the door of the cloakroom. Looking at his eldest son, who was dressed up, a smile appeared on his face. It was obvious that he was very satisfied with Shalan's appearance.
"Father, I'm ready and can go now."
The dance starts at seven o'clock, and it's almost six o'clock now. An hour is not a lot of time, but it can be said that it is not rushed, so it is time to set off now.
Luo Er nodded and said to Rowena, "Ms. Rowena, you have helped our Werman family a lot, so the Werman family will naturally not treat you unfairly."
Hearing this, Rowena smiled and nodded, saying, "Thank you, Lord Earl. It's my honor."
After saying that, Luo Er and the others said goodbye to Rowena, left the manor, got into three cars one after another, and drove towards Cynthia's mansion where the ball was held.
As the largest mansion in Cynthia City, many nobles choose to hold their balls here, in addition to their own estates. The balls held in Cynthia Mansion are less private and more public. Depending on the purpose of the ball, the place chosen is also different.
The ball was attended by nobles, wealthy businessmen, and officials from the entire city, so the treatment was naturally different. Along the way, Shalan could see many traffic police maintaining road order, and a special lane was reserved for vehicles attending the ball. This allowed Shalan to see the privileges of the upper class in this world. As for their Werman family, they were the privileged class among the privileged class in Cynthia City.
As the cars of the rich, minor nobles, and minor officials gave way, the three cars of the Werman family overtook those parked on the side and came straight to the red carpet in front of the gate of Cynthia's mansion.
As Count Werman, Roll was the first to get out of the car hand in hand with Vanessa and walked onto the red carpet. Following him was Sharan, the future heir to the title, who stood on Roll's left. Then Sharman, who got out of the third car, stood on Vanessa's right.
Roll raised his left hand and waved to the reporters and onlookers nearby, then he and Vanessa, along with Shalan and Shaman, entered Cynthia Mansion.
When Luo Er walked onto the red carpet, many people immediately came to greet him. However, only those with sufficient status were qualified to come and talk to Luo Er, while those with insufficient status could only stand not far away and smile apologetically.
After entering the ballroom, Shallan said something to Luo Er, turned around and walked to the side of the ballroom, picked up a glass of champagne and sat on a chair at the side of the ballroom.
For Shalan, this kind of upper-class social occasion was simply a torture. If he had to consider the reputation of the Werman family, he would have wanted to lie down on the chair.
After drinking half a glass of champagne, Shalan was just about to get up and stretch her body when she suddenly heard a low commotion. Turning around, she saw Viscount Fred, the mayor of Cynthia, humbly guiding a tall old man and a young girl in a fancy dress into the ballroom.
At this time, the girl happened to look in the direction of Shalan. When their eyes met, the girl blinked at Shalan. Her eyes, as deep and green as lake water, instantly immersed Shalan in them.
