Chapter 23 A Pot of Dog Meat

After putting away his phone, Han Yun glanced at the blackboard again, then turned and walked out of the studio. After a quick wash and changing into pajamas, he went straight to the bedroom, took down the bedding from the bed, spread it on the floor between the wall and the bed, and lay down.
The narrow space makes Han Yun feel safer.
Lying in the air, he thought over all the investigations of the day in his mind before falling asleep.
In Qin Xiang's dream world, there was a small wooden house in front of him. In the middle of the house was a low table, on which was a pot, and next to it was a small gas tank. The pot was covered, and it was bubbling and steaming. Qin Xiang sat cross-legged on the ground, and opposite him was the hunter who helped him drive away the wild dogs. The hunter kept staring at the pot.
Qin Xiang stood up, walked to the door and looked outside.
Outside was a forest. The wooden house was a temporary residence built in the forest. His chest, where was aching. He turned his head again and looked at the hunter. The hunter spoke in a low and rough voice: "There are no wolves or snakes in this forest. These wild dogs are the most deadly. I don't know where those wild dogs came from. They gathered in large numbers, in gangs, and bite anyone they see."
"Thank you for saving me." Qin Xiang covered the wound with one hand and said weakly.
"I went to kill the dog, not to save you." The hunter stared at the pot in front of him and said. Qin Xiang looked at the axe in front of the wooden house and a large pool of blood. Just now, he saw the hunter burn the wild dog's fur with a musket and chop off the wild dog's head, claws, body and tail with an axe. He could still smell the blood.

The hunter's body was stained with the blood of the wild dog. He licked the blood off his hands nonchalantly. In the pot on the low table was stewing the wild dog that had been cut into pieces and had knocked down Qin Xiang.
Qin Xiang sat back at the table. The hunter opened the lid and sniffed, closing his eyes with a satisfied look. Then he took out two sets of bowls and chopsticks from under the table, and gave one set to Qin Xiang. The hunter opened a bottle of Erguotou, poured it into the wine glass , and used chopsticks to stir the pot, picked out a large piece of meat, put it in Qin Xiang's bowl and said, "Dog meat was called fragrant meat in ancient times. Eat a bite, it's delicious."
The large piece of dog meat in the bowl made Qin Xiang feel nauseous. The hunter sitting opposite him also put a piece into his bowl, tore off a large piece, and ate it happily. Qin Xiang watched the hunter eat, and his stomach growled. He mustered up his courage, picked up the dog meat with his hands, smelled it first, and then opened his mouth and took a big bite.
Qin Xiang couldn't stop eating after tasting the meat. The hunter laughed at Qin Xiang's eating and took a sip of wine. Qin Xiang also ate while grinning. Soon, his stomach was swollen and he couldn't eat anything anymore. Qin Xiang leaned back and touched his swollen stomach. The drunk hunter opposite him also imitated him, touched his stomach and said: "This wild dog originally wanted to eat your meat, but now we are eating his meat."
"You live here?" Qin Xiang looked at the shotgun standing by the door and asked thoughtfully.
"If I lived here for a long time, I would have killed all the wild dogs in the forest long ago." The hunter took another sip of wine and said, "I only come here when I want to eat them."
"Can that shotgun kill people?" Qin Xiang still stared at the shotgun.
The hunter was slightly startled when he heard what Qin Xiang said, then he stood up, picked up the hunting rifle, pointed it at Qin Xiang, and put a finger on the hook of the gun: "As long as I hook this finger down, a hole will be made in your head and your brain will spurt out. Do you think it can kill people?"
Qin Xiang stared at the gun barrel, his face full of fear, breathing heavily. The hunter laughed, put down his gun, sat back at the table, and continued to eat dog meat and drink white wine. When the hunter finished eating, it was already very late. He did not deal with the remaining dog meat, but fell asleep. Qin Xiang curled up in the corner, his eyes still fixed on the hunting rifle.
The candles in the room gradually burned out until they were completely extinguished. The cabin instantly became dark. The hunter was snoring loudly. Outside, there was the sound of the wind and the rustling of leaves. Occasionally, the growls of wild dogs could be heard in the distance.
This night seemed particularly long, not only for Qin Xiang, but also for Han Yun.
Han Yun, who was sleeping, could perhaps particularly understand Qin Xiang's mood at this moment in the dream. His brows were tightly furrowed, and his whole body curled up. The dream did not stop, it just changed the scene.
It was still a forest. The sky in the dream was bright. Qin Xiang was lying in the grass, squinting one eye to aim. He held the hunting rifle in his hand. Not far away, Qin Xiang was aiming at people instead of wild dogs. In the open space, there was a couple, sitting on the carpet, with fruits and drinks beside them. They were talking and laughing.
Qin Xiang was aiming at that man.
The shotgun was pointed at the man's head, but the man didn't notice anything and was still immersed in his love affair. Qin Xiang stretched out his finger and held the hook of the gun, and then a gunshot rang out in the forest.
With the sound of the gunshot, Han Yun, who was already sweating profusely, woke up instantly and sat up, breathing heavily. After a long time to calm down, he got up and went directly to the bathroom, filled the fish tank with water, and while taking a bath, he drew the scene of the wooden house and the image of the couple on the tablet.
It's already daybreak.
After taking a bath, Han Yun changed his clothes, folded the quilt and put it on the bed. Just as he was about to make some breakfast, the doorbell rang. He walked to the door and opened it. Yu Miaomiao was standing outside the door, holding breakfast in her hand and said, "I don't know what you like to eat, so I bought a little bit of everything."
After entering the house and coming to the dining table, Yu Miaomiao opened all the breakfast items, more than a dozen in total, and bought four or five kinds of porridge. Looking at the table of breakfast, Han Yun was a little helpless: "Buying breakfast is not your job, don't do this in the future."
"By the way, I also brought it to Team Leader Li and the others before." Yu Miaomiao sat down.
Han Yun went to the kitchen to get bowls and chopsticks and handed a set to Yu Miaomiao. But Yu Miaomiao pushed it aside and said with a smile, "I've eaten, these are for you."
"Has Li Tieyun found the old factory? Is that the scene of Bai Jing's first murder?" Han Yun opened one of the bowls of porridge at random, picked up the spoon and took two sips.
"We found it. You guessed it right. It was indeed the first murder scene. Bai Jing's limbs were cut off there." Yu Miaomiao seemed a little nervous. She sat very straight on the chair. "Team Leader Li went there with someone last night. We found a chainsaw and a chair where people were tied up. We have taken them back for identification. It's almost certain that the blood on the chair belongs to Bai Jing."
