Chapter 20 Family Letters
After the Lantern Festival, senior year officially begins.
As soon as Xing Cheng got out of school, he ran into the community. Before going upstairs, he lay down by the window of Ning Xi's bedroom and threw things inside.
Ning Xi was sitting there writing. When he looked up, he saw a school uniform keychain thrown on the table. Just as he was about to stretch his neck to take a look, Xing Cheng popped his head out from the window and raised his eyebrows and said, "Take it and put your key on it."
"Isn't this the keychain for our school uniform?" Ning Xi looked at it for a long time and liked it a little.
"Yes, we are about to graduate. This thing is very popular in various schools. Each school has a different one. I asked Ren Mei to bring two. You can take one."
"Aren't you bored?"
Ning Xi said this, but still took out his own key. After he finished, Xing Cheng snatched it away and looked at it, which made him laugh.
Xing Cheng is like this. No matter how much he pretends to be calm occasionally, he is still a big boy in front of him.
Ning Xi suddenly remembered that Xingcheng and his friends had just finished their Chinese test, so he asked, "How did you feel about the test this morning?"
"The title of this composition is "Discovering Beauty in Life", and my opening is particularly good."
"How is it written?"
After Ning Xi finished speaking, Xing Cheng looked at the window and tried to climb in with his elbows. Ning Xi reached out and hit him: "Go through the front door!"
Xing Cheng withdrew his hand and did not dare to force it, but he kept talking: "My brother's surname is Ning, his given name is Xi, he lives in Qingyang District, Chengdu, he is the top student in Shiwen, he is known as the pretty school principal, he looks thin when he is dressed, and has a nice figure when he is undressed, he likes basketball, and he loves..."
Ning Xi wanted to reach out and pull a strand of Xing Cheng's hair out and stuff it into his mouth to shut him up: "Did you really write that?"
When he heard Ning Xi ask this, he didn't say anything. He looked around and saw that there was no one around. He lifted the curtain, climbed through the window and jumped in.
Xing Cheng pulled the curtains and tilted his head back: "I would dare to write like this in the college entrance examination if I lie down!"
Ning Xi knew how arrogant he was: "Your literary talent..."
Forget it.
The time after the New Year passed quickly. Ning Xi had to return to school a few days early because of a study project. After buying the train ticket, he went to pick it up and kept it in his pocket, as if he could only feel at ease by looking at the paper version.
He and Xingcheng spent several nights driving two shared bicycles, riding all the way from Chengdu's South Gate to the West Gate, and then taking the bus back.
The two thought of the pink sky in high school and made a wish together that they could see it again.
After the Spring Festival, people become busy. Walking in the downtown area, crowds of people come one after another. They are squeezed in the crowd, and their shoulders keep bumping and separating.
At night, the street lights on Binjiang East Road came on again. Ning Xi rode his bicycle past, looking at the ginkgo leaves that fell all over the ground on both sides of the city road. He counted one, two, three, and four leaves, and arrived at the entrance of Shizhong. He looked for his most eye-catching leaf among the crowd of younger classmates.
On the morning Ning Xi left, Xing Cheng had to go to school and couldn't see her off. He got up in the early morning and went into Ning Xi's bedroom. He felt sleepy and went back to sleep.
His breathing was long and gentle, like the spring breeze blowing over the Funan River.
Xing Cheng couldn't sleep all night. He sat at the desk and stared at Ning Xi. It wasn't until dawn that the school training team blew the horn again. He slowly got up and packed up...
Then slowly said goodbye to Ning Xi who was sleeping.
Chengdu East Station was still crowded that afternoon, just like the day Ning Xi arrived. No one knew each other, but they were all running in the same direction.
Ning Xi held the ticket in his hand, said goodbye to Xing Cheng's parents who came to see him off, and then swiped his ID card to enter the country.
The journey was long and the scenery outside the window was ever-changing. Ning Xi was just about to open his schoolbag to read a book when he found a letter wrapped in a big red envelope.
Seal the mouth with a ginkgo leaf pinned on it using a paper clip.
It was a large piece of A4 printed paper with black text on a white background. There were no signs of modification, and it was marked and highlighted with a red pen.
I think Xingcheng must have copied it and used a ruler to compare it with the text. There are no horizontal lines and it is not crooked at all.
Xing Cheng is not a man of great literary talent, and he usually likes to talk nonsense, but most of his words are sincere and true, spoken entirely from the heart, without any falseness.
Ning Xi recalled the first time he received a letter from Xing Cheng. At that time, it was still popular to write on stationery or stickers. Xing Cheng wrote a guide to the Yu-Gi-Oh cards. It was crooked and not even a word could be seen clearly.
Xing Cheng was only nine years old at that time, and his first words were "Reading the letter is like reading me, I'm so fine." Ning Xi taught him with a dark face, "Reading the letter is like seeing me in person, I'm fine."
Although he has grown up, Ning Xi still doesn't expect Xing Cheng to be able to write an opening like "Zhan Xinjia", but when he saw the first line of words clearly, his heart still skipped a beat.
Ning Xi unfolded the letter, which was very long.
He lowered his head, held his breath, and began to read word by word.
Ning Xi:
I'm glad to hear from you. I'm fine.
I have been thinking about writing to you for a long time.
You write hesitantly, delete and revise, and before you have time to finish the draft, you are gone.
It's five o'clock in the morning and you are sleeping soundly.
This is the night before you leave.
So, forgive me for not being able to fall asleep with you tonight.
There are so many things I want to tell you, but this piece of paper is not enough to write them all. It would be great if the college entrance examination essay was "Written to You", then my mind would not be so blank anymore.
I have poor grades, always get into fights, have a bad temper, am too handsome, and have many shortcomings.
The biggest advantage is that I am protected by you.
You are sensible, while I am reckless. Thank you for not letting anyone and nothing stand between you and me, and thank you for tolerating my childishness.
I used to want to be your wristband, then I wanted to be your sneakers to bear your weight, and now I want to be your jacket to protect this world with you forever.
You are three years older than me, and I am six centimeters taller than you, so I am 187 centimeters tall, really.
We are not inferior in any way, we are evenly matched.
With you, the number of time is rigid, only the length of life can be measured.
Sixteen years have passed like the same day.
I will always be in awe of the tomorrow I face with you.
I am very grateful to you.
The letter was written in a hurry, the introduction is incoherent, the logic is confusing, and the language is poor. Brother, please read it patiently.
I checked the weather forecast and it says it will rain in Beijing in the next few days. Remember to bring an umbrella and be careful on the road. Definitely!
A reunion that is hard-earned is even more precious.
So, I’m not afraid.
No more talking, I’m going to training.
I don't like basketball.

At the upstairs window
After reading it, Ning Xi was surprised to realize that he had left the border of Sichuan and the train was taking him into another unfamiliar province or city.
At the foot of the letter, Xing Cheng scribbled and scribbled, and then neatly left the last line: "Ning Xi, I will always write to you, because this life is not over yet."
