Chapter 2: You Really Won't Like Me? 1
I casually mentioned that I wanted to go to school that day, and Wen Jinliang helped me complete the admission procedures in just a few days, and he was also very thoughtful and put me in the same class with him.
In the days before school started, I stood outside the classroom as a bodyguard and watched them attend classes. Now I can finally sit next to Wen Jinliang and attend classes with him openly.
The seat next to Wen Jinliang has always been the target of all the girls. On my first day, I ignored everyone and sat down. They all seemed stunned.
Wen Jinliang looked at me and smiled: "From now on, all the seats next to me will be yours, so don't let others take them."
When I heard Wen Jinliang say this, I immediately said, "Don't worry, I won't let anyone suspicious sit next to you." I haven't forgotten why I came here.
After hearing what Wen Jinliang and I said, the girls' expressions changed. A few girls walked towards me with menacing looks, while the rest of the girls looked at me silently and did not act rashly.
"Hey! I'm talking to you!" the leading girl pointed at me and shouted.
I looked up at her and asked, "What's the matter?"
"Who allowed you to sit in this seat? Get up!" The leading girl looked at me and said bluntly.
"Can't you choose your seat at will? Why do I need others' permission to sit here? You are so weird. Also, don't order me around. You are not qualified and you don't deserve it." I looked at the girl in front of me and said expressionlessly.
In this world, only my master has the right to make me get up, but of course I won’t say this out loud.
"You! You..." When the girl in the lead heard what I said, her face changed with anger. The finger she was pointing at me kept shaking, but she couldn't say a complete sentence.
"You're shaking so badly, and your face is so red." I looked at the trembling, red-faced girl in front of me, and suddenly I realized, "Xiao Wu said there is a disease that can make people shake constantly and turn red. If you encounter this situation, you have to--" I stood up and knocked the girl unconscious, "Knock her out!"
The classroom suddenly became quiet, and the girls stared at me in horror. Wen Jinliang was stunned for a moment, holding his chin and asked me, "Xiao Qi, why did you knock her out?"
"To prevent her from getting sick." I picked up the girl with one hand and put her in the seat before answering Wen Jinliang's question.
"Illness?" Wen Jinliang asked with some confusion.
"Yes, the condition she was in just now clearly indicated that she had contracted a very dangerous disease. This disease causes shaking at first, then blushing. Finally, she will scream and go crazy, and in serious cases, she will lose control and hit people. So I had to knock her out quickly before she screamed, it would be bad if she hurt you." I explained patiently.
Wen Jinliang was silent for a moment, but couldn't help asking, "Xiao Qi, who told you that she was in this state?"
"Xiao Wu," I answered quickly, then I remembered that Wen Jinliang didn't know Xiao Wu, so I added, "She's my older sister. She's been taking care of me since I can remember."
After hearing what I said, Wen Jinliang couldn't hold back any longer and burst out laughing: "Xiao Qi, you are so gullible. You believe such nonsense."
"Are you saying Xiaowu lied to me?" I walked back to Wen Jinliang and asked in disbelief.
"This is not a disease at all. It's just a sign of anger." Wen Jinliang said with a smile, "Although knocking someone unconscious is a bit rough, your sister is right to use this method to deal with angry people."
I listened to Wen Jinliang's words in a daze, and asked back, "So it was right for me to listen to Xiaowu and knock her out?"
"The current situation is correct." Wen Jinliang's eyes swept across the sleeping girl and he smiled calmly.
"Oh, that's good." Hearing that I did nothing wrong, I immediately felt relieved and no longer felt resentful about Xiaowu's deception.
However, at that moment, I suddenly realized that in my heart, I trusted Wen Jinliang more than Xiaowu, who was as close as a sister to me. I did not question his words at all, but instead suspected that Xiaowu was lying to me.
My heart suddenly sank. Has Wen Jinliang become so important in my heart without me realizing it?
"Ding Ling——"
The bell for class broke the awkward atmosphere in time, and the girls returned to their seats. But even if the class wasn't going to start, my behavior just now probably made them dare not do anything to me again.
I sat back next to Wen Jinliang, and he said to me softly, "You must have a lot of things you don't understand on your first day of class. I will teach you carefully, don't worry about not being able to keep up."
I nodded gently to Wen Jinliang: "Well, thank you..."
"Why are you so polite all of a sudden?" Wen Jinliang raised his lips and chuckled.
I lowered my head slightly and said calmly, "Really? I still treat you the same as before."
Wen Jinliang half-closed his eyes and smiled gently: "Yes, Xiaoqi treats me the same as before, and I am the same."
Listening to Wen Jinliang's words, my heart was suddenly moved, and I looked at him with a smile: "I have written down your words, I will not forget them, and you can't forget them either."
"I won't forget it." Wen Jinliang vowed. Then he and I stopped talking and listened to the class carefully.
The day's classes ended quickly. Wen Jinliang took great care of me that day, and was even gentler than usual.
After school, Wen Jinliang and I habitually walked to where we lived, but Wen Jinliang told me: "He has prepared a new place for me to live. The previous one is just a temporary residence. We don't need to go there anymore."
Without thinking too much, I nodded and said, "Okay, let's go to the new residence." After that, I walked towards the new residence with him.
The new residence is on the east side of the campus. It is full of greenery and very quiet. The new residence is a two-story small suite. The first floor is completely empty. The second floor has two rooms and a kitchen, and a small living room in the middle. Compared with the previous luxurious temporary residence, this place is obviously much simpler.
Wen Jinliang opened the doors of the two rooms and took a quick look. One was the bedroom and the other was the study. Then he smiled and said to He, "You've prepared well. Thank you for your hard work."
"Yeah." He responded casually and turned his gaze to me, "Jinliang also asked me to arrange a new place for you to live."
I asked, "A new place? Don't I live here?"
"Well, this place is for me to live alone." It was Wen Jinliang who answered.
"I don't live here, then where do I live?" I was stunned.
"You have officially enrolled, so of course you will live in the girls' dormitory." Wen Jinliang replied.
"But I'm your personal bodyguard, I want to protect you! How can I be separated from you?" I was a little anxious.
"We're just separated when we sleep, but we're still together during the day, so it doesn't matter." Wen Jinliang replied with a smile.
I grabbed Wen Jinliang's arm tightly and said seriously, "No! I will always be by your side to protect you. Please let me live with you."
Wen Jinliang was stunned for a moment: "Xiao Qi, don't worry. I'm very safe here."
I still didn't want to give up, and continued, "No! I don't want to live anywhere else. I'm your bodyguard, what's wrong with staying with you all the time? Why do you want me to live somewhere else? I don't want to."
"Xiao Qi." Wen Jinliang looked at me with a smile, his eyes slightly cold, "Be obedient."
I let go of Wen Jinliang's hand and calmed down.
The moment Wen Jinliang called my name, I was acutely aware of his change in mood. Although his tone was as gentle as always, the look in his eyes when he looked at me was completely different.
"Wen Jinliang, just let me live with you." Finally, I couldn't help but speak.
When Wen Jinliang heard what I said, his expression gradually turned cold. He looked at me and smiled gently, his tone carrying an inexplicable distance: "Xiao Qi, I don't want to repeat what I said. Go with He to your own residence."
I stared at Wen Jinliang blankly, with a bitter taste in my heart. I exhaled slowly and replied, "I know."
Since he doesn't want to, I definitely can't make it difficult for him. Although we can't live together openly, I can stay by his side secretly, I made a wishful calculation in my mind.
After hearing my answer, Wen Jinliang immediately asked He to take me to my new residence. Although it was a female dormitory, I was actually the only one living there. Wen Jinliang asked the school to vacate this small apartment for me. It was also a little far from Wen Jinliang's apartment.
"He." I called out to He who was about to leave.
"What's wrong?" He looked back at me.
"Did I make Wen Jinliang angry just now?" I asked helplessly with my head down.
"Why do you ask?" He asked back, walking back to the sofa in front of me and sitting down.
"When I insisted on living with him, his mood obviously changed." I frowned in annoyance. "Didn't I live with him before? Why can't I do that now?"
He leaned back on the sofa and replied, "Your senses are quite sharp." He looked up at me for a few seconds, "It was different before and now."
I stared at He and motioned for him to continue. Otherwise, I still didn't understand what he said.
He stared at the birds flying outside the window: "This is not the Wen family, nor is it the off-campus residence arranged by the Wen family for you. Here, Jin Liang does not need to be restrained."
I suddenly opened my eyes wide, and I understood in my heart. Wen Jinliang actually didn't like someone following him around all the time, but in a place like the Wen family, he couldn't refuse. Now that he has moved to a free place, he certainly won't let others invade his world at will. This is the real reason why Wen Jinliang suddenly changed his residence, and the real reason why he was indifferent to me when I kept expressing that I wanted to be with him.
"You understand, right?" He said, seeing my expression.
I nodded: "Don't worry, I won't make Wen Jinliang feel embarrassed, but I will never leave him alone. It is precisely because I am free that I must protect him even more."
He smiled and said, "It's really great to have you as Jin Liang's bodyguard."
He and I continued to talk about some assassins who might come to assassinate us recently, and then he left. As soon as he left, the sky gradually darkened. I immediately walked towards the small apartment where Wen Jinliang lived. When I arrived, it was completely dark.
I observed Wen Jinliang's apartment and walked to the direction of the bedroom according to my memory. I looked up and saw that the bedroom light was on, and the figure of Wen Jinliang was vaguely reflected. He seemed to be studying. I shifted my sight and noticed a thick tree next to me. I thought about it and climbed up the tree swiftly, and sat steadily on the branch looking towards the bedroom.
My position was just opposite to Wen Jinliang's bedroom on the second floor, so I could clearly see what he was doing. And because there were many branches and leaves covering the area, he couldn't see me at all.
Then I went to check the trees outside other rooms. It was midnight when I was done. I returned to the tree where I could see the bedroom. Wen Jinliang had turned off the lights and went to sleep, and I found a comfortable position and leaned against the tree and closed my eyes and fell asleep.
The next day, Wen Jinliang's attitude towards me softened a bit, but he was still a little distant. But I pretended not to know and continued chatting with him as usual, but I resisted in my heart and didn't want to face the fact that Wen Jinliang was alienating me.
On the night of the fifth day, I slept on a branch outside Wen Jinliang's bedroom as usual. But the sky, which had always been clear, suddenly began to rain heavily at night, and I was caught in the rain without any preparation.
I was hiding from the heavy rain in a panic. Although my heart told me that I had to find a place to hide from the rain, there were only trees here and there was nowhere to hide, unless I left. So I gritted my teeth and stood up, guarding in the rain all night. I couldn't give up protecting Wen Jinliang just because of a rain .
At dawn, I returned to my small apartment, took a shower and changed into clean clothes. In the mirror, my face was slightly pale. I used a hot towel to warm my cheeks for a while, and soon my face returned to normal. I felt relieved and continued to go to class.
"You're late today, which is rare." Wen Jinliang smiled when he saw that I was late.
I was about to speak, but I couldn't stop coughing a few times, and my chest felt stuffy and uncomfortable. After finally stopping coughing, I answered Wen Jinliang with the words I had prepared long ago: "I read too late last night, so I overslept today."
Wen Jinliang looked at me quietly for a few seconds, then asked, "Really?" His expression turned cold for a moment, and then he smiled as usual, "Next time, don't be so obsessed with books. Getting up late is a small matter, but it would be bad if you catch a cold. I saw you coughing just now, you should pay more attention to your health."
I was not in a good mood because of the rain, so I didn't notice the change in Wen Jinliang's expression. I just tried to concentrate and said, "Yes, I know. I'm in good health and won't get sick." After that, I cheered up and tried hard to listen to the class. Wen Jinliang didn't talk to me anymore.
On the sixth night, I was sleeping on a branch when I felt the breath of a stranger. In the past, I would have been awakened by this breath, but I was a little weak after being caught in the rain yesterday, so I didn't notice it at the first time.
When I opened my eyes, the man had already climbed into Wen Jinliang's bedroom through the window. There was a crisp crash in the room, and in an instant, the lights in the room became brighter.
"Oh no!" I stood up immediately, but I felt dizzy. I held onto the tree trunk for a while, then quickly shuttled between the branches, and suddenly came to the bedroom window and jumped in.
"Xiao Qi?" Wen Jinliang dodged the man's attack and seemed a little surprised to see me. I was also slightly relieved to see that he was not injured.
I pulled out the dagger from my waist and attacked the man. This was my first time facing an assassin who came to assassinate Wen Jinliang, so I showed no mercy. Although the man reacted quickly, he was still a little embarrassed when he dodged my attack. When I saw his actions, I immediately knew what was going on.
When I attacked him again, I was more confident. After a few moves, the man was obviously exhausted. You know, no one has ever been able to beat me when I get serious. But after these moves, I suddenly felt a suffocating and stuffy feeling in my chest...
Oops, last night’s heavy rain still affected my health!
The man noticed my hesitation and grabbed my arm fiercely. Before I knew it, he stabbed my shoulder with his dagger.
At the moment of pain, the heaviness of my body suddenly eased a lot. I didn't waste any more time and kicked him in the ribs. Then I threw him to the ground with my backhand and knocked him unconscious. He said that he would keep the killer alive to interrogate the master behind him.
"Crack, crack--" After dealing with the man, I couldn't bear the feeling of suffocation in my chest anymore, so I squatted on the ground and coughed non-stop.
"Xiao Qi, why are you coughing so hard? You look terrible." Wen Jinliang came to my side in a hurry. Seeing that I was pale, he reached out and touched my forehead. "Your forehead is so hot! You have a fever!"
"I, I'm fine." I finally recovered and reached out to pat Wen Jinliang's shoulder to tell him not to worry. But this movement affected the wound on my shoulder, and I cried out in pain.
"There's a lot of blood on your shoulder. Don't move. I'll call a doctor right away." Wen Jinliang looked at the horrific wound on my shoulder and his expression changed.
He quickly stood up, took out his cell phone and dialed a number, then came back to my side, carefully helped me onto the bed, and simply treated the wound on my shoulder.
"Why didn't you tell me that you were sick today?" Wen Jinliang asked as he sat next to me.
"I... I'm not sick, I'm fine. I'm just injured and don't look well, don't get me wrong." I wanted to sleep as soon as I touched the soft mattress, but I couldn't fall asleep in front of Wen Jinliang, so I answered with all my strength. And I absolutely couldn't let Wen Jinliang know that I was sick, otherwise it would expose the fact that I was secretly protecting him, so I could only deny it.
