Chapter 2 Every Star seven
After returning to the classroom, I was restless for the whole afternoon, always feeling that something bad was going to happen. Sure enough, on the way home from school, someone on a bicycle suddenly rushed out from the alley next to me and blocked my way. When I looked up, I saw Hua Ziyin's condescending smile.
Night is about to fall. In the dim light, through the lenses of the black-framed glasses on Hua Ziyin's face, those slender eyes don't have the usual cynical look. I was a little dazed to see that a pair of small glasses can actually change a person's temperament. To be honest, Hua Ziyin doesn't look that annoying when she wears glasses.
But the next second, he ruined this beautiful moment.
He stared at me with an expression of sudden enlightenment: "Hey, so you like this kind of weak and scholarly type of boys? You should have said so earlier."
"Psycho!" I glared at him, walked around him and continued walking forward.
I walked a long way out before I heard him shouting to me from afar: "Hey, let me take you home."
I turned around and walked towards him. He was sitting on his bicycle, squinting at me and said, "I'm not used to you being so obedient."
"Is this obedience?" I said unhappily, "I was forced to do this, okay? Hua Ziyin, can you please stop pretending to be innocent while doing shameless things?"
"Doing something shameless? Me?" Hua Ziyin frowned, looking very hurt, "I really just want to take you home."
"Okay, then you can do it." I jumped on the back of the bicycle and stopped talking, expressing my protest with complete silence. I was not so naive as to believe that his intentions were so pure.
To my surprise, Hua Ziyin never asked for anything during the trip. He didn't even say a word. In the gentle night, Hua Ziyin drove me through the alley. Occasionally, the night wind blew my long hair, bringing bursts of flower fragrance. I was intoxicated by the fragrance and forgot where I was.
Hua Ziyin was humming softly, and when I heard him sing "The wind blows the rain into flowers, time cannot catch up with the white horse", I couldn't help but hum along.
I was singing with great interest when the bike suddenly stopped with a screeching sound and I almost flew off the back seat.
Hua Ziyin straddled the car, looked sideways at me and said, "You're here."
"Ah?" I looked up and realized that I had arrived at the gate of the community where I lived, but I remembered that I didn't tell him where I lived.
I was wondering when Hua Ziyin parked his bike and walked up to me. He looked at me for a while before asking me seriously, "Can you agree to one of my requests?"
Look, the request is still coming.
Song Hexue, you are still too naive.
"Go ahead." I looked at him coldly, "Hana Ziyin, I should have expected that you had a purpose."
He didn't care about my contempt, and said anxiously with his eyes: "I hope you don't meet Xu Yun again."
"Why? On what basis?" I felt like someone had hit my soft spot and suddenly became excited. "Hana Ziyin, who do you think you are? My parents don't care about me, and you want me to? Let me tell you, I have tolerated you for a long time. Everything else is fine, but this is absolutely impossible!" I yelled in one breath, gasping for breath with excitement.
Hua Ziyin looked at me with a cold but knowing look, staring at me without blinking. I suddenly felt guilty, as if I was a clown who was completely seen through by him.
After a while, Hua Ziyin laughed and said, "Since you are so angry, it proves that I am right."
I was speechless. I was shaking with excitement. I didn't want Hua Ziyin to see me lose my composure, so I turned around and tried to leave. But he grabbed me and said in a deep voice, "Do you think I don't know why you approached Lian Mengsha?"
"Don't think you know everything!" At this point, I could only look up at Hua Ziyin and pretend to remain calm.
"You want Xu Yun to fall in love with you." Hua Ziyin squinted his eyes and looked down at me, almost putting his face against mine, "But I don't know why you want to do this. From what I know about you, Xu Yun is definitely not the type of boy you like." He asserted self-righteously.
"There are not so many whys in the world!" I laughed maliciously, "Besides, you may not know me very well. I might as well tell you that I just think it's fun to compete with a school beauty like Lian Mengsha for a boyfriend, is that okay?"
"You!" Hua Ziyin stared at me, eyes full of anger, "When did you become like this?"
"What? Shameless?" I put on an indifferent expression, "Don't you say you know me well? Then you should know that I have always been like this - shameless!"
Hua Ziyin let go of me and said firmly: "Xu Yun will not like you."
"Then just wait and see. I will win." I said this and turned away.
I had just taken two steps out when I heard Hua Ziyin behind me sighing softly, and then said slowly: "Tell me, if I tell Xu Yun about what we talked about today, do you think you can still win?" It was that usual nonchalant, yet deadly and annoying tone again.
"He won't believe you." I turned and smiled at him, not wanting to be outdone.
"Really?" He curled the corners of his mouth, shook the phone in his hand at me, then pressed a button, and my voice came out clearly from his phone.
I heard my devilish voice: "There are not so many whys in the world! Besides, you may not know me very well. I might as well tell you that I just think it's fun to compete with school beauties like Lian Mengsha for boyfriends..."
It never occurred to me that he secretly recorded it.
Instantly, I felt like I fell into an icy cold pond, and my whole body began to tremble uncontrollably. I grabbed Hua Ziyin's hand tightly like a dying person, begging without any image: "Can you keep it a secret for me for a while? I can do anything you want me to do."
Hua Ziyin looked at me, her lips tightly pursed, and she said nothing.
I knew that begging would be of no use.
I thought of the vows I had made, the countless nights of regret, the words about the stars and the sun that I had read countless times, and liquid slowly flowed from the corners of my eyes...
I asked myself, what is there to cry about? This is just the punishment that God has destined for me. God never gave me the opportunity to repent. This is probably the retribution I deserve. What is there to be wronged about? I deserve it all.
I slowly let go of Hua Ziyin's hand, lowered my head and turned my face away stubbornly, not wanting Hua Ziyin to see my tears. Perhaps my movements were a little too big, and a tear fell on the back of Hua Ziyin's hand with a "click".
Hua Ziyin suddenly retracted her hand as if she had been touched by some poison, stared at the back of her hand in a daze, and fell into a long silence again.
I waited for a long time holding on to the last glimmer of hope, but he remained silent. I knew it was useless to beg him any further.
I didn't want to look at , so I turned around and wanted to move forward, but I heard Hua Ziyin's low and hoarse voice: "If... If I promise to keep it a secret for you temporarily, in the future, you and I..."
"Okay!" I turned around and nodded solemnly while crying without waiting for him to finish. "Okay, as long as you promise to keep it a secret for me, I'm willing to do anything."
Hua Ziyin frowned: "But I haven't told you what to do yet."
"You can do anything, really!" I wiped my tears and smiled at him, as if he was not the extremely disgusting person just now, as if he was my savior.
Perhaps my expression of crying and laughing was too ugly, Hua Ziyin looked at me and frowned. As if he didn't want to look at me any more, he got on his bicycle and quickly disappeared into the night.
After Hua Ziyin left, I stood outside the gate of the community for a long time, looking up at the sky.
The moon was covered by dark clouds, and there was not a single star in the pitch-black sky, but I knew that in some distant place that I could not see, there was always a star lighting the way forward for me.
