Chapter 19: White Duck and Scissors
The sudden voice made Zhang Dadao shudder violently. Only Old Man Han knew something about his plan to escape. But the voice coming from behind him was not Old Man Han's. If other patients found out about his plan and reported it to any nurse or doctor, he would not be able to find another chance to escape within a year. Moreover, with such a bad record, he would not be able to live freely in the future.
Zhang Dadao turned his head quickly and saw the "movie king" leaning against the wall with a melancholy face. He continued to look at him and whispered, "If you take me with you, I won't tell the prison guards. You can't escape alone, you need a helper!"
When Zhang Dadao heard the first sentence, he was really shocked. He thought that the "movie king" was not sick at all and was just pretending. This almost scared him to death, but when he thought about it carefully, he realized that it was not right. The movie king had just gone crazy with him not long ago.
Although I felt something was a little wrong, I was suddenly mostly shocked. When I heard the word "prison guard", I almost cursed out loud. This guy was actually acting out some kind of prison break! I was afraid that he had been fooled by the "writer".
After thinking about it carefully, he understood that the situation of the "movie king" was different from his. There was no one outside to take him out, and the hospital would not let him out. However, the "movie king" had family and relatives. If this guy was really not sick and just came here to experience life, there would be no trouble for him to go out!
Zhang Dadao was frightened by the "Best Actor" and was a little angry. For a moment, Zhang Dadao also thought about dragging the "Best Actor" into the water. If he wanted to run out of the Seventh Hospital smoothly, he really needed help. However, thinking of the usual performance of the "Best Actor", Zhang Dadao threw this decision out of his head. If he really let this guy help, it would probably be more likely to be a bad thing!
The best way to deal with this guy is to ignore him! Zhang Dadao did just that at this time. The "Actor" kept talking and nodded, "You can't get out alone. There are three layers of iron wire mesh here, and there are guards with guns on the four high towers. But I know a way. As long as there are two people, it is possible to get out! You want to get out, I know how to get out, but I don't have the manpower, so we can work together."
Zhang Dadao curled his lips and thought, "Only a fool would cooperate with you!"
The "Actor" kept talking, and continued: "You see, the high walls in the prison are really interesting. When you first enter prison, you hate the high walls around you; slowly, you get used to living in it; eventually you find that you have to rely on it to survive. This is institutionalization. It is cowardice that imprisons people's souls. I hope you can feel free. The strong can save themselves, and the saints can save others."
Zhang Dadao couldn't help but correct him, "We don't have a high wall here, and the barbed wire and armed guards in front don't exist! There are only two security guards with rubber sticks and a wall that a dog can climb over. The line you said at the end is from The Shawshank Redemption, right? I've seen it on Xiao Su's computer."
When Zhang Dadao said this, he heard hurried footsteps behind him and turned around to see Su Jinjin hurriedly coming over with a few boxes. He said hurriedly, "You guys are together again! What do you want to do this time?"
Su Jinjin was quite anxious. Ever since the last incident of pretending to be a doctor, the hospital had listed Zhang Dadao and the "movie emperor" as dangerous targets! When she saw them together, Su Jinjin was also very nervous.
Zhang Dadao waved his hand, pointed at the "movie star" behind him and said, "If I were you, I would keep an eye on him. This guy just said a lot of lines from The Shawshank Redemption to me. I think he wants to run away!"
Su Jinjin glanced suspiciously at the "Best Actor" behind him, pointed at the "Best Actor" to the nurse who came over after hearing the noise, and warned Zhang Dadao: "You'd better stay away from him, otherwise if Dean Qi finds out, you will have to go to the isolation layer! Come with me now!"
Zhang Dadao shook his head noncommittally and followed Su Jinjin into the duty room. Su Jinjin handed Zhang Dadao a few boxes at his own station, and kept one by his side, saying, "Shunfeng Express is really fast. I thought the toolbox would arrive a day late. I ran into him delivering it when I went downstairs. Try on the shoes first to see if they fit. I'll check this!"
After that, she opened the toolbox, carefully checked the things in her hand, and then said: "There is nothing dangerous, but I still have to warn you. Put the glue away, don't eat it or let others eat it. And these few things, put them away, give them to the head nurse before going to bed every night, and she will put them in your storage box. You can only take them back after applying in the morning! If something goes wrong, you will have to say goodbye to your model toys!"
Zhang Dadao nodded obediently, kicked his shoes into the corner, pointed at a stack of paper and said, "Can you give me some paper? I want to use this to make a model. I don't think you will give me anything else."
Su Jinjin nodded and said, "Yes, if you want to sell ready-made models, I'm worried that those small parts will get into the patient's stomach! But paper can also be used to make models? When did you acquire such a brutal skill?" Su Jinjin opened the drawer and took out a stack of paper-made items and handed them to Zhang Dadao.
Zhang Dadao answered without thinking, "I learned it from a former patient who was a fitter." Then, under Su Jinjin's surprised look, he took the things and left the duty room.
He put his shoes and other things back upstairs first, and the morning passed like this. After lunch, Zhang Dadao did not go to the activity room next door. Instead, he found a corner and cut different shapes on the stack of paper.
On the third floor, there are four observation rooms. Each room is a large room with a small room inside. The structure is in the shape of a U.S. character. The observation room in the middle is where the nurses and care workers are. They observe and record the patient's condition through four large glass windows. They will come out to deal with any special changes. It is also the place where medicine and food are distributed every day. The four rooms are disconnected in the middle, and two of them are connected.
The other two were on the other side of the building, which was the activity room for female patients. They were also separated in the middle, and the building was divided into two from top to bottom. Zhang Dadao had been in the Seventh Hospital for so many years, but he had never been to the other side of the building. He only stayed in half of the building.
Even so, because the buildings on both sides were symmetrical, he was not unfamiliar with that half. Zhang Dadao was smirking as he pieced together the paper parts into something unrecognizable.
"Is this what you are prepared? A few silly white ducks?" Old man Han squatted next to Zhang Dadao again without knowing when.
"I thought they were eagles. They have wings, right?" Zhang Dadao didn't even raise his head and continued to excitedly stick the paper parts in his hands.
Old Man Han shook his head and said, "Even if it's an eagle, what's the use? You don't want it to carry you away, do you? Then you must be seriously ill!"
Zhang Dadao said happily: "Why do you, old man, always care so much about whether I run away or not? If you want to leave, can't you just go out by yourself?"
Old Man Han said meaningfully: "We are different. I am old and you are still young. You shouldn't stay here!"
Zhang Dadao curled his lips and lowered his head to continue his work. Old Man Han sighed and disappeared without a trace. Zhang Dadao lowered his head and his expression could not be seen clearly, but his hands were changing gestures like flowers blooming, and he easily split the safety scissors into two, splitting them into two knife-like things. The two knives slid along his hands, with amazing dexterity.
