Chapter 16 The Little Girl Licking Ice Cream
Black crescent, what is this?
I put my palms directly under the faucet, washing them with my hands and rubbing them with my left hand. But no matter how I washed or rubbed them, the black crescent did not even fade in color.
What the hell is this? Why can't I get it off? It feels fleshy, like a birthmark, but I don't remember having this on my palm.
After struggling for a long time and failing to remove the black crescent, I had no choice but to give up and ignore it. After all, having one more thing won't kill anyone.
When I returned to the room and saw the iron box on the table, I couldn't help but worry again. I thought for a long time, but I couldn't think of how to deal with it. In the end, I could only stuff it into a cabinet and lock it up.
I didn't feel like staying in the dormitory in the afternoon, so I decided to go out for a walk, walk around for a few laps and then go to the company to wait for the car. I didn't start work last night. No matter what, life has to go on, work has to be done, and money has to be earned.
But it was so hot, there was nothing to do on the street, and after walking around for a few times, I lost interest. I decided to stay at the company and go to the sports car in the evening. When I went there at noon, I forgot to ask Zhang Datou if he had finished handling the car.
Although it was very hot, there were still people coming and going on the street, and everyone looked busy. There were also many people at the bus stop, all waiting for the bus. I hid next to the bus stop sign to avoid the sun.
While waiting for the bus, I was thinking about all the messy things that happened in the past two days. Suddenly, I felt a slight chill beside me, as if a cold wind was blowing. I turned my head and saw a little girl licking ice cream standing next to me, standing in my shadow, avoiding the sun.
Oh my god, she is quite smart. When she saw me looking at her, she turned her head and smiled at me. I smiled at her too.
Soon, the bus came and the little girl got on the bus before me, but she didn't put in coins or swipe her card. The driver didn't even look at her, as if he didn't see her. The little girl looked like she was about ten years old and was tall enough to not need to buy a ticket.
"Hurry up, those in front!"
I was wondering when someone behind me urged me to go. I quickly put in a coin and walked to the back of the car. The little girl was sitting by the back door. There was a seat inside. When she saw me approaching, she moved her legs and I sat in.
The little girl had a sweet smile on her face, licking the ice cream in her hand. I was about to ask her how she could buy without coins, when suddenly a slightly plump aunt came over and sat on the little girl.
I was about to scold the auntie, but when I opened my mouth, I was stunned. As the auntie sat down, the little girl suddenly dispersed like a puff of smoke and disappeared.
I stared at the aunt in a daze. She turned her head and glared at me, cursing, "What are you looking at, you little brat? Do you want to take advantage of me?"
"squeak!"
The back door rubbed against the car with a long sound, and the back door was about to close. I woke up suddenly, stepped over the aunt , and shouted to the front of the car: "Master, get out of the car, get out of the car!"
The rear door, which had not been completely closed, opened again, and I quickly jumped out. The fat lady behind me cursed, "Psycho."
I wanted to say something back, but when I turned around, the car had already driven out. But when I looked at the fat lady, my heart couldn't help but twitch.
The little girl was standing next to the fat lady, licking her ice cream, looking out the window, and smiling at me. It was such a hot day, but I felt a slight chill on my back.
Is that little girl a ghost? How come ghosts are not afraid of light now? Why did she come out in broad daylight? Also, why do I seem to be the only one who can see that little ghost?
As I was thinking, the palm of my right hand suddenly started to itch, as if it had been bitten by a mosquito. I scratched it with my left hand, and it happened to be the fleshy black crescent on the palm of my hand. I opened my hand and saw that it was the black crescent that was itching.
I stood next to the bus stop again and waited for the next bus to come. After waiting for a while, the bus still hadn't arrived, but I heard some discussion coming from the front.
"Something happened. It seems like there was a bus accident ahead."
"Yeah, it's pretty tragic. It looks like someone was hit and killed."
My heart trembled slightly. A number of people were gathering in front of me, heading towards an intersection. That direction was exactly the direction of the bus I was about to take. Could it be that the bus had an accident?
My heart tightened, and I ran over there too. I crossed a street and turned into the street in that direction. There were a lot of people gathered at the intersection ahead, and many more were gathered over there. I also ran over quickly and squeezed in through the crowd.
A bus overturned, with many dead and injured people inside. By the back door window, a person's head broke through the window glass and was exposed outside. It was the fat lady.
The sound of an ambulance siren came from a distance, and the onlookers dispersed. I also stepped back with the crowd, and just as I was about to turn around and walk away, I suddenly heard a burst of laughter.
"whee!"
I shuddered all over, and my back felt cold. Then I slowly turned around, and in the crowd opposite me, the little girl was licking the ice cream in her hand, grinning at me.
My hair stood on end, and I instinctively took two steps back, staring at the little girl in shock. Could she really be a ghost? Was she the one who caused the bus accident?
I glanced at the overturned bus. There were more than a dozen people inside, men, women, young and old. Some were obviously dead, but many were probably still alive. The sirens of the ambulance were getting closer and closer. They would arrive here soon.
"Oh, how tragic. There's another car accident here."
"Again? What do you mean? Has there been a car accident here before?"
Someone was talking nearby. I glanced back and saw a dozen women in their forties or fifties. An older woman said, "Yes, it seems like three years ago, at this intersection, a taxi and a car collided and three people died."
"Ah, I'm afraid more than three people died this time. How tragic. You say this is really strange, why is it this place again?"
Another woman nearby asked in a low voice.
"How would I know? I heard this intersection is very spooky. I'm afraid it's haunted. Maybe the people who died in the previous car accident became ghosts and are still staying here."
Damn, what this woman said made me feel creepy. I turned around and looked across, but the little girl was gone. I didn't know where she had gone.
At this time, the ambulance had arrived and the paramedics rushed over quickly and launched emergency rescue.
I was not in the mood to watch any more, and I didn't dare to take the bus to the company. It was still early before dark, so I walked to the company. As I walked, I thought about what happened just now, and the little girl licking the ice cream was lingering in my mind.
