Chapter 16: Meeting the Colonel Again
A night of madness and indescribable beauty.
Early in the morning, Yuri woke up from his sleep. The woman who turned him into a man last night had left without knowing when. Only one or two strands of golden hair remained on the pillow, proving that what happened last night was not a dream.
When experiencing sexual intercourse between men and women for the first time, it is inevitable to be a little obsessed. However, for Yuri at the moment, the first thing he should consider is not his relationship with Julia, but his relationship with Olga.
To be honest, he had no idea of having any feelings for Julia. There was only naked lust between them. To some extent, he was even a little repulsed by women like Julia. After all, what people yearn for in their hearts is truth, goodness and beauty, not ugliness, evil and evil. As for Julia, although she was neither ugly nor evil, she was evil enough.
Yuri was tempted by Julia last night and rashly did that to her. Now he regretted it a little bit. He was worried that this woman would go to Olga and say something nonsense. He was also afraid that if her damn plan failed, he would be implicated. But what happened was what happened, and regret was useless.
After lying in a daze on the bed for a while, Yuri turned over and got up, washed up simply, put on his military uniform, adjusted himself in front of the mirror , and then went out with his books.
The time was exactly half past seven. If it were in the past, August would definitely come out of his residence at the same time. However, the situation today was special. Until Yuri walked to the door of his residence, there was no movement at all from this guy's door.
Yuri stopped at the door and raised his hand to knock, but after hesitating for a while, he shook his head and gave up. As the saying goes, a gentleman helps others to achieve their goals. Although he is not a gentleman, there is no need for him to mess up other people's affairs so early in the morning .
Yuri went downstairs alone and walked out of the noisy building entrance. The first thing he did was to look in the direction of Building 11.
As expected, in that building, several female soldiers came out laughing and chatting, including Olga and Julia. In the past, Yuri might have regarded this encounter as a coincidence, but now, he always felt a little awkward.
"Hey, Paulenka!" The first person to see Yuri and greet him was the girl named Domicheva. She waved her hand holding the boat-shaped military cap in the air and shouted, "Hurry up!"
Yuri smiled at her, hiding the awkward feeling in his heart. Just as he was about to quicken his pace to catch up, he saw a black R-6 sedan slowly driving along the path of the new village.
This car, which was produced in Nizhny Novgorod and basically manufactured with the technology of the American Ford Motor Company, is no longer common in Moscow today. However, there is a department that uses this car as its main official car - the People's Commissariat for Internal Affairs. The citizens of Moscow also gave this car a very unlucky name "Crow Car". In view of the tense and terrifying atmosphere in the Soviet Union in the past two years, once someone from the People's Commissariat for Internal Affairs came to the door, it often meant bad things, so the nickname of this car was well deserved.
No one knew why the People's Commissariat for Internal Affairs' car came here so early in the morning. The people who got up early to go to work in the new village looked very nervous. As for Olga and the other female soldiers, they were so nervous that their faces changed.
The "Raven Car" did not stop next to the female soldiers, but drove straight past them and finally stopped next to Yuri.
The car door opened, and an officer wearing the NKVD's distinctive blue military cap and the rank of colonel on his shoulder got out of the car and walked straight to Yuri before standing still.
"Olga, what's going on?" Several female soldiers were watching from afar. They were surprised to see that the officer from the People's Commissariat for Internal Affairs was looking for Yuri. Domicheva asked nervously.
Olga had no idea what was going on. She looked in the direction of Yuri with her heart in her throat.
"No, is there any problem?" Julia stuttered nervously. She leaned to the side, grabbed Olga's hand, and said. She had just slept with Yuri last night. If Yuri was taken away by the Ministry of Internal Affairs today, she would suffer a great loss... No, a little loss is a small matter. If she was implicated, she would have no place to complain.
Just when they were at a loss, a surprising scene appeared. They first saw Yuri extending his hand to the colonel, as if to shake hands with him, but the colonel ignored his hand and took two steps forward to give him a solid hug.
Seeing the two men hugging each other, Olga and the others breathed a sigh of relief. It was obvious that the colonel of the Ministry of Internal Affairs was not here to cause trouble. He should be Yuri's friend. But how could Yuri have a friend in the Ministry of Internal Affairs? And he was a colonel.
The person from the Ministry of Internal Affairs was Colonel Dmitri. He had completed all the transfer procedures yesterday, but the new position offered by the People's Commissariat for Internal Affairs would not be available for another three days, so early this morning he changed into a new uniform of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and came here.
"How have you been recently?" Colonel Dmitri asked with a smile, holding Yuri's shoulder with one hand, "Are you adapting to life in school?"
"Not bad, Comrade Colonel," Yuri said with a chuckle. The relationship between him and Colonel Dmitri was indeed a bit complicated. Their connection seemed not close, but in fact, they were a community of interests. Yuri was a so-called hero "promoted" by Dmitri, and he himself benefited a lot from the creation of this hero. If Yuri had a bright future in the future, Dmitri would naturally continue to benefit. On the contrary , if Yuri was involved in something unfortunate, depending on the severity of the situation, Dmitri might also suffer the consequences.
It is this symbiotic relationship of interests that closely links these two people who were originally unrelated. The reason why Dmitry, such a suspicious person, looks at Yuri differently and gives him enough trust is precisely because of this symbiotic relationship of interests between them.
"How many times have I told you not to call me Comrade Colonel?" Dmitri put his hand on Yuri's shoulder and said angrily, "Call me Dechenka. Of course, Dema is also fine."
"Dejianka," Yuri touched his nose and changed the name.
"Look, this is great," Dmitri nodded with satisfaction and said, "Come on, get in the car, follow me to Moscow today, I'll treat you to a meal, just to celebrate for me."
"But I have classes scheduled in the morning." Yuri hesitated.
"It's okay, I've already called to ask for leave for you," Dmitri said as he pushed him into the car without hesitation.
"Oh" Yuri closed his mouth speechlessly.
Pushing Yuri into the car, Dmitri followed and sat next to him. He first reached out and patted the driver's seat in front, indicating that he could drive, then turned his head and said to Yuri: "What's the matter, my Paulenka, don't you have any questions for me?"
"Ah," Yuri was stunned. When he turned around, he saw Dmitri's blue military cap again. He immediately reacted and asked, "Yes, you were transferred to Moscow? Or are you in the People's Commissariat for Internal Affairs?"
"Hmm," Dmitri was somewhat proud. He had no choice. He didn't have many friends or close relatives. He had no chance to show his pride in front of others. However, he had found a good target. "I received the notice a week ago. Now the transfer procedures have been completed. I will join the new position in three days."
"This should be considered a promotion, right?" Yuri said uncertainly, then smiled and said, "Congratulations, you don't have to go back to that ice hole in Leningrad anymore."
"Haha~" Dmitry smiled happily. He didn't like that damn place Leningrad at all. After all, it was the border, and with the hostility of the Finns, there was no telling when the war would come.
Although he said congratulations, Yuri didn't think it was a good thing to be transferred to the People's Commissariat for Internal Affairs. It has been 40 years now. In a dozen years, with the death of Comrade Stalin, this powerful department will be completely purged. For example, Dmitry is already a colonel. In a dozen years, he may be a member of the State Security Committee at some level. If nothing unexpected happens, he will definitely be on the list of those to be purged.
However, Yuri didn't intend to tell the colonel about such things. He didn't think the relationship between the two was that close. In addition, from a personal point of view, he even thought it was good for Dmitri to join the People's Commissariat for Internal Affairs. Maybe this could help him one day in the future.
The car drove out of the town and headed towards Moscow. After being transferred to Moscow this time, Dmitri seemed to be much more talkative. Sitting in the car, he would always ask Yuri about some things in his daily life from time to time.
Yuri understood that this was a means for Dmitri to win people's hearts. In fact, he didn't know why this colonel comrade valued him so much. Could it be that he had a superior vision and could see that he was a reincarnation?
No matter what he really thought in his heart, Yuri was quite frank in front of Dmitry. He talked about some trivial things in his recent study and life, mentioned August, with whom he had a good relationship, and also mentioned Olga and others who came from a rich peasant family.
Dmitri did not say anything about Yuri's dealings with August, but as for his attitude towards Olga and others, he expressed some opposition. In his words, men always pay more attention to their future careers, and marrying women of Olga's background would not be a big deal for ordinary people, but for a Bolshevik party member who was actively pursuing progress, such a marriage choice was a very unwise one.
