Chapter 16 An Egg
The three rats all avoided the bloody Cheng Qian at the beginning, two of them ran towards Yan Zhengming, and the last big rat rushed to Li Yun.
Li Yun seemed to be just a passer-by. He searched his body and found that he had been upset all day and did not even bring any weapons...even though it might not be useful even if he did.
In a hurry, Li Yun pulled off the feather pinned on his collar and confronted the rat demon in a colorful manner.
Master Zipeng is a powerful monster, and even the hair he sheds is extraordinary. The mouse obviously shrank back when it saw it, staring with its sparkling eyes, and circled around Li Yun from front to back, cunningly trying to figure out whether he was bluffing or really hard to mess with.
Li Yun was frightened by the spinning of the wheel and unfortunately his calf cramped. However, he knew he could not show his fear, so he had to endure it, and he looked like a coward who was holding back his urine.
Fortunately, Cheng Qian soon came over with Sharp Fang to help him.
It didn't take Cheng Qian long to come back to his senses from the killing. He thought he should be shocked and uncomfortable, but he found that he was not.
When he held up the big bloody fangs in both hands, he felt as calm as if he had just cut a cabbage, but this calmness on his face made him look almost like a little devil seeking revenge.
Cheng Qian soon discovered that it was not him who was afraid of the rat spirit, but the rat spirit that was afraid of him. Every time he took a step forward, the big rat would take a step back, baring its teeth and threatening him.
The weaker the enemy, the more confident he felt, and instead of retreating he advanced. But the rat, when he realized that intimidation was ineffective, immediately judged that the other party was a tough guy, and actually ran away in a panic.
All things have spirits. It is not easy to practice spiritual cultivation. After finally becoming a spirit, who would not cherish his life?
Seeing one running away, the other two followed suit out of caution, even though they didn't understand what was going on.
This small group of evildoers fled in panic, their defeat was overwhelming.
Li Yun sat down on the ground, finally having some free time, and concentrated on stretching his muscles.
However, just when they defeated the first wave of enemies and were about to catch their breath, Yan Zhengming suddenly heard a strange noise coming from behind him. Cheng Qian in the distance seemed to have seen something and shouted to him, "Be careful!"
Yan Zhengming instinctively lunged forward and skillfully performed the "Repetition" move from the second move.
He swung his sword hard, hitting something sharp, and then a hoarse roar was heard.
Yan Zhengming stepped back in embarrassment, grasping the hilt of his sword. He turned around and took a closer look, only to see a huge lynx landing lightly a few steps away from him, and transformed into a half-human form on the spot - the monster was tall, and except for its sharp claws, it had almost turned into a human form. It even smiled eerily and licked its lips with its scarlet tongue.
No wonder those rat demons ran so fast, they were caught by the mantis while the oriole was behind them!
Young Master Yan had delicate skin and tender flesh, and looked delicious. The lynx spirit rubbed the ground with its toes excitedly. The next moment, it pounced on him like lightning. Its powerful front paws were almost invulnerable to swords and guns, and it met the blade of the sword without even hurting its fur.
The lynx pressed its sharp claws and used brute force to push his sword down.
Yan Zhengming tripped over something and stumbled backwards. The lynx spirit was overjoyed upon seeing this. It transformed into its original form in mid-air, pressed one claw on Yan Zhengming, and opened its bloody mouth.
Li Yun and Cheng Qian were far away to begin with, and the hasty fight was so swift that the two were completely unable to rescue them.
In a hurry, Li Yun reached into his arms, but without seeing clearly what he took out, he threw it at the lynx spirit.
Cheng Qian glanced at him and said, "Second Brother, don't..."
But it was too late for him to stop it. The small porcelain bottle hit the lynx's head accurately, and most of the remaining water in the bottle spilled all over the lynx. The lynx with shiny fur was transformed into a huge toad.
For a moment, even the lynx itself was stunned.
The lynx was frightened and angry, and seemed to want to roar, but it only made a slow and dragging "quack" sound. It even stuck out its tongue involuntarily, and was so frightened by the long tongue that it forgot how to retract it.
The tongue hung down on the lynx toad's chest, just touching Master Yan's delicate neck. Master Yan, who had escaped death, went crazy on the spot and roared in a voice that was not human: "I really admire you, Li Yun!"
Then, he seemed to have infinite power all of a sudden. He kicked the huge toad on his body over, threw aside all the "wooden sword techniques" and "iron sword techniques", and attacked the lynx spirit indiscriminately like a shrew ready to pull someone's hair.
The lynx that had turned into a toad obviously no longer had its previous steel-like claws, and before it had time to learn how to use the toad's four legs to jump and move, Yan Zhengming stabbed it through with a sword full of extreme hatred. After a hysterical struggle, the lynx finally returned to its original appearance, and then lay motionless with its eyes open in death.
The murderer, Young Master Yan, looked even more desperate than a dead lynx. He held his sword and repeatedly pointed it at his neck, almost committing suicide.
Cheng Qian and Li Yun helped "Beggar Han Yuan" up, and hurriedly knocked off the dried mud on his body, revealing his naked body covered with dirt. Cheng Qian glanced him up and down, then turned to report his discovery to his ashamed and angry senior brother.
"Big Brother, didn't you ask Junior Brother if he hadn't changed his clothes or taken a bath since the day he played with the toad?" Cheng Qian said, "I know, he hasn't taken a bath."
Yan Zhengming: “…”
He put away his sword expressionlessly, feeling that Han Yuan should be the one to commit suicide.
Han Yuan was so happy to see them that he cried and said sobbingly: "Senior Brother... Xiao Qian..."
He tried to rush up and give someone a hug after a long separation, but unfortunately none of his three senior brothers wanted to get close to the naked little beggar covered in stinky mud, and they all fled.
Yan Zhengming tried hard to forget his defiled neck, and pointed at Han Yuan angrily and said, "If you don't want to go back and be expelled, you'll have to copy scriptures for the rest of your life!"
Han Yuan did not dare to refute. His eyes rolled around, trying to find an ally. Finally, his gaze for help fell on Cheng Qian.
Cheng Qian woodenly wiped the blood off his face with his remaining sleeve. He was thirsty and hungry at this moment, and he simply didn't have the energy to pretend, so he said in his true nature: "Junior brother, before practicing, you really should heal your brain first."
Han Yuan looked at this "gentle, kind, respectful, frugal and modest" junior brother in shock. In one day, his body and mind were seriously hurt. In the end, it was Li Yun who stepped forward to rescue him. Li Yun slightly raised the wooden board in his hand and suggested: "Senior brother, I think we should go to Linxiantai first?"
Yan Zhengming snorted coldly and walked away first. Li Yun thought about it and took off his outer robe and gave it to Han Yuan, so as to prevent the disciples of Fuyao Sect from getting a reputation in Monster Valley as not liking to wear clothes.
Jingzhao Valley and Linxiantai are not far apart. Soon, a strong smell of blood came with the wind. A black mist more than one meter tall suddenly emerged from the wooden sign in Li Yun's hand. The rolling black mist outlined a vague human figure, which instantly evoked Cheng Qian's forgotten memories.
He had dreamed of this person!
Han Yuan was startled and shouted, "Oh my god, what is this?"
The black shadow did not answer. He stood upright in the air, forming a solemn shadow. Although his face could not be seen, Cheng Qian felt that this man seemed to have a calm and awe-inspiring manner, as if he was ready to make a sacrifice.
He couldn't help but ask, "Senior, are you... Lord Bei Ming?"
"Beiming?" The shadow laughed softly and whispered, "Who is worthy of the name Beiming? They are just short-sighted mortals who are arrogant."
Cheng Qian couldn't help but turn his words over in his mind for a few times and analyzed the other party's implication - this was an admission.
But isn't "Northern Dark Lord" the greatest demon in the legend? How come he is attached to a wooden sign?
Was he attached to the peace and safety plaque or to the master's talisman?
Could it be that the talisman carved by the master is not for attracting water or thunder, but for attracting a big devil?
Is there any other spell like this in the world?
Cheng Qian was completely in the dark about these things. He then realized that he knew very little about the world of cultivation. He didn't understand anything and had no idea about the incredible things happening before his eyes.
With the dark Lord Bei Ming escorting them all the way, monsters of all sizes either couldn't see them at all or fled at the sight of them - it seemed that the "thrilling" scene of their battle against the rat monster and the lynx monster just now was probably regarded by this mighty man as "a fight between a child and a kitten and a mouse", and he had no intention of intervening.
Perhaps in the eyes of this senior, the big rat spirit that scared Li Yun so much that his calves were cramping was no different from a real rat.
Linxiantai is a man-made altar, built by an unknown person. It is located at the deepest part of the Demon Valley and protrudes abruptly.
The Linxiantai was empty and the monsters could not get close to it, but the valley surrounding it had now become a Shura field.
Yan Zhengming and the others had seen this kind of scene in Jingzhao Valley and were somewhat prepared, but Han Yuan was stunned.
It was not until this moment that Han Yuan realized where he had gotten himself into, and how dangerous his brothers had been for him. The only reason he was still alive was because the big monsters in the Monster Valley were busy killing each other and had no time to care about him!
At this moment, the wooden sign in Li Yun's hand suddenly cracked, and after a layer of faint light flowed on the talisman, it returned to deathly silence. Bei Mingjun, who was shrouded in black mist, suddenly broke free from the restraint of the wooden sign, and his image became clearer. It was a tall and thin man in a black robe, with his sleeves fluttering in the wind like crow feathers. A pair of pale and slender hands were exposed, and a simple ring could be barely seen between his fingers.
Only his face could not be seen clearly. His face was hidden in the black mist, with only his chin exposed. It was the same pale color as his hands.
Cheng Qian inexplicably felt a certain indescribable sense of familiarity from him, but before he could see clearly, a dazzling golden light suddenly flashed across the man's body. The next moment, he turned into a ball of black mist and rushed towards the valley without looking back. He only left behind a gentle "go back as soon as possible" before disappearing without a trace.
Cheng Qian suddenly had a strange feeling - he would never come back.
"I know!" Li Yun, who is proficient in various unconventional methods, suddenly said, "I know! The golden light on his body is a hidden symbol!"
Even Yan Zhengming was somewhat absent-minded, and whispered: "Flowing water, smoke and clouds can all be used as hidden symbols, but... can they also be engraved on people?"
"That's definitely not a person," Li Yun said firmly, "It's a soul. I've seen a record in a book of strange stories that there was a great demon cultivator who was a master of spells. He could engrave invisible symbols on people's souls. He left symbols on the souls of many people, making it impossible for these people to escape his control for generations to come. Bei Mingjun must have such a method..."
"Li Yun," Yan Zhengming finally came back to his senses. He caught a glimpse of Han Yuan and Cheng Qian holding their breath and listening attentively to the story of the demon cultivator. He immediately stopped him, "Shut up - let's go."
The entire Linxiantai and its valley were shrouded in black fog, isolating this place of killing from the surroundings. They stood on the top of a mountain on one side and found that they could no longer feel the shouts and smell of blood.
Suddenly, a cluster of fire slowly illuminated a corner of the Linxiantai shrouded in black fog, and then spread to one side at an incredible speed.
Yan Zhengming's heart trembled, and he shouted: "Close your eyes!"
At this moment, several people subconsciously obeyed his command, but the strong light seemed to burn people's eyeballs red even through their eyelids, and the whole world seemed to be dragged into a sea of fire.
It was unknown how long it took for the bright light and raging fire to subside, except for the thick black fog hovering over the Linxian Terrace, which seemed eternal and motionless.
Cheng Qian was the first to tentatively open his eyes. His vision was still a little blurry, and he blinked hard several times before he could barely see anything.
He saw an egg in front of a few people, rolling towards them...
