Chapter 15: King Chu, King Dai, King Jia
Early the next morning.
Sun Shaozong opened his eyes in a daze, only to find that he had spent the entire night lying on the dining table. There was no sign of Jia Lian sitting opposite him, so he guessed that he had been sent back to his bedroom by the servants to rest.
So he tapped his aching temple and couldn't help complaining about the servants in the Jia family who were partial to some of them.
In fact, he was wrongly accusing others. Last night, four or five servants worked together but failed to lift him up from the table. Instead, he casually threw several of them over - in this case, who would dare to touch him?
But Sun Shaozong was complaining in the hall when he heard hurried footsteps outside the door. He looked up and saw Ruan Rong coming in hurriedly, followed by a pretty maid.
When their eyes met, Ruan Rong saw that his eyes were full of bloodshot, and he looked like he was still hungover. She couldn't help but feel distressed and angry, but because there were others around, she couldn't say anything. She pointed to the coffee table beside her and said, "Zijuan, put your things down, and go back to your sister first."
Zijuan was holding a basin of water, looking up and down at Sun Shaozong curiously. After hearing what Ruan Rong said, she hurriedly said, "Miss Rong, what are you talking about? If I leave like this, how can I explain it to my lady?"
As he said this, he placed the copper basin in his hand on the table, soaked a towel in it and was about to wipe the stains off Sun Shaozong's face.
Sun Shaozong raised his head and stepped back, saying with a smile: "Let me do it by myself. I feel uncomfortable being served like this."
Zijuan was stunned when she heard this, she turned around and looked at Ruan Rong, and seeing that she had no objection, she let Sun Shaozong take the towel and wash herself.
When Sun Shaozong finished washing up, Zijuan was no longer in the room. She must have seen that he didn't need any service, so she went straight back to Lin Daiyu.
Thinking of Daiyu, Sun Shaozong's heart was moved, and he couldn't help but whispered: "What does Miss Lin look like? Jia Lian drank too much yesterday, and he praised her in front of me a lot."
Although he had never read Dream of the Red Chamber, Sun Shaozong knew that the story was full of beauties, with Lin Daiyu and Xue Baochai being the best among them. Therefore, his curiosity grew rapidly and he could not suppress it.
Ruan Rong was wary at first when he asked her this, but then she thought of Daiyu's current age and felt relieved. She just smiled and said, "Daiyu is naturally very beautiful, with impeccable character and literary talent. Otherwise, why would I accept her as my sister?"
"What? You acknowledged her as your godsister!"
Sun Shaozong was stunned and blurted out, "But haven't you just known each other for a day?"
Ruan Rong rolled her eyes, stretched out her hand to pinch his arm, and said in a feigned anger: "What's wrong with one day? Didn't I just spend one day with someone and then I regarded him as the man I would entrust my life to?"
Sun Shaozong was suddenly speechless.
I have to say that Ruan Rong is really a "decisive and swift" person. First, she took a fancy to me in just one day, and now she took only one day to abduct Lin Daiyu.
Seeing that Sun Shaozong was speechless, Ruan Rong couldn't help but chuckle and said, "My sister is only eleven or twelve years old now, so don't think about her carelessly. Besides, she is a kind-hearted person, and I'm afraid she won't look down on a rough guy like you."
"What?!"
Sun Shaozong pretended to be shocked and said, "You know how thick I am. Why did you tell the girl the result of your own measurement?!"
Ruan Rong was puzzled at first, but then she suddenly came to her senses and rushed forward to scratch him in embarrassment and anger. Sun Shaozong dodged her, then took her in his arms and laughed triumphantly.
Ruan Rong took the opportunity to bite his chest twice, neither too hard nor too light, but she couldn't hold back her laughter and fell backwards with laughter in his arms.
But this was not a secluded place after all, so the two of them hugged each other and laughed for a while, then quickly separated.
Sun Shaozong said, "I plan to help Brother Lian deal with the remaining trivial matters first, so that I can set off to return to Beijing as soon as possible. I'm sorry to ask you to wait here for two days. Fortunately, you just recognized a sister, so you won't feel lonely staying in this government office ."
After a pause, he added, "Don't forget to ask your sister about what fun things there are in Yangzhou City. Before we set off, I'll take you around for a walk."
Seeing that Sun Shaozong was still drunk and wanted to take her to the city for a tour, Ruan Rong was very happy. She talked to him for a few more words before reluctantly returning to the backyard.
--Dividing line--
But at the same time, Zijuan was also talking about Sun Shaozu in front of Daiyu.
"Girl, you didn't see it."
She rolled up her sleeves and held her hands together in the air, making a circle as thick as a bucket. "Captain Sun's arms are this thick. His thigh alone is probably as big as Master Bao!"
It turned out that Daiyu sent Zijuan to go and serve, not only out of consideration for Ruan Rong, but her main purpose was to see what the man her godsister had fallen deeply in love with looked like.
Listening to Zijuan's exaggerated description, she pieced together the facts in her mind and suddenly frowned, "From what you said, isn't Captain Sun somewhat similar to Brother Xue?"
Xue Pan left a very bad impression on Daiyu. He was just like a filthy mud. When Daiyu connected the two together, she couldn't help but feel disgusted with the whole family and felt very sorry for her sister Ruan Rong.
"Master Xue?"
Zijuan was stunned at first, then she shook her head like a rattle and said anxiously, "How can they be the same?! That stupid tyrant is not like a tyrant at all, except for being rude and unreasonable. But this Sun Duwei has a strong build and an imposing manner, and he really has some shadows of the King of Chu."
As she spoke, she lowered her voice with a bit of embarrassment and whispered, "To be honest, Miss, Captain Sun's long gown bulges whenever he moves, as if it's not flesh but pieces of iron ingots! Yesterday, when Miss Rong told me about his fight with the bandits, I thought it was an exaggeration, but now it seems to be true."
"The King of Chu..."
Lin Daiyu murmured these three words, and pieced together in her mind the scene of 'Sun Shaozong embracing Ruan Rong affectionately, chatting and laughing, and the thieves were frightened', and she became a little dazed for a moment.
After a while, Daiyu could not help but put herself into the story and replaced Sun Shaozong with Baoyu - however, she could not imagine the heroic image of "Jia Ba Wang, who was invincible and killed the bandits in an instant".
If Brother Bao and I were to encounter such a situation, wouldn't it be more reliable to hold hands and run away with our heads covered?
Thinking of this, Daiyu couldn't help laughing.
Zijuan was accompanying her, but she couldn't help but sigh. She hadn't seen Daiyu laugh seriously for a long time - just with her big laugh, it was worth it for her to recognize her as her god sister.
