Chapter 15: Bullying the weak and fearing the strong
How could Young Master Zhang not believe it? Collecting stones in the Nanshan Mountains was a job only for extremely evil criminals. How could the Grand Tutor do such a menial job? At the very least, he was a hero who drank and ate meat with big mouthfuls. Besides, how could the Grand Tutor, who was like a god, have ever lost a battle?
He thought that the person in front of him was afraid of the bandits. First, he humiliated his beliefs, and now he was timid and afraid of trouble. He deliberately said some nonsense to deceive him. Even if he had the best temper, he couldn't restrain it at this moment.
"I don't dare, so why bother to tarnish his innocence and find so many excuses? Even without you, I can still kill the bandits."
Hearing Young Master Zhang's shouting, Liu Hu didn't take it seriously at all, but took A Si with him, not wanting to stay for a moment.
Ah Si looked at Young Master Zhang and said maliciously, "The boss once said, if you are a dragon you have to coil up, if you are a tiger you have to lie down, do what you like."
"So do you think I'm a dragon or a tiger?" Young Master Zhang's arrogance diminished a lot when he saw Asi's bear-like figure. However, thinking that he still had to show off in front of his friends, he couldn't help but straighten his back.
Ah Si thought about Liu Hu's previous insults and said teasingly, "I think you are both deaf and a tiger."
"Am I that great?" Anyone would be happy to be praised, let alone by such a strong man in front of him. Young Master Zhang's brows relaxed a little.
Could it be that he realized that he was a man of both civil and military talents?
Ah Si glanced at the little kid and continued, "You are quite deaf, but you are very aggressive. With your aggressive personality, you'd better not make trouble."
After saying that, Asi hurriedly chased after Liu Hu. It was okay for him to be uneducated, but he had a good memory. When he had nothing to do, he could listen to what the boss said more and learn something.
Besides, he and Luo Fanchen are collectively known as the Two Poisons of Daqian. Luo Fanchen uses poison, and Asi has a poisonous tongue.
Thinking of the little kid's angry look, Ah Si was so happy that he walked out shaking his head.
Young Master Zhang could hear Ah Si's mockery, so he rushed over, grabbed Ah Si's clothes and said, "Do you dare to compete with me?"
"I lost." Asi didn't even pay attention to Young Master Zhang. He walked straight forward and with a little force, he shook Young Master Zhang's hand away.
Although Ah Si was a rough guy, he would not fight with a child. Besides, he did not control the strength of his blows, and if he failed, it would only cause trouble.
When a tiger fights a dog, even if the tiger wins, it is shameful. It is better to just admit defeat and save trouble.
Seeing Ah Si admitting defeat, Young Master Zhang looked at him with contempt and said, "I thought you were such a great man, but you turned out to be such a coward. It's a disgrace to Daqian that there are scum like you."
Liu Hu was walking forward , but after hearing this, he immediately stopped and looked at the little kids behind him with squinted eyes.
Ah Si saw the look in Liu Hu's eyes and realized that something was wrong. Once the boss's eyes were squinting, it meant that he really wanted to kill. Although these kids were outspoken, they were not ready to die. He quickly stood in front of the kids and said, "Boss, don't."
"Oh." Liu Hu agreed, pushed Ah Si's body away and said to the kids, "When I first saw you guys, I thought you were well-educated people, but I never thought you were bullies who only bully the weak and fear the strong."
If you scold me, you may still have a chance to survive, but if you scold my brother, there is no chance of survival.
Without giving Young Master Zhang a chance to speak, Liu Hu continued, "I will go with you to kill the bandits, but I hope you can let me see your strength, so that you don't ask me for help later."
Young Master Zhang was also a man who cared about his reputation. After hearing what Liu Hu said, he said viciously, "I'm not fighting for bread, I'm fighting for my dignity. Even if I die, I won't beg for mercy from you."
After saying that, Young Master Zhang led those people and hurriedly walked towards the back mountain. Liu Hu was not vague either, and followed them closely with Asi.
Ah Si was simple-minded and had long forgotten the unpleasantness that had just occurred. In a trance, he saw a strand of white hair on Liu Hu's back, and he couldn't help feeling a little uncomfortable.
When I first met Liu Hu, he was so full of vigor and ambition , and he seemed to care about everything in the world. But now, in just a few years, he has already grown white hair.
Ah Si was not as cultured as Luo Fanchen, nor as smooth as Zhou Pin. He hesitated for a moment and said, "Boss, you are old."
Knowing that Ah Si was straightforward, Liu Hutou did not even reply: "Now I am twenty-six, so naturally I am different from the previous years."
"Boss, you are asking for too much. You want peace in the world, honest officials, people to live and work in peace, and the world to submit. Now, you want a beautiful woman to accompany you, and you want to protect your daughter's safety for the rest of her life."
In this world, no one except A Si dared to say this to Liu Hu, only because of the trust and understanding they had during the battles.
Liu Hu also stopped after hearing these words. He knew A Si's character and knew that these words were definitely not taught to him by others. He wondered what A Si was thinking of.
Seeing Liu Hu's doubts, Asi spoke out his thoughts like pouring beans out of a bamboo tube.
"Boss, I remember when I was first appointed Grand Master, you asked me what I wanted to pursue in my life. Now I want to ask you, what do you want?"
'Life is short-lived, and the recorded history alone is more than 5,000 years old. What does our life count for in the long river of history? The rising and setting of the sun and moon in the east may be considered a lifetime for Fuyou.'
'When I was young, I would lie down and peel lotus pods. In my spare time, I would fly kites in the east wind. I would come home with a full meal and a warm blanket at night. That was what I was pursuing.'
'When I grow up, I hope to pass the imperial examination, have a beautiful woman by my side, have many friends, and make a lot of money.'
'When I get old, I start to hope for health and longevity, with servants lining the streets, young children and nobles, someone to accompany me to play a game of chess, and children and grandchildren around me, so that I can enjoy my old age.'
"I know I'm stupid. I never asked for too much since I was a child. I just wanted to have a full meal. Before I met the boss, I had never had a full meal. They treated me as a punching bag and never treated me as a person. Now my life is perfect for me."
"Boss, there are always regrets in life. Sometimes you really need to give up."
After observing for the past two days, Asi didn't notice anything else, but he did notice that the girl named Lan Xin was indifferent to the boss. If possible, Asi hoped that the boss had never met Lan Xin, and could be like before.
Liu Hu did not expect Ah Si to say such words. He felt a little touched. Only a true brother would say such heartfelt words.
In fact, Liu Hu knew better than anyone how crazy what he was doing was, but he couldn't bear to see his own daughter wandering outside. According to Lan Xin's strong character, if he forcibly brought her back to Beijing, she might go on a hunger strike to resist.
Liu Hu was a head shorter than Ah Si. He slowly turned around and patted his shoulder, choking a little as he said, "I know. Believe me."
There was still light between his brows. As long as there was light in his eyes, the boss knew what he was doing. This feeling was very good. Ah Si nodded with satisfaction.
