Chapter 14 Smoke and Cloud
Chapter 14
After Yanyun's allergy, Li Wenyu didn't receive any more text messages from Pei Xin for several days, nor did he see him at school.
From Monday to Thursday, Li Wenyu spent several days that were normal but fearful. Until Christmas Eve, he had to help Qin Li make Christmas decorations for the game hall in advance, so he went to buy some decorations after school.
It was completely dark when we arrived at the game hall. The clear skies in the past few days had caused the snow accumulated in the alley to begin to melt. Drops of snow were falling from the eaves, but the temperature did not rise. When the wind blew, it was bone-chilling.
Li Wenyu wore a thick coat and held colorful Christmas decorations in his hands. Because he couldn't hold them down, his arms and neck were wrapped with shiny plastic light sheets. When he opened the door, he could only push it with his shoulders. He pushed open a gap and squeezed in. Unexpectedly, the ribbon on his arm was wrapped around the door handle again, so he had to go back and untie the ribbon.
When Qin Li looked up from inside, he saw that Li Wenyu had turned himself into a Christmas tree and was struggling with the glass door. He stood up to help, but was overtaken by a boy who was originally playing with a shooting machine in front of the game console.
Li Wenyu raised his eyes and suddenly saw Pei Xin's face, and his whole body froze, like a frozen scene of shock. The messy ribbons and strips in his hand were blown by the wind outside the door. Pei Xin put one hand in his pocket. His face was expressionless, but he looked a little tired. His eyes were gray and his voice was weak. He seemed to be just helpful. He opened the door for the stranger: "Don't you want to come in?"
Li Wenyu tried his best to suppress it but still looked slightly panicked. His eyes drifted to the neon lights and young men and women in the hall, and he lowered his voice: "Why are you..."
"Little Yu, come on, come on, put your things down, is it cold outside?" Qin Li came out of the front desk with messy short hair, and with a smile, he stretched out his hand to pick up the things in Li Wenyu's arms.
Li Wenyu was obviously even more panicked when he heard the voice of an acquaintance. His confused expression made Pei Xin feel very strange. He put his left hand on the door handle to support the glass door and stared at him carefully.
"Do you know each other?" Qin Li glanced at Pei Xin, first took the mistletoe from Li Wenyu's arms, and asked with some confusion.
"Classmate." Li Wenyu answered first with his eyes lowered. He rubbed Pei Xin's shoulders sideways and got in from the door. He put all the things on the table and reluctantly showed a relaxed smile to Qin Li, "That wreath?" But it's the last one. I found it in two stores before I bought it."
Qin Li nodded and patted him on the shoulder happily: "Now just wait until the Christmas tree is delivered and hung up tomorrow. You are cold, do you want to go? Are you warming your hands inside?"
Li Wen glanced at Pei Xin behind him and quickly shook his head and said, "No, Uncle Qin, it's too cold. You can go home and rest early when I come. If you don't know how to do the Christmas tree tomorrow, Just pretend to be waiting for me to come over after school."
Qin Li almost sang a song for recruiting such a caring and sensible employee like Li Wenyu. His messy eyebrows stood up with a smile: "Okay, then I'm leaving. You can follow me. If your classmate is having fun, you don't need to charge him for it."
Li Wenyu responded, watching Qin Li slowly humming and putting on his thick hat and scarf one by one before walking out. He was very excited when he passed by Pei Xin. He said friendly words: "Have fun, little classmate."
Pei Xin really looked like a polite and friendly ordinary student at the moment, nodding and smiling: "Thank you, uncle."
After Qin Li walked out, the glass door closed with a bang. , and another gust of cold wind blew in. Li Wenyu looked at Pei Xin, who was indifferent, with a cold face, and asked in a trembling voice: "What are you doing here?"
Pei Xin laughed casually: "Of course I'm here to play, could it be that I'm here to pick you up from work? "
Of course Li Wenyu didn't believe in such a coincidence, and his eyes were scrutinizing. However, his body's instinctive reaction was to stay as far away from him as possible. When Pei Xin approached, he took two steps back and bumped into the edge of the table.
Pei Xin admired his dazed and resistant look as if he were joking. Hearing the muffled sound of his lower back hitting the edge of the table, he simply grabbed him over.
"Help me see how this works." He pointed at a machine that Qin Li had just bought from the second-hand market.
Li Wenyu glanced at it. He had only heard Qin Li explain the rules of this machine, but he had not yet tried how to play it. He moved a step away from Pei Xin and looked at him, but Pei Xin's expression was quite serious and he only tilted his head to indicate to him to explain the rules.
Li Wenyu gritted his teeth, thought for a while and said: "This is a bit complicated. Just use the rope in your hand at the right time to put it on. Each color of rope has a different effect. Finally, you can use the lucky draw opportunity to draw points coupons." You can go to the front desk to exchange for prizes."
Pei Xin hummed and raised his chin: "You give it a try."
Li Wenyu looked at him again hesitantly, and then walked to the game machine resignedly.
He bent down and put his hands on the keys, staring closely at the turntable inside. The silver light splashed out, reflecting on his face like a shadow on the asphalt road that was sunburned by the moonlight.
Pei Xin crossed his arms and looked at it, but his eyes were distracted. He didn't know whether he was looking at the game console or something else.
Li Wenyu watched for more than ten seconds, then pressed the button. Five ropes flew out together, but only one blue one hit.
Pei Xin didn't save him any face, raised his eyebrows and laughed out loud: "Didn't you look awesome just now?"
Li Wenyu lowered his hand, and a prompt popped up on the game console screen: Congratulations on winning three lottery chances!
The blue rope can get three chances and is located farthest away. It is obviously the most difficult to hit among all the colors. After realizing this, the smile on Pei Xin's face faded.
Of course, Li Wenyu didn't like the feeling of being ridiculed for no reason. He raised his chin and returned his previous disdainful smile with a cold face, turned around and left.
"Wait a minute," Pei Xin called to him with a frown. He was obviously aroused and said in a commanding tone, "Watch me play a game here."
Li Wenyu turned around and saw Pei Xin irritable and anxious. With a serious face, he rolled up his sleeves and bent down to stare at the game console screen. His posture didn't look like he was playing a game, but like he was dueling with someone.
He moved very quickly, and it only took a few seconds to spot the right moment. He threw the rope and hit the nearest red one first, and the blue one in the distance was barely hanging on.
Pei Xin immediately showed a proud smile, stepped aside to let go of the game console screen, and raised his chin to show Li Wenyu to look at it. His intention to show off was obvious.
Li Wenyu didn't bother to care about such childish and boring competitiveness, so he rolled his eyes at him and turned around to leave.
"Neuropathy."
