Chapter 13 Annoying Neighbors

After returning home, He Shu was too tired to move.
But I still changed my clothes, endured the soreness in my arms and washed the clothes and pants I wore today, and brushed my shoes clean and took them to the balcony to dry.
He doesn't have many clothes to wear to work. Most of the clothes in his closet are school uniforms. He has hardly bought any other clothes in the past three years.
The ones I wore before were smaller now. They were okay for people of different sizes, but the pants were too short.
So wash this set quickly and hang it up overnight so you can wear it tomorrow.
After doing all this, He Shu was so tired that his eyelids were fighting. He set an alarm for himself and fell into a deep sleep without eating dinner.
The next morning, He Shu woke up hungry and got up to cook .
Being young, his physical strength recovered quickly. All the fatigue from yesterday was gone, except that his arms were a little swollen.
I ran to the morning market and bought a big lump of pickled vegetables. When I came back, I cut them into thin strips and soaked them.
When the meal was ready, I packed it in the lunch box, picked up some food with chopsticks, and lunch was ready. I arrived at the car wash almost twenty minutes early.
The car wash owner was standing at the door, biting a fried dough stick in one hand and talking to a customer with soy milk in the other.
Seeing He Shu coming with a lunch box, he didn't say anything. Just said something to the person and walked to a car on the side of the road that was so dirty that you could draw on it.
He got in the car and drove to the store entrance, then told He Shu, "They want it at 8:30, hurry up."
Upon hearing this, He Shu hurriedly put down his lunch box and started working.
Several other employees came one after another. When the aunt from yesterday saw that He Shu was already working, she smiled and said that he came early, and she thought he would be tired and run away today.
Knowing that the car was in a hurry, the aunt put down her things, changed her equipment, and came to help He Shu clean up the car.
"He Shu, buy some gloves and water shoes next time, or your hands and feet will be soaked."
He Shu agreed and concentrated on cleaning the car.
In the morning, He Shu cleaned four cars, which was an improvement over yesterday. During dinner, his aunt saw that he only brought rice and pickles, and her expression was a little subtle.
"Where do you go to school?"
"No. 2 Middle School."
"Oh, that's a key high school, you must be good at studying."
"good."
"Who are the people in your family?" I have to say, older women like to ask things.
But this auntie has taken good care of him, so He Shu couldn't be too cold and ignore her.
He thought about it and said that his father was at home, but his father was too busy at work and often went on business trips.
The aunt said "oh" and didn't ask anything else. However, after lunch, she took out an apple from her bag, found a knife, cut it in half and gave it to He Shu.
The lunch break is not long, and it only takes half an hour including lunch.
The aunt said that this job is too busy when it is busy, and there is nothing to do when it is not. For example, when the weather is bad, few people come to wash their cars.
At five o'clock in the afternoon, the boss came to settle the bill with He Shu. He had washed eight cars today and earned 56 yuan. Including lunch, the total was 66 yuan.
"Boss, can I still come next Saturday?"
The boss smiled and said, "Anyway, if you come, I'll pay for each car you clean."
He Shu felt relieved and finished the day's work with his lunch box.
My whole body was wet because I sweated a lot while working. Now that I relaxed, I felt a little dizzy.
I dragged my heavy limbs and walked slowly back home. When I went upstairs, I saw that the door of the aunt opposite was open. A young man with long hair and earrings was standing at the door smoking.
In the aisle, there were some paper boxes filled with unknown things, and they were almost reaching the door of He Shu's house.
"Xiao Shu is back?"
The aunt came out to move things and saw He Shu, she greeted him with a smile.
Regardless of whether He Shuhui responded or not, he pushed the long-haired young man over and said, "This is your brother Xiaokuan. Don't you remember him?"
Tan Kuan looked at He Shu and said, "Why does it look familiar? Is it the little sapling?"
When Tan Kuan was in middle school, He Shu was still in elementary school. When He Shu went to middle school, Tan Kuan stopped studying, saying he was going out to start a business. He disappeared for several years.
He is the neighbor across the street. I used to see him often when I was a child, but Tan Kuan has changed a lot.
Not only did she have long hair, she also wore a lot of accessories, her ears, neck, and hands were almost all covered with them.
In the past, he often heard the aunt talk about how well her son was doing in the big city. But now he looked so careless, and He Shu thought the aunt must have lied.
"He Shu, what are you doing now? Tsk tsk, your small body hasn't grown much since before."
Tan Kuan thought of He Shu and became friendly with him, reaching out and patting He Shu on the shoulder.
"I'm still in school." He Shu couldn't help but frown. His shoulders and arms hurt if he touched them.
"I heard your mom died. Are you living on your own now? I've also moved back and am planning to set up a studio at home. Come visit me when you have time."
He Shu was annoyed by Tan Kuan's rudeness. He hummed casually, took out the key, opened the door, and locked the equally annoying mother and son outside.
In the evening, He Shu had some rice and pickles, washed his clothes, and took a shower.
My eyelids are so sleepy, but I have been working for the past two days and haven't read any books.
He Shuqiang checked the homework he finished on Friday night carefully, not knowing if there were any mistakes in it.
Just as I was about to go to bed, I heard a loud noise outside the door.
He put his ear to the door and it seemed like there were many people talking next door, and from time to time there was the sound of wine bottles falling to the ground.
He Shu quietly opened the door a crack and looked over. The door of the room opposite was open. There was a group of young people in the room. They seemed to be eating and drinking, without any concern for whether they were disturbing others.
Living alone, He Shu didn't feel safe at all. He locked the door and returned to his room, and the noise became quieter.
Fortunately, He Shu was too tired during the day and was not affected by the noise. He fell asleep quickly with his head touching the pillow.
He Shu had no dreams that night and slept till dawn, recovering a lot of his strength.
I packed up my things, put the dried sheets and other things in a box, and heated up the leftover rice at home and ate it all for breakfast.
After checking the water and electricity again, He Shu went out with his schoolbag and bag.
But when I pushed the door, it seemed like something was blocking it.
He exerted a little strength and took a look, and it turned out to be a beer box.
The door opposite was closed, but the corridor was littered with beer boxes, bottles, cigarette butts and some food packaging bags.
The corridor looks like a garbage dump.
He Shu looked at his electronic watch, cleared the entrance to his house, locked the door and left in a hurry.
After two days of working as a car washer, school life seemed like a pleasure.
At noon, Xia Miao, who had changed her hairstyle to a single ponytail, found He Shu in the cafeteria and happily sat opposite him.
"He Shu, what do you do at home on weekends?"
"study."
"Oh." Seeing that He Shu's plate was still filled with vegetarian dishes, Xia Miao mustered up the courage to take a large piece of scrambled eggs from her own plate and gave it to him.
He Shu paused and glanced at Xia Miao. He saw that she was shrinking her head like an ostrich, pretending nothing had happened.
He didn't refuse as he did before, but ate it silently.
