Chapter 13 Alliance

Chapter 13:

Justice League Earth Division.

Today is the League's regular meeting day, and the main agenda is to report on the progress of missions in various locations.

Batman stood in the conference room, his cape draped over the polished floor, fiddling with his high-tech tablet. On the screen were a large pile of criminal files and unknown codes.

Wonder Woman crossed her arms and jokingly said, "I hope no one orders takeout during this meeting this time."

"Question! Can I have the energy burger that's already been delivered?" The Flash raised his hand innocently, pulling out a bag from somewhere. "I also brought Hal a milkshake, the most popular one in Central City. He said he wanted to try it last time." "

Good job, Barry!" Green Lantern quickly took it, hiding the milkshake under the table with a natural expression. "Next time you come to Star City, I'll treat you."

"Can you bring me one next time?" Aquaman peeked over. "I want strawberry flavor."

"This is a strategic meeting, not a lunch party." Batman frowned.

"Batman is right," Superman said gently, "but we can all place an order together after the meeting."

"I can go get it," The Flash volunteered. He took a quick bite of the energy burger and turned to look at Batman, "Hey, Bat, are you still looking at those codes? You don't want to hack into the Pentagon during the meeting?"

Batman didn't even raise his head: "Unfortunately, their encryption level is not high enough for me to do it."

"Wow." Barry muttered, "That's amazing."

"It's time to talk about business." Superman stood up and turned on the holographic projection. "Everyone, please report the latest intelligence,"

Green Lantern spoke first. "The extradimensional rifts previously discovered by the Green Lantern Corps have disappeared, and no new anomalous activity has been detected."

Wonder Woman added, "The unrest at the border of Themyscira has been stabilized. However, according to the communications we've collected, they appear to be connected to some unidentified forces."

When it was Superman's turn to speak, he spoke calmly, "Everything is stable in Metropolis. The alien ship crash in the suburbs last week has been confirmed as an accident. I intend to negotiate with the city government on the aftermath."

He glanced at the report in his hand and added,

"Also, last week, Nightwing, the leader of the Titans, contacted me. He proposed a phased training program with the League. I don't think this plan is suitable at this stage."

The others glanced at Batman unconsciously.

Wonder Woman raised an eyebrow. "Why?"

"I believe the League's missions are too risky for them to participate in right now. They're still young, and now isn't the time for them to be 'honed in real combat.'"

Wonder Woman frowned slightly, but didn't object.

"They are still young." Green Lantern said, "Not everyone has experienced disasters like us. Perhaps they need more experience."

Superman still smiled gently, "I respect their courage, but the League's mission concerns all of humanity. We can't treat the mission as training."

No one objected.

Batman listened quietly without commenting.

...

After the meeting, several people left one after another. Batman packed up his documents and was about to get up and leave.

"Bruce." Superman's voice came from the side.

He turned around.

"Would you like to chat sometime? By the way, Hal updated the coffee machine here."

They took their coffee to the terrace outside, where they could overlook the city.

"How have you been lately?" Superman asked. "We haven't talked like this for a while."

Bruce didn't react much, just nodded: "Being busy always makes people forget the time."

"Yeah." Superman smiled, his eyes fell on the distant horizon, "We are all working hard to make the earth a better place, but sometimes I also think - maybe we haven't done enough."

"There is no doubt that people need heroes, people have chosen the Justice League... We need to always hold our ground."

Bruce whispered: "That's exactly what the league is doing now."

The two stood side by side on the terrace, the wind blowing their cloaks.

"But the Teen Titans are taking on more and more tasks recently." Bruce took a sip of coffee and said, "Dick is an adult, and the Titans under his leadership have a mature organizational structure, and they are very capable." "

Of course... of course, it sounds like you are very optimistic about them," Superman paused, "Do you want the League to reconsider the proposal?"

"I don't mean that. I will provide some support, but not in the name of the League." Batman said calmly, "It's just private funding."

Superman turned his head and looked at him, and said, "I trust your decision."

After a moment's silence, Superman changed the subject to a lighter one. He asked, "Why do you look tired today? Has there been more crime in Gotham recently? Have you been sleeping less?"

"No."

"Actually, you can also ask me for help..."

"Then you work at the Daily Planet during the day and come to Gotham to work for me at night?" Bruce replied, with a rare teasing tone in his voice. "The people of Metropolis might report me for exploiting their heroes and depriving you of sleep."

"It seems I'm not suited to secret operations." Superman shrugged and smiled, "I have a built-in spotlight effect."

Bruce put down the cup: "I should go back to Gotham."

"Okay," Superman said, "You can contact me anytime if there is anything."

Bruce nodded and turned to leave.

Superman stood there, looking in the direction he left, and after a few seconds turned back to the meeting room.

The wind was noisy.
